Check With Your Insurance Carrier The Insurance Survey Office (ISO) conducted a 5 – 10 year evaluation of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District firefight- ing capabilities in 2015. The survey evaluates a wide spectrum of contrib- uting factors for fire suppression, both currently and over the immediate past 3 years. The rating scale is from 1-9, with 1 being the best. The previous rating had been 4/9, a very respect- able rating. The District is very happy to acknowledge that our rating is now improved to a 2/2x, effective Febru- ary, 2016. Property owners in our fire district should let their insurance car- rier know about this change in order to take advantage of the better rating. To read more about the Ebbetts Pass Fire District and the improved ISO rating, visit: http://epfd.org/prevention/iso/. ART Arnold Rim Trail If you like to hike, try the Arnold Rim Trail that travels behind Meadow- mont. You may visit their website at arnoldrimtrail.org for special events and trail working efforts. They now have a new trail map on their site for download. Access to the trail is along Fairway Dr. & Cedar Center and the logging Museum at White Pines Lake. Signs are now posted on the trail di- recting you. Blagan Road Bridge Open The Blagan road bridge has been replace as it failed during last winters heavy storms. Share the Road Please obey the 25mph speed limit on all residential roads in Calaveras County! Roads are plowed by the County and they also maintain the culverts. Call 209-754-6402 for all road repairs and signage. Vehicles share the roadway with pedestrians, bicy- clists, skateboarders, dog walkers, children at play, and others … not to mention, wild animals, large and small!!! With hilly crests, curves and trees blocking visibility, exces- sive speed is DANGEROUS!!! Please drive carefully during the winter months. Please don’t interfere with County Snow Plowing. Emergency Air Lift Helicopter Flight Insurance If you own property or have a legal residence in the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, you do not have to pay for EPFD ambulance service as it is included in your property taxes. If, for an emergency, you have to be “MEDI FLIGHTED” out, it may cost ma¬ny thousands of dollars ($10, $15, $20 or more) and not all, if any, medical insurance companies pay for that service. PHI Air Medi- cal / Mercy Air Ambulance and CAL - STAR provide coverage for as low as $50.00 per year, per household, to cover air ambulance service. You can contact PHI at 1-(888)-435- 9744 or www.phihelico.com and CALSTAR at 1-(888)-207-5433 or www.calstar.org, to see if you may want to participate in either pro- gram. 1 Board Members Thank you to all our current Di- rectors for their efforts and contri- butions. We thank our new Direc- tors Larry Sikma & Michael Wever who were appointed to the Board in 2017. We would like to introduce our new director, Larry Sikma. He and his wife, Kathy purchased their cab- in in 2013. They love the area and spend as much time as possible in Arnold. He wanted to become more involved in the community so after reading in the newsletter about the vacant director position, he decided to apply in November 2016. He also volunteers at the White Pines Park Committee and at the Cal Fire VIPS Fire Prevention Compliance Pro- gram. We thank Jill Michaeu for all her VIP work and her volunteers who did their inspections in the commu- nity.
