    2016-2017 SCHOOL THEME

Our school theme for this school year is APPROVED! It is based on Galatians 1:10:

Am I now trying to win the approval of men or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

We live in a world that predominately doesn’t know Jesus as their Savior, nor acknowledge his love in their lives. God has given us the privilege and responsibil-ity to share the gospel with the world around us. One way we let our light shine is the way we live our lives. We don’t live a Godly life to please people in the world around us, but rather in recognition of and thankfulness for God’s love in our lives. To God be the glory!

    GRADE DIVISIONS AND STAFF

    Special Thanks!

During this past school year, several part-time teachers and aids assisted our multi-grade classrooms. Their assistance not only helped our teachers, but they also helped educate our students in several areas.

Mrs. Bloom taught kindergarten math and reading Monday-Thursday mornings.

Mrs. Bingham taught 2nd grade spelling and gave 5th-6th spelling tests.

Mrs. Hintz taught 2nd grade reading, 5th-8th grade reading, creative writing, and Phy Ed.

Mrs. LaPoint taught 5th-8th music and art.

Mrs. Sarro served as our school librarian.

The hard work and dedication of these wonderful women has helped our school immensely. We thank God for you!

This coming school year, Mrs. LaPoint and Mrs. Hintz will continue to teach a few classes in 5th-8th to provide Mr. Hintz administrative release time. Mrs. Sarro will continue to serve as our school librari-an. The classes taught by Mrs. Bloom and Mrs. Bingham will be taught by Mrs. MacDonald and Mrs. Hoffman. Thank you Mrs. Bloom and Mrs. Bingham for your service to the Lord at Christ the King!

    New 1-2 Teacher

On March 6, Christ the King’s voting mem-bers extended a Divine Call to Mrs. Erica Hoffman to fill our 0.75 FTE (Full Time Equivalency) 1st-2nd grade position and two 5th-8th classes next school year. Mrs. Hoffman accepted the position. We are excited to have her join our staff.

Mrs. Hoffman is married to Mason and they have two children (Olivia and Cade). The Hoffman family will be moving from Hawaii to Washington in the middle of July. Adding Mrs. Hoffman to our staff will allow all core classes for K, 1-2, and 3-4

graders to be taught by sepa-rate teachers. This will in-crease instruc-tion time and improve the quality of edu-cation offered in our class-rooms. We thank God for allowing us to call another teacher, to help

improve the education offered at Christ the King, and ask his continued blessing on our efforts of sharing the gospel and providing excellence in education.

    CTK WEBSITE & FACEBOOK

Our website, ctk-wels.org, is a very pow-erful tool we use for outreach into the community and to share important infor-mation and upcoming events with you, our CtK families. We are working on up-dating the website to include all the im-portant information that our families and potential families would like to see.

In you haven’t been to our Facebook page in a while, go check it out (facebook.com/ctksilverdale). Recent posts include pic-tures from the end of the year, a video of our digital yearbook, and even a fun video of the demo of wall during our classroom remodel in June.

Our very informative Summer Newsletter was sent out to our school families this past week and then placed on our Face-book page. Printed copies are on the counter in the church lobby for those who would like to read it but who do not use Facebook.

Our staff decided to deactivate our CtK Preschool Facebook page. Christ the

King's preschool - eighth grade is one school, existing on one campus, carrying out one mission. We show our unity in a variety of ways, and we'd like our Face-book page to do the same.

We'd like all our CtK followers to like our Christ the King Lutheran School page (facebook.com/ctksilverdale).

SCHOOL ACCREDITATION In April 2017, Lord-willing, we will com-plete our School Accreditation process. School Accreditation is a wonderful pro-cess that strengthens a school by ensuring procedures and policies are in place to keep the school operating efficiently and long term goals are created to ensure the school has improvement plans for the future.

In April, a site visit team will come and assess the self-study that has been written by our Board of Education, staff, congre-gation members, and school families. Up-on completing the Accreditation process, we will receive a certificate of Accredita-tion through our Synod’s accrediting body, Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod School Accreditation (WELSSA). WELSSA is accredited by the National Council of Pri-vate Schools Association (NCPSA).

The Board of Education will ensure our school continues to move forward by re-vising and implementing a School Im-provement Plan that will be submitted to the Commission on Lutheran Schools (CLS) office each June. After five years, the en-tire Accreditation self-study is repeated. School Accreditation is a great way to en-sure our school if following proven, good practices, as well as, having a school im-provement plan that is revised annually.

CLASSROOM REMODEL Here we GROW again! God is blessing CtK’s enrollment. How exciting. God be praised! We’re adding a new teacher to our staff, which means we need another classroom. The day after school was over, we began our classroom remodel project. We removed part of the wall between the library and workroom and built a new wall to make a smaller workroom and L-shaped classroom. The project is nearly complete and the teachers have begun setting up their classrooms.

This new classroom will become our pre-school classroom. Mrs. Paulsen is excited to have her class in the main school build-ing, so her class can be more connected to the lower grade students in our school. The 5th-8th classroom will become the new 1st-2nd grades classroom. The 2nd-4th class-room will become the 3rd-4th classroom. The K-1st classroom will become the Kin-dergarten classroom. The 5th-8th graders will move to what was the preschool class-room last year. Mr. Hintz is excited to have a larger classroom for his four grades. This move will also create a little bit of a “junior high feel” for our upper grade students.

A special thanks goes out to the individuals that gave of their time and energy to com-plete this project in a month.

We’ve pass all inspections and are free to occupy the remodeled spaces.
