The State 2016-2017 School Report Card for McMillen High School has now been
released, and posted to the McMillen High School website

and entering “McMillen” in the search box.
The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information on student
enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The information contained
in the School Report Card is described in the “School Report Card Definitions.”
If you have any questions concerning the School Report Cards, please let us know.

Message From Plano East for 10th Grade Families
Your 10th grader will soon be selecting courses for their next school
year at Plano East Senior High. We know you will have lots of
important questions about life at Plano East. Please come to the
Plano East gymnasium on Thursday, January 25 from 6:30-8:00
p.m. for our Panther Preview.
Plano East teachers, counselors and administrators will be on hand to provide
information about extra-curricular programming, dual credit coursework, AP courses,
elective course programming, college preparation and preparing for life after high
school. We look forward to meeting you on January 25 in the gym.

Counseling Corner
Parents/Guardians of 10th graders...You will be
receiving a letter from your student's counselor
in the next few days, inviting you to a meeting
to decide 11th and 12th grade classes in
preparation of attending Plano EAST in the fall. Meetings will last
approximately an hour. Your attendance is very important as students
make decision regarding their junior and senior classes toward
graduation.
Counselors are attending to the students who failed multiple classes during
the recently completed fall semester. Counselors may be calling you for a
meeting or perhaps looping you in by phone with information on when we
will be meeting with your student.

With our extremely cold weather, please remember that our campus opens to students at 8:00 a.m. each day. If a student is required to report to campus earlier than 8:00 a.m. to meet with a teacher, arrangements are to be made to meet that teacher at a designated door, preferably the front doors of our campus at the time required.

PTSA News for the Week
Mighty Lions, We are looking for volunteers to participate in the 1st Annual McMillen Cultural Day to be held on the evening of Thursday, March 29, 2018. We are looking for families who are willing to share their cultural history through costume, song, dance, or demonstration. Among the events we are hoping to offer is a talent show, a fashion show, and lots of tables full of displays and new experiences for us to share. If you are interested in participating or know of a performance group that would be, please reach out to our event coordinator Rick Runowski at [email protected]. The Plano ISD Council of PTAs is having their SAGE expo on February 3, Saturday @ 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at, Plano Senior High School, 2200 Independence Parkway, Plano 75075. One of the those positions will be for President! Please consider joining our amazing PTSA so that you are more involved with your student's school. We are also very excited to announce our PTSA Life Members for this year. They are Heidi Wenaas, Jill Lambouses and Mrs. Maysaa Enaya. Please take a moment to congratulate them for their outstanding contributions to the school and to our PTSA! Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month winner for a job well done! Practice ACT/SAT Tests in February
Get ready for the SAT or ACT with a practice test!
Who: Any 9-12th grader
Date: Saturday, February 24, 2018
Location: Plano East Senior High School
Check-in located in cafeteria Time: Check-in opens at 8:30 a.m.
Practice tests start 9:00 a.m. sharp!
Tests will last about 3 hours (SAT) and 4 hours (ACT).
Students must remain throughout entire testing session. Students are reminded not to forget their calculators and are encouraged to show up 15 minutes early prior to testing. Students may bring snacks and bottles of water that may be consumed only during regulated breaks. Register online at www.PlanoEastIB.org Cost: $10 (non-refundable) or FREE for IBWS Booster Club Members. Refer to website for Booster Club member directions. Registration Deadline: Friday, February 16, 2018 You may only register for one (1) test as the SAT and the ACT tests will be given simultaneously. Parent Meeting Regarding Cheerleading & Tryouts… Parents...If you have a student interested in trying out for Cheerleader, plan on attending the Parent Meeting in the McMillen Library on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.. The meeting will provide information in regards to financial obligations, upcoming calendar dates, and the constitution in place for Cheerleading. Tryouts clinics will be March 2nd-6th at McMillen High School from 4:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. in the big gym.

Regarding Absences If you need to sign your student out during the day, please ask your student to stop by the attendance office to obtain a pass to exit class. Any student waiting in the front office more than 10 minutes, will be sent back to class.
