As we begin our Lenten season with Ash Wednesday, we can look back on many Lents in our past and see how
many challenges were put in our path, but so few were taken up. The challenge to be a more loving person to our family, putting aside judgments to other human beings, is what we are asked to change, in order to be the best person God wants us to be. We first must realize we as humans need to change some of our ways, so as to live a more Christian life. If we say we believe in our God Who has given His all for us, so that we can share eternal life with Him in heaven, then we must look deep into our lives and when we see the need for a change, we respond quickly and securely in the grace of God. WE ARE ALL SINNERS, WE ALL NEED TO GET CLOSER TO THE LORD AND LIVE A MORE SPIRITUAL LIFE. Our oppor-tunity is here as we begin Lent. On Fridays (English) and Fridays (Spanish), we have Stations of the Cross and Mass. English mass will be at 9:00 am followed by the Stations of the Cross. Spanish Mass will be at 6:00 pm followed by the Stations of the Cross. This is a great opportunity to open ourselves to the Lord and feel deeply His suffering and death. These are great opportunities for our people to participate in a grace-filled moment of faith and invite a family member or friend from the neigh-borhood or work, to join us. Many Catholic/Christians have slipped away or do not see the val-ue of the Church in our time. This could be a great moment for us of strong faith, to help others who have lost faith and realize something is miss-ing, but do not realize it is God from their lives. Hopefully, we will fill our church on these nights of grace and bless others by our witness to Christ our Savior. All too often, we are not good witnesses for Christ and this could be our moment to show our world, WE DO BELIEVE, WE DO LOVE OUR GOD. Let us make this Lent of 2021, a great suc-cess, to the glory of God. THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU, MAY HE LET HIS FACE TO SHINE ON US ALL.
CUARESMA 2021 Así como hemos dado principio a este tiempo de Cuaresma con el miércoles de ceniza, pode-mos ver hacia atrás y darnos cuenta cuantas
cuaresmas hemos pasado y cuantas tareas nos hemos dado poniendo nuestras metas ,pero somos muy poco los que ha-cemos esto. La gran tarea para nosotros es ser personas que amemos mas a nuestras familias, poniendo a un lado, todos los juicios que desconsideradamente hacemos en contra y por eso se nos pide que cambiemos, para lograr llegara ser buenas personas y hacer lo que Dios quiere de nosotros . Primero hay que darnos cuentas que somos humanos y nece-sitamos hacer algunos cambios, para que podamos vivir co-mo mejores Cristianos. Si nosotros decimos que creemos en nuestro Dios que se entrego del todo por nosotros, para que nosotros podamos gozar de la vida eterna con El, en el cielo, entonces nosotros debemos de buscar las formas posibles que nos ayuden a cambiar , nosotros respondemos rápido y con seguridad a la gracia de Dios . NOSOTROS TODOS SO-MOS PECADORES, TODOS NECESITAMOS HACER-CARNOS MAS AL SEÑOR Y LLEVAR UNA VIDA MAS ESPIRITUAL. Nuestra oportunidad comienza al iniciar la Cuaresma. Los Viernes (ingles) y viernes (español) , celebramos Misa y las estaciones de la Cruz. A las 9:00 am la celebración de la Santa Misa se llevara a cabo en Ingles, continuando con las Estaciones de la Cruz. A las 6:00 pm. Se llevara a cabo la celebración de la Santa Misa en Español, continuando con las Estaciones de La Cruz. Esta es nuestra oportunidad para abrirnos con el Señor y profundizarnos en el sufrimiento de Su muerte. Estas son una gran oportunidad para puedan participar, en un mo-mento lleno de gracia e invitar a los miembros de nuestra familia o amistades del trabajo o vecinos que nos acompa-ñen. Muchos Católicos/ Cristianos se han retirado y no se dieron la oportunidad ni el tiempo para conocer las Santa Doctrina de nuestra iglesia Católica Apostólica y Romana. Ellos nos de dan cuenta que de quien se han alejado es de Dios. Ojala, que muchas personas acudan a las estaciones de la Cruz y reciban un cambio, la gracia y la bendición de Dios cuando convencidos nos convertimos en verdaderos testigos de Jesucristo nuestro Salvador. Este es nuestro gran momento para mostrar al mundo, SI DE VERDAD CREE-MOS EN DIOS, AMEMOSLE Y AMEMOS A NUESTRO PROJIMO COMO A NOSOTROS MISMOS. Que este tiempo de Cuaresma 2021, sea un gran éxito en sus vidas y que para Dios sea toda la gloria. QUE DIOS LES BENDIGA Y LOS MANTENGA BIEN, QUE EN SU ROSTRO SE RE-FLEJE LA PAZ, LA SERENIDAD Y EL GOZO POR SER HIJOS DE DIOS, HERMANOS DE JESUCRISTO Y HE-REDEROS DEL CIELO. DIOS LES BENDIGA A TODOS.

How to Live Lent
We know that Lent begins with Ash Wed-
nesday and that for the next forty days we
are invited to prepare spiritually to celebrate the Passo-
ver of our Lord Jesus Christ. But how can we prepare?
The Catholic Information Agency shares the following
suggestions with us:
First of all, the life of prayer, an indispensable
condition for the encounter with God. In prayer, if the
believer enters into intimate dialogue with the Lord, he
lets divine grace penetrate his heart and, like St Mary,
the prayer of the Spirit is opened by cooperating with
her with her free and generous response (see Lk 1:38)

Other suggestions:
Listen and ponder the word of God and turn
more often to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the
Eucharist.
Humbly accept the different setbacks and diffi-
culties that come before us in our daily lives to walk and
give up certain things that help us live the detachment
and detachment of what leads us to sin.
Among the different Lent practices proposed by
the Church, the experience of charity occupies a special
place. St. Leo the Great reminds us: "These Lent days
invite us urgently to the exercise of charity; if we want
to reach Easter sanctified in our being, we must put a
very special interest in the acquisition of this virtue,
which contains in itself others and covers many
sins"..."the most precious and effective good, which is
that of coherence with one's Christian vocation" (John

Como Vivir la Cuaresma
Sabemos que la cuaresma comienza con el
miércoles de ceniza y que durante los siguien-
tes cuarenta días estamos invitados a prepararnos espiritual-
mente para celebrar la pascua de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
Pero ¿ de que manera podremos prepararnos? La Agencia
Católica de Informaciones nos comparte las siguientes suge-
rencias:
Ante todo, la vida de oración, condición indispensable para
el encuentro con Dios. En la oración, si el creyente ingresa
en el diálogo íntimo con el Señor, deja que la gracia divina
penetre su corazón y, a semejanza de Santa María, se abre la
oración del Espíritu cooperando a ella con su respuesta libre
y generosa (ver Lc 1,38) (aciprensa.com)
Otra sugerencias:
Escuchar y meditar la palabra de Dios y recurrir con
más frecuencia al Sacramento de la Reconciliación y Euca-
ristía.
Aceptar con humildad los distintos contratiempos y dificulta-
des que se nos presentan en nuestro diario caminar y renun-
ciar a ciertas cosas que nos ayuden a vivir el desapego y des-
prendimiento de lo que nos conduce a pecar. De entre
las distintas prácticas cuaresmales que nos propone la Iglesia,
la vivencia de la caridad ocupa un lugar especial. Así nos lo
recuerda San León Magno: "Estos días cuaresmales nos invi-
tan de manera apremiante al ejercicio de la caridad; si desea-
mos llegar a la Pascua santificados en nuestro ser, debemos
poner un interés especialísimo en la adquisición de esta vir-
tud, que contiene en si a las demás y cubre multitud de peca-
dos"…"el bien más precioso y efectivo, que es el de la cohe-
rencia con la propia vocación cristiana" (Juan Pablo II).

Nuestros Obispos nos invitan hacer un compromiso para ayudar en el trabajo de nuestros programas dioce-sanos y ministerios que mejoran a nuestra Iglesia ayu-dando a todos los hijos de Dios a que construyan rela-cion con El. Este esfuerzo es una manera en el cual po-dramos trabajar juntos para cuidar a la Iglesia compar-tiendo los regalos que Dios nos ha dado. Les damos la bienvenida y lo animamos a unirse con nosotros a ayu-dar alegremente al Fondo del Desarrollo Diocesano (DDF) del 2021 que empezara esta semana. Aunque los programas de nuestra Iglesia son muy im-portantes porque la mayoria del trabajo de la Iglesia y la Diocesis se lleva a cabo en nuestra comunidad, tambien hay ciertos servicios y programas especializados por el cual la Diocesis, nuestra madre Iglesia, tiene resposabi-lidades como: cuidar y proveer por nuestros sacerdotes retirados, educar a nuestros seminaristas, servicios a nuestras familias, formar a nuestros Diaconos, hermanas y hermanos… terrenos para futuras Iglesias, nombrando solamente algunos de los programas y servicios que el DDF apoya. Si usted a contribuido anteriormente al programa del DDF, y ya recibio su sobre o tarjeta de compromiso, por favor, traigalo a la canasta de colecta la proxima semana o mandela por correo. Estamos realmente agradecidos por el apoyo que nos ha brindado ahora y en el pasado. Once a year, our Bishops invites each of us to make a commitment to support the work of our diocesan pro-grams and ministries that enhance our church by help-ing all of God’s children build deeper and more mean-ingful relationships with Him. This effort is a means by which we can all work together to care for the church by sharing the gifts God has granted us. We welcome and encourage you to join us in joyfully sup-porting the 2021 Diocesan Development Fund that will start this week. Although the programs from our Parish are very im-portant because much of the work of the Church and the Diocese takes place within the parish community, there are also certain specialized services and pro-grams for which our Diocese, our larger Church, has to take responsibility like: caring for our retired priests, educating our seminarians, social concerns, forming our Deacons, sisters, brothers and lay people, land for future churches, just to name a few programs the DDF funds. If you have previously contributed to the DDF pro-gram, and you already received this year’s envelope or pledge card, please bring it to the collection basket next week or mail it in. We are truly grateful for the support you have given now and in the past. For the rest of us, we will be filling out the DDF enve-lopes in our chairs during all services and encourage all parishioners to once again participate in the pro-gram. Los días de Cuaresma aveces se com-paran a un viaje. Al final esperamos encontrarnos en un lugar diferente. Cada Cuaresma nos hace volver a llamado a nuestro compromiso bau s-mal y a la lucha con las preguntas di ciles, nos preguntaron: ¿Renuncian a Satanás? ¿Crees en Dios? ¿Usted cree en la Iglesia?
La Iglesia nos ofrece muchas oportunidades y ex-periencias que nos ayudan en esta lucha en ser renovados en nuestras promesas bau smales. El compromiso para dar limosna, orar todos los días, hacer obras de jus cia, y uno que otro ayuno.
� Este año la Cuaresma comienza el 17 de febrero. Durante el empo de Cuaresma, se observan dos días de ayuno y abs nencia: Miércoles de Ceniza, 26 de febrero y viernes de la Pasión del Señor, (Viernes Santo) 2 de abril abs nencia también se observa en todos los viernes durante la Cuar-esma.
� La regulación con respecto a la disciplina del ayuno de Cuaresma nos llama a comer sólo una (1) comida completa durante el día. Dos comidas adicionales, suficientes para mantener la fuerza, pueden tomarse de acuerdo a las necesidades de cada uno; No se permite comer entre horas, pero se permiten líquidos (incluyendo leche y jugos). Esta disciplina es para ser observado por aquellos entre las edades de 18 y 59 años.
� La Cuaresma, La disciplina de la abs nencia nos llama a abstenernos de comer carne, y debe ser observado por todos los que son mayors de 14 años de edad.
� Cuando la salud o en el trabajo fueran grave-mente afectados, la ley eclesiás ca no nos obliga a ayunar o abstenerse. En caso de duda acerca de las regulaciones de ayuno y abs nencia, el párroco debe ser consultado.
� Una celebración sacramental Comunitaria, rec-onciliación con confesión y absolución individual debe ser celebrada durante la Cuaresma.

The days of Lent are often com-pared to a journey. At the end we expect to find ourselves in a differ-ent place. Every Lent we come back to the call of our Baptismal commit-ment and struggle with the hard questions we were asked: Do you reject Satan? Do you believe in God? Do you believe in the Church? The Church provides us with many opportunities and experiences to help us in this struggle to be renewed in our Baptismal promises. The encour-agement to give alms, pray daily, do works of jus-tice, and to fast are a few. � This year Lent begins February 17. During the Lenten Season, two days of fasting and absti-nence are observed: Ash Wednesday, Febru-ary and Friday of the Passion of the Lord, (Good Friday) April 2nd. Abstinence is also ob-served on all Fridays during Lent.
� The regulation regarding the Lenten Discipline of fasting calls us to eat only one (1) full meal during the day. Two additional meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs; but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids (including milk and juic-es) are allowed. This discipline is to be observed by those between the ages of 18 and 59.
� The Lenten Discipline of abstinence calls us to refrain from eating meat, and is to be observed by all who are 14 years of age and older.
� When health or ability to work would be se-riously affected, ecclesiastical law does not oblige us to fast or abstain. When in doubt con-cerning the regulations of fast and abstinence, your parish priest should be consulted.
� A Communal Sacramental Reconciliation Celebration with Individual Confession and Absolution should be celebrated during Lent.
� The two Eucharistic Prayers for Reconcilia-tion are appropriate for use during the season of Lent. Although these Eucharistic Prayers have been provided with a proper Preface, they may also be used with other Prefaces that refer to penance and conversion, as, for example, the Prefaces of Lent.

Lent is the time of year we devote to scrutinizing our lives in the light of our baptism into the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Today’s readings are a nice shorthand catechism of what our baptized lives mean. As Noah passed through the waters of the flood to a covenant with God, so did we enter into a covenant, a
promised relationship with God through our baptism. Peter’s letter gives an explicit explanation of what our baptism means: it is an appeal we make to God for a clear conscience.
How do we obtain this clear conscience? The words proclaimed by Jesus immediately following his temptation show us the
way: “Repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:15). It might be a good spiritual exercise to keep these readings before us
throughout the entire season of Lent, a means to help us return to a life lived by our baptismal promises.

La Cuaresma es la época del año que dedicamos a examinar nues-tras vidas a la luz de nuestro Bautismo en la muerte y Resurrec-
ción de Jesús. Las lecturas de hoy son un catecismo abreviado de lo que significa estar bautizados. Como Noé pasó por las aguas
del diluvio a una alianza con Dios, así también nosotros entramos en una alianza, una relación con Dios, mediante nuestro Bautis-
mo. La carta de Pedro da una explicación explícita de lo que nuestro
Bautismo significa: un llamamiento que hacemos a Dios para que nos dé una conciencia tranquila. ¿Cómo podemos obtener esta
conciencia tranquila? Las palabras proclamadas por Jesús inmedi-atamente después de su tentación nos muestran cómo:
“Arrepiéntanse y crean en el Evangelio” (Marcos 1:15). Podría ser un buen ejercicio espiritual mantener estas lecturas ante no-sotros durante todo el tiempo de Cuaresma, un medio que nos

Today is the First Sunday of Lent. During this season of
preparation for Easter, our churches look stark and simple—no flowers at the altar, no festive banners or decorations.
And our liturgies feel different, too. The organ is quiet ex-cept to accompany the singing of the assembly. The Gloria, our Sunday song of rejoicing, is not heard except on solem-nities, and we will not sing the Alleluia, our joyful acclama-
tion of praise, until the Easter Vigil. “Alleluia cannot al-ways / Be our song while here below,” says an eleventh-
century hymn. “Alleluia our transgressions / Make us for a while forego; / For the solemn time is coming / When our
tears for sins must flow” (Alleluia dulce carmen, J. M. Neale, trans.).
These changes in the liturgy will catch our attention, and make us eager for the festive outpouring of joy that will re-turn with Easter. This year, may the stripped-away liturgies of Lent remind us to strip away what is not essential in our
lives to make space for the crucified and risen One, and thus to be ready to sing “Alleluia” once again when Easter re-

Nos sentamos en la liturgia no porque no haya nada que hacer o para ‘salir de la celebración’, sino para escuchar a Dios mismo
que nos dirige su palabra, o bien, que se nos revela en el silencio posterior a la sagrada comunión. Al sentarnos nos disponemos para entrar en un diálogo con el Señor, mediante su palabra que
nos es proclamada; disponemos todo nuestro ser para escuchar la historia de amor entre Dios y el pueblo, siendo conscientes o no, de que ese pueblo somos nosotros mismos, de que esa historia es
nuestra historia. Escuchamos una historia que no siempre será nueva en el relato mismo, pero sí en el efecto que este relato tiene
en nuestra vida actual. La homilía, como momento de diálogo entre las lecturas y la vida diaria, nos brinda esa excelente opor-tunidad de entender qué es lo que Dios quiere de nosotros a raíz de lo que hemos escuchado. Así pues, estar sentados en la asam-blea no es una actitud pasiva, sino receptiva, de quien se dispone totalmente a acoger la palabra de Dios que le es comunicada. Esta
