PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Welcome Back It is great to be back and see all our wonderful students here safe and sound after the summer break. All the staff are looking refreshed and ready for a big year ahead. We are all looking forward to a busy but great year of learning. Variation of Routine Parents are to provide the school with any changes of afternoon routines by 2.45pm at the very latest otherwise existing arrangements will be followed. These changes must be in writing or verbally from the parent/carer only. Changes will not be accepted by students as in the majority of cases these are inaccurate. Staff Professional Learning

Staff attended a Visible Learning Foundation Day on Saturday 2nd February.

This will be a big focus over the next three years to improve teacher and students learning.

Class 2/3H

Wow! Week 3 already. 2/3H have had a busy start to 2019. We have been learning about capital letters in writing and doing lots of number work in Mathematics.

Home reading starts this week and books will be sent home most days with your child with a reading log to complete. Our library day is Thursday , can you please provide your child with a library bag if you wish for your child to bring their books home.

Swimming Carnival

On Thursday the 7th February we had 3 students represented Taree Public School at Wingham pool. Milly Read, Bayley Read and Josie Hills all did extremely well and our school came 4th overall. Congratulations to you all for an amazing effort.

Class K/1G

We have spent the first couple of weeks settling into class and getting to know our new Kindergarten students.

K/1 students have been working through our talking and listening program, completing movement activities, listening to stories, creating fantastic art works, counting and recognising numbers as well as reading and sound work.

We can’t wait to learn lots of new things throughout the year.

Intensive Swimming

Intensive Swimming will start on Monday the 18th February and will finish on the 1st March 2019.

The cost is $35.00 for 10 days of lessons with a trained instructor. Please return your notes and money by 15th February, as we have limited placements available.

Children in Year 2, who are already 8 years old or turning 8 this year, to year 6 are all invited.

Clean Up Australia Day

1st March our school will be participating in Clean up Australia Day, which will take place at 1:40pm in and around the school grounds.

Class 6R

Welcome everybody to a new year! Students in 6R have settled well into their new classroom and have already demonstrated a great willingness to learn.

The novel we will be studying this term is called ‘Toad Rage’ by Morris Gleitzman. This is a fun book written from the cane toad’s perspective, and is a great resource to reinforce the strategies we are learning in Literacy.

Homework will start next week and will go home on Mondays and needs to be returned by Friday each week. Also, I will be giving each student a password to access Maths Online which will allow the students who have access to a computer at home to improve their confidence and performance.
