The Sherborne Pageant Project

IN EARLY 2015 the project was begun by Rachel Hassall, Sherborne School Archivist

To find out about the scripts, the albums, the performance and more visit the School Archives online:

http://www.oldshirburnian.org.uk/sherborne-pageant-1905/

For photographs, including the signatures of those taking part - view the Sherborne Pageant Albums on Flickr:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/sherborneschoolarchives/sets/

You will find, under 'featured pageants - Sherborne', more background information together with wider research into Historical Pageants in Britain, 1905-2016 at http://www.historicalpageants.ac.uk

NOW - Rachel has stepped back but her work is being continued by volunteers from the Somerset and Dorset

Family History Centre in Sherborne who are attempting to tie up those known to have participated with the

photographs, as they are mostly anonymous. It is also hoped to gain additional biographical information as

descendents of those who took part come forward to help.

LIST OF KNOWN PARTICIPANTS - On the following pages you will find the names of those known so far to have

taken part, together with any biographical information we have been able to discover. We give the episode each

person appeared in together with the character, if any, they played.

S next to some of the names indicates that at the end of a performance those who took part signed their

names. You can find the signatures from the Sherborne Pageant Albums on Flickr noted above.

P in the last column indicates that we have amassed sufficient information to write a profile for the person

concerned.

P* indicates a collective profile for Red Indians, Hobby Horses, Maypole dancers etc .

To read and, if you wish, download a profile, click here (link)

Your help is needed in the preparation of more profiles and we would very much like to hear from

you if you can add to our information.
