This is from the Victorian Curriculum: Learning in Drama involves students making, performing, analysing and responding to drama, drawing on human experience as a source of ideas. Students engage with the knowledge of drama, develop skills, apply techniques and process and use materials and technologies as they explore a range of forms, styles and contexts. SPOTLIGHT ON THE CASEA PROGRAM

THE CASEA FOCUS FOR THIS WEEK IS: Introducing STOP, THINK & DO!

Dear Parents and Guardians, The steps of STOP, THINK and DO are helpful in managing anger and solving problems. When you feel the strong, hot feeling of anger, you need to STOP to cool down your anger so you don’t hurt yourself or someone else. When your body and mind are calm, you will be more likely to think clearly about the problem and work towards solving the problem. Thinking of traffic lights is a good way to think of the three sensible steps you can use to help you solve problems. STOP: This involves not reacting immediately but recognizing and labeling your feelings. When you STOP and use a calming down strategy, you will calm down your body and your mind so that you do not erupt like a volcano. When you have your emotions under control you are more likely to be able to see the problem clearly so that you don’t over react and make the problem worse. THINK: This involves you considering seeing the problem from other people’s viewpoints. It is important to THINK about all the different solutions and work out which solution would work best for this problem. DO: This involves choosing the best solution and acting upon it to help fix the problem. It is really important that if that solution does not work then choose another strategy to fix the solution but remember to never give up. Sometimes you might have to try several different strategies before you find one that works for everyone.

Family Activity As a family, complete a maze together and talk about all the different ways you can get out of a maze. Discuss that sometimes there are dead ends so you have to go back and find another to get out of the maze. Sometimes people can see the way out easily but sometimes they can’t. Different people will see the problem in other ways and that is okay. Remember never give up solving your own problem.

I hope you found this article interesting and useful and please share any feedback you may have with me. Next week we will continue looking at the CASEA units. Warm Regards, Lucy Vorpasso

Student Engagement and Wellbeing

Introducing… Dear Parents and Guardians,

Monmia is a Bucket Filling School! We fill buckets and we don’t dip!

We use our lid to keep our bucket full and keep the drops in! I love how the Bucket Fillers Philosophy has been embraced by our school community this year. I know that we can keep filling other people’s buckets and make Monmia Primary School a warm, positive and caring place to be. When we all fill other people’s buckets then all community members benefit from these acts of kindness. There is so much to acknowledge at Monmia Primary School! Here are some ‘drops’ for you to read.

Remember that when you fill someone else’s bucket, you fill yours as well so keep filling buckets Monmia! Happy Bucket Filling!

Kind Regards,

Lucy Vorpasso

Today we did Footsteps Dancing and it was awesome! Funky Monkey was awesome because we were dancing so crazy. All the ½`s did it and we all had a terrific time. It was great to be outdoors. When we were doing our moves the wind blew and we were spinning which was hilarious! Tin 1/2 C WOW!! Today was great because we did some Footsteps dancing. It was lots of fun. I liked doing the warm up at the start and I was helping Caitlyn. I wish that we could do it again because it was so cool. Diellza 1/2 C Today we had a lady from Footsteps teach us some new dance moves. My favourite part was doing the Seagull move because we had to pretend to save our hot, delicious chips from the four seagulls. All the dance moves that we did were, the Funky Monkey, Seaweed, Super Soldier and the Chicken Nugget. These dances were super fun because we did some silly moves. I felt happy because it was so much fun and amazing. It was also good for our health because we were doing exercise. Lana 1/2 C Today at Footsteps we all had a spectacular time. There were lots of actions to different moves like the Funky Monkey, Seagull, Seaweed, Chicken Nugget and Super Soldier. We did a lot of exercise! My favourite move was the Gangham Style. When we started, I was nervous but then it turned out to be so much fun and hilarious. All the Grade 1/2`s were there and everyone loved dancing.! Yash 1/2 C

EVERY DAY COUNTS: Healthy attendance facts! 1. It is vital that students go to school every day. 2. It is crucial that you show your child that you value education

even in the early years of primary school. 3. Regular learning provides building blocks for the future and

regular attendance is essential to make sure learning is not disrupted.

4. When students attend school they develop academic skills and important social skills, such as friendship building, teamwork, communication skills and a healthy self-esteem.
