PRESIDENT REPORT Hi everyone What a month! It is great to be able to look back on what has been a crazy but very rewarding time. This month’s report will unsurprisingly be full of thanks and congratulations! Firstly, the new clubhouse is looking great and wouldn’t have been possible without all the dedicated members and volunteers that put in so much time during the weeks and weekends leading up to the event last weekend. We still have a bit to do but the bigger space has already transformed how we use the Club. There are many people that contributed but Peter Corner, Scott Ward, Ben Manifold, Graham Coulter, Tras Wright, Scott Chapman and Anthony Marston deserve special mention. If we had to pay commercial rates for all the trades and materials we used, we simply wouldn’t have been able to do it. This will be a lasting asset that will make the Club more useful for us all and more attractive for other users of the grounds. Secondly, thanks to all those that offered additional help in donations. A very special mention to Ronnie Versteeg for donating the windows and doors and to Vanessa and David Blows for donating the kitchen and slow combustion heater we will install soon. Thanks also to Darren Slade in organising the earthworks north of the gate that will make the whole area much more usable. Next, thanks to the coordinators and organisers of the different phases of the ODE and to all the club members that gave so freely of their time and energy both before and during the event. The kitchen crew, the secretaries, the scorers, the sponsorship coordinators, the jump judges, the marshals, the car park attendants, the rail runners, the program designers and map producers, the worker bees, Arch the commentator, Lucie the vet and even the disputes committee (!) without you all the event can’t happen so thanks once again. I’d like to provide a huge thank you on behalf of the Club to all our sponsors who truly went above and beyond (at the urgings of Emma W and Kerrie) to provide great support to the event and enable us to offer prizes that will have people coming back next year. Many of our sponsors (listed in the Womma) are businesses that we all use, so please continue to support them and pass on your thanks if you can. We will organise letters of thanks from the Club soon. The ODE itself went off wonderfully, even though we had some small challenges with the weather. We had one ambulance visit but thankfully the rider is recovering well. Other than that, no riders or horses were significantly hurt which is the most important thing. We haven’t done a full reconciliation yet, but it looks likely we will replace some of the funds we have just spent on the clubhouse. In terms of the competition, congratulations to all those that won, placed and made progress from previous years. There is a complete list in the Womma this month. Where people had a less than perfect ride or outcome, the support and care for each other that I saw over the weekend was inspirational and another great reflection on the Club. The community and camaraderie are why so many of us keep turning up again and again. PRESIDENT REPORT Hi everyone

What a month! It is great to be able to look back on what has been a crazy but very rewarding time. This month’s

report will unsurprisingly be full of thanks and congratulations!

Firstly, the new clubhouse is looking great and wouldn’t have been possible without all the dedicated members and

volunteers that put in so much time during the weeks and weekends leading up to the event last weekend. We still

have a bit to do but the bigger space has already transformed how we use the Club. There are many people that

contributed but Peter Corner, Scott Ward, Ben Manifold, Graham Coulter, Tras Wright, Scott Chapman and

Anthony Marston deserve special mention. If we had to pay commercial rates for all the trades and materials we

used, we simply wouldn’t have been able to do it. This will be a lasting asset that will make the Club more useful

for us all and more attractive for other users of the grounds.

Secondly, thanks to all those that offered additional help in donations. A very special mention to Ronnie Versteeg

for donating the windows and doors and to Vanessa and David Blows for donating the kitchen and slow

combustion heater we will install soon. Thanks also to Darren Slade in organising the earthworks north of the gate

that will make the whole area much more usable.

Next, thanks to the coordinators and organisers of the different phases of the ODE and to all the club members that

gave so freely of their time and energy both before and during the event. The kitchen crew, the secretaries, the

scorers, the sponsorship coordinators, the jump judges, the marshals, the car park attendants, the rail runners, the

program designers and map producers, the worker bees, Arch the commentator, Lucie the vet and even the disputes

committee (!) – without you all the event can’t happen so thanks once again.

I’d like to provide a huge thank you on behalf of the Club to all our sponsors who truly went above and beyond (at

the urgings of Emma W and Kerrie) to provide great support to the event and enable us to offer prizes that will

have people coming back next year. Many of our sponsors (listed in the Womma) are businesses that we all use, so

please continue to support them and pass on your thanks if you can. We will organise letters of thanks from the

Club soon.

The ODE itself went off wonderfully, even though we had some small challenges with the weather. We had one

ambulance visit but thankfully the rider is recovering well. Other than that, no riders or horses were significantly

hurt which is the most important thing. We haven’t done a full reconciliation yet, but it looks likely we will replace

some of the funds we have just spent on the clubhouse.

In terms of the competition, congratulations to all those that won, placed and made progress from previous years.

There is a complete list in the Womma this month. Where people had a less than perfect ride or outcome, the

support and care for each other that I saw over the weekend was inspirational and another great reflection on the

Club. The community and camaraderie are why so many of us keep turning up again and again.

NOTICES

Committee Meetings: Each month, the Mountain Pony Club Committee meet. Our

next Scheduled meeting is due to be held on Wed 141h November. We would love to hear from our members if there are any issues that could be discussed or addressed. We would like to invite members to send an email via our Mountain Pony Club email

before our committee meets so we can add to the agenda.

If you wish to attend a Zone Clinic you MUST have filled out a Zone Training Squad

form if you wish to be included in the list of names on the Zone Training Squad list. You should be able to find the form on the PCASA website.

This rally we are hoping to have a BBQ but ask that you bring a salad for yourself if you

would like one – still not back to normal but getting closer!

Most of what we planned for the weekend worked well, including the use of the new car parking area north of the

gate, the makeshift kitchen, our new generator and water jump pump. I am very grateful that every club member

and almost every visitor accommodated every request that was made with good humour and tolerance.

We also can’t forget that Camp happened in October and from all reports, it was another great time had by all.

We had a solid contingent of Mountain riders and although the weather was a bit brutal, I saw lots of exhausted

but happy faces. If you think you might be interested in Camp for next year, just chat to one of the crew that

went this year to find out how much fun it is.

Like most of you I expect, I feel a bit exhausted, but the fun continues. We have a rally this weekend (probably

reasonably low key), but please make sure you RSVP. There are lots of other events going on as well so will

likely see you out and about.

Please note that the Junior Committee is running a show jumping day later in the month which shows great

initiative so make sure you support and participate if you can. This is another chance for the Club for to raise

some funds.

That’s all for now – thanks to everyone one again.

Safe riding.

Regards

Randall

JUNIOR COMMITTEE REPORT – MONARTO CAMP EDITION

On the 8th of October 40 members of the southern zone went to spend the week at monarto. Despite all of the rain, wind and the older girls dorm flooding it did not dampen our spirts and it was an amazing camp with many new friendships being made. On the first day we had the chance to settle in unpack our bags and then have a small ride in the afternoon getting to know our group and instructor. For the next 2 days we rode in both a morning and afternoon session doing various activities of showjumping, a six bar course, games, cross country, flat work and trial riding. Unfortunately on the Wednesday due to the horrible weather we were unable to ride although all of the activities such as archery, laser pistols, a mega quiz and games in our colour group all making up for it. On the final day we did games with Julie chandler and the instructors set up a Darby course for us to complete allowing us to practice riding to an optimum time. The whole week was an amazing experience allowing me to make many new friendships with both other riders and instructors. Annabel Manifold

‘Not only did I learn new things with my horse, I also made a heap of friends. Had lots of fun hanging out with them. Look forward to next year!’ Anouk

Mitch Dollard, Tori Dollard, Sophie Miller, Amber Howie, Annabel Manifold, Eliza Treloar, Millie Treloar, Bella

Masters, Breah Marston, Kimberly Coulter, Rosie Harvey, Caity Slade, Millie Treloar, Charlotte Treloar

Ashton had a great timeon camp, the food was awesome, and he’s keen to go again next year . He would love it if more boys went along but he still made friends with the girls.

Special thanks to commentator extraordinaire – Mr James Archer!

Also huge effort for Demi Marston first event back after spinal surgery! And Tori Dollard first event back after a serious car accident almost 2 years ago! Well done ladies great to see you back out there in Mountain colours!

This year we had a special memorial shield on offer for our most accurate gr 5 or 4 cross country combination ! This new award has been created to honour the beautiful "Huntington"

owned and ridden by Bronnie Juett. Huntington was the most beautiful boy and is sorely missed by many.

The combination who went clear and closest to optimum time was awarded this

stunning shield (grades 5 and 4, under and o 17yrs eligible). Lisa Nietschke was the inaugural winner – many congratulations!!.

Mountain Pony Club – A look back through time

The following articles, cartoons and photos are taken from the Wommamukurta (1998 – 2001)

Even back in 1998 there were reminders to the riders to have a neck strap at rallies. You will notice here that the Chief Instructor is telling riders that there will be a hire charge to borrow a neck strap – the hire charge was to wash the instructors’ dishes and be the last in line for sweets!!! I am sure the riders would not have forgotten after that!!!!

Someone had good messages and a sense of humour with theses cartoon drawings. Just after our ODE, the top 2 cartoons seem relevant. Meanwhile the bottom 2 cartoons are a

good reminder of being helpful and thankful.

Mountain Pony Club – A look back through time

Looking back at these minutes taken from a Mountain Pony Club committee meeting we see that the arena was being opened on the 20th June 1998. The flyer next to it shows how Mountain

Pony Club were going to celebrate the occasion.

Can anyone identify this rider? She is now a parent of some young Mountain Members.

A great piece of writing about ‘The Horse’.

Uniform

The Formal Uniform (rallies and competitions). The formal shirt and Woollen Jumper are available through our Pony Club & the ties can be purchased through the club or the Uniform Shop.

Mountain Pony Club have OPTIONAL uniform items which can be purchased from Worklocker in Mount Barker. They are the Short Sleeve Polo, the Soft Shell Jacket, the Hooded Jumper (great for winter) and a custom made Cross Country top (for those wanting to do Cross Country & Eventing). These items are optional.

A reminder also that for presentations at pony club events it is a requirement to be in FULL formal uniform – shirt, tie, jumper, jods, boots, helmet. It is also good etiquette to ensure you thank the sponsors and organisers when the opportunity arises. Lets represent Mountain Pony Club with pride team.

STANDARD INFORMATION: Please make sure that when you RSVP for a rally that you include who will be riding and how many other

family members will need to be catered for.

If you are planning to attend a rally on a horse you haven't ridden at Mountain before, you MUST let us

know prior to the rally day as you will need assessing prior to being allocated to a group.

If you have any photos or results from Pony Club events that you would like to go in

the Womma, please send to Jane Hoffman at: [email protected]
