CHAPTER III

What Have I Learned? The on the job training conducted in 9TV located in Panay Ave., Quezon City is successfully finished by the trainee. The trainee achieved its goal in conducting the training program. After 2 months of On-the-job training at 9TV and Broadcasting Network, I felt what the real world of ECE is. The trainee learned many things when it comes to technical, planning and how attitude you can imply to others. At the end of the training, the trainee was able to troubleshoot some minor problems in the equipments like some power amplifier that are malfunction. The trainee also attended trainings and demonstrations about proposed equipments and instruments for Transmitter area and has learned also the parts of an outside broadcasting van. The oldest outside broadcasting van is in the Panay branch from the RPN9 van. The trainee learned some experience that some lectures in the school are applied in the on-the-job training. The trainee was able to learn the significance of the different equipments used in 9TV BROADCASTING NETWORK.As an On-the-job trainee at 9TV, I learned several technical skills such as monitoring transmitter, antenna polarization, propagating required frequency at broadcasting network, repairing power supply, operating signing on/off and changing fiber optic filter in transmitter. These skills are properly explained to the trainee. The trainee also learned the proper maintenance for every ones a year in transmitter equipments. Some of the technology that are used are very high-tech it was made from other country like Spain and Italy. One example is an antenna that is capable of transmitting digital signals more effectively. This antenna has been tested in 9TV because as of now, the company is trying to improve their technology and finding great ways to deliver information to their audiences efficiently and effectively.9TV has many equipments, machinery and testing apparatus. Some equipments and apparatuses that I will introduce are the necessary equipments that are used in the company. One of these is the GENSET. It is the primary equipment that is needed to supply the power when the power interruption occurs. The use of these is like that of generators that we used in our home but this equipment is big and it is noisier.

I had a great time and experience with the company personnel of 9TV. They are friendly and approachable. They are selflessly shared their knowledge and time for me to teach many things especially in the field even though there are many things to do. Engr. John Archilles Denna, one of my supervisors, is very flexible he does most of the office work and technical work in the company, he is kind and friendly, and he teaches me about programming and repairing computers because he is a computer technician. He also motivates me to push through with my course and to be an electronics engineer. He also gives advices and tips about the real world for my future job. He is really a good supervisor he treated me not as a trainee but as an employee who works under him. I have learned a lot from him and those things will remain in me. I will apply all of those and share it to others as well.Engr. Gerald B. Cabrillos is also one of my supervisors and he is the one who is always in the field. He is very kind and friendly. Very often, I am with him I learned many things from him especially in technical things, installation and troubleshooting he works slowly but surely he teaches me that, in work you must analyze it first before you move. Staying as a trainee in 9TV with its personnel is really fun and a good experience. They treat me well and it is a privileged to work with them that makes my On-the-job training fun and worthy. For me, the first practices that need to apply is to become being punctual, from the Filipinos line Daig ng maagap ang masipag. Make adjustments on your time, time is gold. The others are being honest, respectful, humble and also committed to his/her work.As a trainee you should perform these practices to achieve what you want in your life. As a future engineer, these attitudes show professionalisms; once you exemplify these to others they will reward you. All of us will start from the bottom it depends on you what techniques, skills, and attitudes youll show to them. But at the end, stay being humble and dont forget to thank on God what has planned for youWell disciplined person will never let down others; also they will help you in times of need. Challenging obstacles in company is a part of the job. For me once you have cooperation, your success will come to you. Dont be selfish many companies find this kind of quality in the job. I have seen some strong points that they have. All of them know what to do with their respective position or job. They can give you some experiences that they have encountered and some learning that they really treasure. They are very flexible; they can be assigned in different fields. They are all positive thinkers and will not let you down. If they see that you have nothing to do, they will make a way to not waste time. They will teach you different things or they will say something that will motivate you.During my stay in the 9TV broadcasting Company, I have observed that I have the developed my confidence. I was able to cooperate well with my co-interns as well as to the personnel assigned in the said company. My perseverance was also developed. I have gained knowledge contributed by the experienced workers. For the company, I have seen such main improvement regarding their instruments and equipments used for better transmission and broadcasting. 9TV provides an excellent treatment with their employees as well to their trainees, I can say for I have experienced this. Many perks are given to those who are working in the company to maintain their workers enthusiasm. The company also has a weak point based on my observation. Some of their employees lack respect to some of their new co-employees, they act like a boss to them but at the end they treat them kind sometimes. My suggestion for some of their supervisors is to monitor their workers in order for them to have coordination in their job.Same weakness I have for myself is that sometimes I lack respect to my co-intern.Sometimes joke go too far, without taking consideration what they may feel about it. But I have already overcome it, we have talked about it and everything is settled.

RECOMMENDATION9TV Broadcasting Network has valuable potentials as a training ground for trainees. It has indeed offered trainees a wide variety of learning experiences and growth through different engagements in on-site installation, repair and troubleshooting. Thus, my skills in these areas were highly improved. Facilities, equipment and machinery used in 9TV have a good ground for every trainee who finds on-the-job-training for this course. They will give you hands-on skills with their equipments; they also give lectures that you need in field. The facilities are fit to the KBP requirements in building network operation. They also have new equipments from the other country which are worth hundreds of thousand for acquiring high innovation for their company. 9TV Broadcasting Network has indeed of employees who were committed, professionals and experienced in their own respective fields of specialization. Since I was assigned in the engineering department of the company, I was placed in an environment where communication skills must be evident to be able to get things done through. The employee has been very selfless in sharing their expertise and experiences with us that enable me to learn and work hard at the same time. 9TV personnel are all professional in terms of their work; they are very humble and generous. They are not selfish since they shared and taught me all of the things that they knew in their work. They also did not ask me to do things that they know that I didnt know. They taught me first what to do, then let me do those things on my own. They are skilful and flexible in different fields of their work. They are committed in their work and finished it correctly. I recommend to the future On-the-job trainee to search a company that will suit their interests and skills. I also suggest that if they take the on-the-job training in regular semester they need to finish it early for them to focus on their other major subjects, it is hard to adjust the time when your stamina is not ready for the other tasks that you need to do. And they should be ready at all times, be resourceful, be faithful, be alert and be enthusiastic every day.
