Did you know that drug information from Micromedex is accessible in DynaMed Plus? Micromedex is integrated into DynaMed Plus to make searching for drug information easier and simpler. As seen in the example below, type the name of the drug in DynaMed Plus and then from the left side choose Drug Interactions or Adverse Effects. As you scroll through the information on the right, you will come across a link that says, DRUGDEX Subscribers See additional details for (name of drug), click on the link. Please note that DRUGDEX links may also be found within the other topics listed on the left side.

The DRUGDEX Subscriber link will take you directly to the drug information in Micromedex:

Research Highlight— Dynavision Normative Data for Reaction Time

Congratulations to the Dynavision Research Team: Lori Dryg, Cherie Blackwell, Kristen Mandle, Kathy Cary, Kami Holst, Emma Hendricks and Dr. Jon Lemke! After 3 years of enrollment and 300 participants, this team has completed enrollment in the Dynavision Normative Data for Reaction Time study! The purpose of this study was to collect normative data for visual reaction speed, physical response speed and motor response time for the Dynavision D2 Visuomotor Training System that is located at Genesis’s Devil’s Glen location. The Dynavision system is used to assess reaction times with patients who have experienced a brain injury or stroke. This study will allow Genesis Occupational Therapists to establish norms for visual reaction, physical response and motor response times to assist therapists in properly assessing and treating visual perceptual deficits. Visual perception is an important skill needed for activities of daily living such as reading, functional math, functional mobility and driving.

This study team will be presenting their study findings at the Research Summit on June 9! You don’t want to miss it!

Policy Update—Conflicts of Interest in Research

There was recently a change to the Genesis Conflicts of Interest in Research policy, which will reduce the number of trainings required for researchers that are NOT conducting research funded by the Public Health Service (e.g., National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Food and Drug Administration). The "Training" section of the Conflicts of Interest in Research policy was amended to apply only to individuals responsible for the design, conduct or reporting of a Public Health Service funded research study. This is consistent with the applicable law, 42 CFR Part 50, Subpart F, that identifies Conflict of Interest in Research training requirements for investigators. Investigators that do participate in Public Health Service funded research will need to complete Conflicts of Interest in Research Training once every four years, per federal regulation. The Genesis Research office will continue to notify eligible investigators of their training requirements and subsequent time line for completion. All individuals, regardless of funding, responsible for the design, conduct or reporting of a research study will still be required to complete the following items prior to participating in research at Genesis (as stated in the Conflicts of Interest in Research policy): 1. NIH Protecting Human Subjects in Research training, or equivalent (one-time) 2. Conflicts of Interest Disclosure (annually) The revised policy can be found on the Genesis Research website at www.genesishealth.com/research under the “Information for Researchers” tab. Please contact Sarah Castro at [email protected] or 563-421-7957 with any questions.
