    Media Influences on American Culture

Cultural ideals are transmitted through media. From an early start we tell our children

what is right from wrong through spoken stories and fables. As they grow up, no matter what

generation they were a part of, we then allowed our youth to be transformed and shaped by

music, fashion, radio, the news, entertainment such as movie and television shows and even by

    the music choices they made.

    Culture Changes

The Twenties and Thirties. Before the Great depression hit, there was the early starts of

Television but most had only The Newspaper and Radio. its the Era of the Flapper girl, big

bands, Speakeasies and the prohibition. The 20's alone is a prime example of how Media

influenced American Culture, world war one started around this time as well. so look to the

pinups that came showing things for the navy and the picture of Uncle Sam.

toward the end of World War One, America had to deal with the crash of the stock

market. when the stock market crashed about roughly 4 million people lost jobs, homes and a

number of other things. this caused us to have to borrow from other countries like China. the

main reason why the we had to deal with the great depression at that time was because people

though it was ok to just keep spending and keep borrowing money.
