Assemblies Term 2 and 3
The start time of the Friday Kindergarten and Stage 1 assemblies is 10.00am in Term 2 and Term
3. Please note this time change in your diary.
Farewell Jody Sullivan
We farewelled Mrs Sullivan at the end of last term. Mrs Sullivan was a valued member of the
Minchinbury Public School community and we wish her all the best as she moves to Sherwood
Ridge Public School. Mrs Corbett will teach 6S in Term 2.
Mr McKenzie will be the Relieving Assistant Principal for Term 2.
NAPLAN
Year 3 and Year 5 students will sit for NAPLAN on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of week 3
(9, 10, 11 May). The results of these tasks are distributed to schools and families during Term 3.
Our students’ performance in these assessment tasks guides teachers to plan appropriate
learning activities for our students.

Easter Raffle and Cake Stall Our hard working P&C has started the year with an amazing fundraising effort.
The Easter raffle and cake stall has brought in a profit of
$1122.50. Thank you to all community members for supporting this fundraiser

Minchinbury Public School Pride Moments ANZAC Day Ceremony
On 7 April we commemorated ANZAC Day. It was a moving and solemn
ceremony attended by students, staff and members of the community.
We are grateful to Kenny Clements from Rooty Hill RSL and Bob Devais for
attending and addressing our community.
Thank you to Mrs Corbett and Mrs Bartlett for coordinating the ceremony.

Learning Neighbourhood News Stage 2 Harmony Day @ RHHS
Students from Minchinbury Public School were invited to attend and celebrate Harmony Day with Rooty Hill High School.
They were entertained by a concert in the hall which highlighted the various cultures of the school and then tasted many
cultural foods cooked by the staff around the school grounds. They even participated in games and activities run by the
Rooty Hill High School PDHPE faculty. It was a fun filled day enjoyed by all.
Intention to apply for OC in 2018 The application process for Year 5 opportunity class placement in 2018 is about to begin. Important dates are as follows: Wednesday 26 April 2017: Online applications open Friday 12 May 2017: Online applications close Wednesday 26 July 2017: Opportunity Class Placement Test Parents will be able to access the online application at https://education.nsw.gov.au/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5.

Notes sent home will have a deadline for payments and for notes to be returned to the school. No payments or notes will be accepted after the deadline has passed. If you will not be able to meet the deadline and wish your child to be involved in the ‘note activity’ you must contact the office BEFORE the deadline has passed.
