Troubleshooting Computer not working
Is CPU turned on? Check for green lights
If lights not flashing, press boot button
Monitor Not Working Turned on?
Check for green light. If not on, press power
button. Make sure power cord
is plugged in tightly. Check back of monitor. Push up on cord.
Keyboard or Mouse Not Working Make sure cords are plugged in:
USB ports Back or front of computer Push in tightly
If still not working, unplug, plug into a different USB slot.
If still not working, turn off the tower. Hold in the power button until
the screen goes dark.
Computer Is Not Responding First right click in the task bar
on the program and try to close it down.
If still not responding, turn off the tower. Hold in the power button
until the screen goes dark. Once computer is powered
off, turn it back on.
Network Printing Know which printer you are using Each printer has name label Three parts

Setting Up Printer Start button Devices & Printers Add a printer Add a network, wireless,
or Bluetooth printer
Setting Up Printer Continued Select the printer from
the list. Click Next. The computer will search
for the printer. Then a dialog box will
come up stating it was successfully added.
Click next and finish.
Changing Default Printer Default = printer computer will choose automatically Start button
Devices and Printers Will list all printers connected to your computer
Default printer has a check mark within a green circle. To change default printer:
Right click on printer you want to have as default. Choose “Set as default printer” from menu. Check will now appear on this printer.

Be Green – Only Print When Necessary Print document one time only. If any problems, ask for help.

Using a Flash Drive Portable storage Plug flash drive into front USB
port. Be sure your flash drive has
your name on it. Form the good habit of checking
for your flash when leaving the computer lab or library.
Accessing Flash Drive Click on Computer. Flash drive should show up in
window under Devices with Removable Storage
Usually labeled as E: or F: Name of flash drive may also
appear next to letter: Lexar, Toshiba, Cruzer,
Patriot, etc.
Removing Flash Drive Be sure you EXIT out of
any documents on flash drive.
Close all windows. Click on button on task
bar. Select command on new
menu. Wait for message.
Safe to Remove Hardware Now you can remove your
flash drive safely.
