Dear Cathedral & St. Mary Mission Family,
We celebrate the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity this
weekend – drawing us into the mystery of God. The
Catechism expresses beautifully what this means for us:
“God has revealed His innermost secret: God Himself is
an eternal exchange of love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
and He has destined us to share in that exchange.” (CCC
n. 221) While we so often experience division, given our
wounded and sinful human nature, the mystery of the
Trinity shows us the unity God has created us for. May the
Holy Spirit continue to heal wounds of division and help
us grow in the love of the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit.
Thank you to all of you who are responding to our
“Faithful Living – Grateful Giving” appeal and to Tim
Bennett and Neil Newcomb for speaking at Masses this
weekend! Everyone who contributes to our parish allows
us to serve the Lord and be a channel of His mercy to
others… Thank you!
Our “Ignite” evening will be this Tuesday, May 29th
starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Hall. As always we’ll enjoy
good food, fellowship, Adoration, songs of worship, and
Benediction. Please sign up on the bulletin board and
come!
Next weekend we celebrate Corpus Christi with a
Eucharistic Procession starting at St. Michael Parish at
12:15 p.m. on Sunday and ending here at the Cathedral
with Benediction and a lunch prepared by our Frassati
Society. Please plan to participate! God bless you all!
In the Hearts of Jesus and Mary,
Rev. Msgr. Michael Steber
SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY
The eleven disciples went to Galilee,
to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them,
"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."
— the Sunday Gospel, Matthew 28: 16-20

The Tabernacle Light Is Burning This Week
In Memory of Leslie Pelto by Sarah Pelto
Unimaginably PPFA’s Cecile Richards given
“human rights award”
Last Wednesday the Leadership Conference on Civil and
Human Rights hosted its annual Hubert H. Humphrey Civil and
Human Rights Award Dinner, “honoring inspiring change agents
leading the defining movements of the 21st century.” Among
the “inspiring change agents” was former Planned Parenthood
president Cecile Richards.
This is a bitter bill for any pro-lifer–giving a “human rights award” to a woman who presided over an organization that took the lives or more than 3.5 million unborn babies while she was president. It is even harder for those of us from Minneso-ta where Mr. Humphrey was first mayor of Minneapolis, then senator from Minnesota from 1949 to 1964 and 1971 to 1978, and in-between those two stints vice president under Lyndon Johnson. Even my apolitical father admired Humphrey.
“HHH,” as he was known, is famous to pro-lifers for once stating “The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”
So how did the Leadership Conference describe Richards? For starters as “a nationally respected leader in women’s health and reproductive rights.”
“Planned Parenthood has worked for more than 100 years to build a healthier and safer world for women, men, and young people. She has grown advocacy efforts to fight for expanded access to health care, and has led innumer-able nationwide campaigns to preserve patients’ access to preventive health care at Planned Parenthood health centers through federal programs.”
Not a safer world for millions of unborn girls and boys, we can say with assurance.
