Margherita Pizza

Recipe by Amanda CashOwner, The Magpie Food Truck

1 batch prepared pizza dough, thawed and divided in 4

1 pizza stone

1 pizza peel

1 tablespoon semolina flour or corn meal

fresh mozzarella

fresh tomatoes, diced

fresh basil, chopped

olive oil

salt and pepper

crushed red pepper, optional

1. Take dough out of refrigerator 1 hour prior to baking and allow dough to warm to room temperature.

Note: Get the recipe for homemade pizza dough here.

2. Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Once oven comes to temperature, place pizza stone in the oven and let stone heat up for 1 hour.

3. Place 1 ball of room temperature dough on lightly floured surface and begin to roll out. Roll thinly so the dough cooks quickly, doesn’t get soggy and maintains a crunch.

4. Coat pizza peel with semolina flour or corn meal and

place dough on top to coat the bottom of the pizza.

5. Top the dough with mozzarella, tomatoes and basil to your liking.

6. Drizzle olive oil over top and season with salt, black pepper and crushed red pepper to taste.

7. Put in oven and bake for approximately 9 minutes, or until cheese is melted and crust is nicely browned.
