Introduction

On Job Training (OJT) is one of the best training methods because it is planned,

organized and conducted at the employees worksite. OJT will generally be the primary

method used for broadening skills and increasing productivity. It is particularly

appropriate for developing proficiency skills unique to an employees job especially

jobs that are relatively easy to learn and require locally owned equipment and facilities.

Morale, productivity, and professionalism will normally be high in those

organizations that employ a sound OJT program.

An analysis of the major job requirements (identified in the position description

and performance plan) and related knowledge, skills, and abilities form the basis of

setting up an OJT plan.

OJT is dependent upon the trainer having sufficient knowledge and expertise to

import to the trainee. OJT is important and the quality of OJT can be considerably

improved through effective design.

Advantages of using OJT:-

y Training can be delivered at the optimum time: for example immediately before a

job is to be performed for real in workplace

y The trainee will have opportunities to practice immediately.

y The trainee will have immediate feedback.

y Training is delivered by colleagues and can go some way to integrate the trainee

into the team.

Company Profile

Rajendra Engineering Industries was established in 1985 by Mr. Pon Vincent

who is the proprietor as small unit. It has grown to be big engineering industries.

They were initially manufacturing the house hold things like steel Cot, biro, chair, table

etc. then over the time; they started to manufacture steel and iron rods which are used

in building construction. Then they started to take manufacturing orders for hospital bed,

benches, table, chairs for schools and hotels.

In 1997, Rajendra Engineering industries has been modified and brought new

machineries to cope up with growing new needs and to increase the productive

In 2010, it has been shifted to a new location in the outskirts of Pettai, on

Cheranmahadevi road and a bigger facility for manufacturing was built and more

employees were recruited.

The delivery of the manufactured goods is now delivered to the customers by dedicated

delivery team.

Production Process

The products are being manufactured from CR (Cold Rolled) steel. The CR steel

is the raw material for manufacturing cot, biro, table, chair, etc. Rejandra Engineering

Industries would buy the CR steels from steel wholesale dealers in Tirunelveli Town and

along with it the paint, locks for biro, screw & bolt.

The materials will be delivered to Rajendra Engineering Industries. The CR steel

will be cut into different shapes for different products. The cut pieces of the steel will be

bending to make it for the desired shapes.

The shaped pieces will be sent to the welders for joining the pieces to frame the

particular product. Some parts of the product will be joined using screw and bolt.

The framed product will be sent to painting section. The painters will use spray

machines to paint the product. There will be different design pattern frames are

available, using which the painter will make different designs in the product while

painting. The painting will be done in a closed area and the painted product will be

placed in the sun shine for drying.

The parts of the product will be ready now. The parts will be placed and full

product will be made and locks will be attached for the products like biro, table with

locker.
