3−4 P.M. SWEET DESIGN: THE CREATIVE MINDS OF TOP PASTRY CHEFSThe International Culinary Center (ICC), NYC’s premier cooking school, celebrates the intersection of pastry and design. Panelists: Master pastry chef Jacques Torres of Jacques Torres Chocolate; Michelle Doll-Olson, owner of Michelle Doll Cakes and chef instructor at ICC; and Susanna Yoon, chef-owner of Stick With Me. Moderator: Food columnist Charlotte Druckman.

HOTEL/HOME: THE NEW DESIGN CONNECTIONAs hotel design throughout the world becomes more sophisticated, homeowners are looking to incorporate many of those style elements into their personal spaces. At the same time, hotel designers are being asked to create rooms that reflect idealized homelike environments. A discussion moderated by design expert Ilene Shaw explores how the two sensibilities are merging. Panelists: Jacqueline McGee of CBT; Stephen Brockman of Deborah Berke Partners; and Vince Stroop of Stonehill & Taylor.

SUNDAY, MARCH 20NOON−1 P.M. WINDOWS & WALLS TODAYThere is no easier or more cost-effective way to give a room renewed zip and style than by adding new window and wall treatments. A panel of experts in the field, moderated by noted consultant Alana Frumkes, shares insider tips on achieving transformative effects in these two key areas of home design. Join moderator Vanessa Deleon, interior designer and TV personality, as she leads a panel of experts who will discuss how to do just that—from upgrading the kitchen with revolutionary new appliances that contribute to a healthier, more convenient lifestyle to simple design tips you can use to make sure their space feels current and fresh to trends in home renovation that speak to a new way of looking at form versus function.

THE ART OF CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS2−3 P.M.Designers reveal how they maintain good relationships with their clients—from start to finish. Featuring some of the biggest names in the industry, the discussion will cover how to approach the client interview process, interpret a client’s wants and needs, decide when it’s appropriate to send an associate to a meeting, and the best way to present your final design vision. Once the job is complete, there are still factors to consider, such as how to handle the big reveal and what home-maintenance services should be offered.
