Welcome back to Term 4. Congratulations to all the major and academic award winners in Year 12. Congratulations also to the End of Term Draw winners from the end of term 3.

Once again we have a busy term with lots of extra-curricular activities happening within the school.

Firstly, good luck and best wishes to all our year 12 students who began their HSC Examinations this week. We hope that the exams go smoothly for you all.

With all the activities going on, it is important for students to return notes and money to the front office within the correct time period. Please keep an eye out at home for any notes that may be coming your way.

During this busy term it is also important for all students to be in the correct place at the correct time. This means arriving at school on time to receive any messages being given out and getting to class on time. If students need to sign out for appointments during the school day they should bring a permission note from parents/carers to the Student Services desk before 9am to be processed. Parents and carers are reminded that it is very difficult for administration staff to find students during the lunch break if an early departure hasn’t previously been arranged. Your co-operation would be appreciated.

From the Relieving Deputies ...Ms Kearney and Miss Bennett

SRC NEWS

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL

Recently I had the pleasure of saying good bye to our outgoing SRC students who have baked, sausage sizzled, ice-cupped, dressed up, danced, floated, clowned around and most importantly had fun.

We have supported genetic research by double deniming; helped kids with cancer get a better education by wearing our footy colours, assisted the McGrath foundation to supply Breast Care Nurses in communities around Australia by wearing our pink and playing some cricket and pretended we were in the circus to raise funds for the Clown Doctors who brighten sick kids stay in hospital.

Thank you to our Student Representative Council for your achievements this year. You should be very proud of the work you have done. I would like to especially mention our Senior SRC members, Emily Burston, Leila Snow-Wood and Abbey Eggins, our Vice President’s, Charlotte Bradley and Brendon Parker and our Presidents Abby Brooker and Clarke Cahill. You have participated in all SRC events throughout the year in a professional and committed manner and I am going to miss having you around to successfully run events for us. As Tina Turner would say… you are simply the best!!

I also would like to congratulate our incoming members on being elected into our Student Representative Council, in particular our senior students who nominated themselves to lead our SRC.

Finally a big congratulations to our new SRC Presidents Max Lynch and Kristi-Lee Gollan and our Vice-Presidents Chase Armfield and Isaachar Fraser. Mrs Fisher and I look forward to hearing your fresh ideas and planning fun school events with you. Thank you, Miss Robbins

SCHOOL SOCIAL The Bogan Social held Wednesday 14 September at the Casino RSM was a great evening. There were quite a few fabulous outfits and new haircuts to really take the Bogan theme to the next level. The introduction of a “Lip Sinc Battle” was awesome with some hilarious performances by Wayne Gordon V Kurtis Cumming and Grahdy Carr V Zac Gray. Thank you to all of the staff and students who attended the social to farewell our current Year 12 students who certainly made their mark as great leaders! Thank you, Mrs Fisher. .

RABBITOHS PUBLICITY TOUR Approximately 40 students travelled to Casino Public School in Term 3 to meet South Sydney Rabbitohs players, Adam Reynolds, Greg Inglis and Cody Walker. Matt King brought them along to visit local schools and share their message. It was a great experience to meet these players up close and some of our students got the chance to ask the players some probing questions. Thank you to Shaun Piccoli from the primary school for inviting our students along.

NORTHERN RIVERS ZONE U14’s BOYS & GIRLS FUTSAL Our Under 14’s Boys and Girls Futsal teams participated in the Northern Rivers Zone Boys & Girls Futsal at our local Casino Indoor Sports Stadium on 13th September.

The U14’s Girls team had to face Kadina High Campus first up in Round 1. The girls got off to a great start with Sara Cole scoring in the second minute. Unfortunately this sparked something in Kadina and they rallied and came back strongly in the first half to lead 5-1 at half time. The girls settled a bit in the second half and Emily Taylor-Talbot scored a great goal. Unfortunately Kadina were too experienced for our girls and they went down 9-2. A great effort by all with some of the team experiencing Futsal for the first time.

The U14’s Boys team came up first against Richmond River in Round 1. The first half was quite even on both teams with the halftime score being 2-2. Joshua Barton scored the first goal with a great run through from the backs. Ezra Frost scored the second with some great combinations happening between Joshua and Ezra. James Hayes made some great saves in the first half to keep the boys in the game. The boys came out firing in the second half and Ezra put some pressure on the opposition’s defence and stole the ball and put it in the back of the net. Ezra scored again soon after through some combination play with Kian Bradley. In the 7th minute Ezra caught the other team napping and took a long shot to score again. Joshua Barton scored again late in the second half allowing the boys to win 6-4. James Hayes had a solid performance as goalkeeper.

This win led the boys into Round 2 against Kadina. Kian Bradley scored early through a nutmeg play. Joshua Barton, Ezra Frost, Joel Brus and Kayne Blasche all added goals to the tally to lead 5-1 at half time. Some great play and teamwork amongst the players led to many of these goals. Kayne scored early in the second half and the game was well and truly won with the boys taking the game 6-2. This sent them through to the Zone final against a very strong Alstonville High School side. Alstonville came out firing very early and took an early lead of 4-0 after only five minutes of play. Our boys rallied though and Joshua Barton managed to peg one goal back in the first half. The boys seemed to settle much better in the second half and gained some confidence when Ezra scored two goals early on. Alstonville however still rallied and managed to score another three goals. The team never gave up and kept pressing and were rewarded with a goal late in the game to Kayne Blasche. Unfortunately it was not enough with Alstonville winning 8-4. The boys should be proud though of their efforts and their teamwork. For some of them this was the first time experiencing Futsal at this level.

Thank you to Stella Allen, Talarra Berry, Maddison Langbein, Bryce Chapman, Blair Haynes and Shaun Porter who helped out on the day. Miss Evenden
