Thank You/Term 4 As this is the last Newsletter for this term, I would like to thank our school community for their support throughout this term. Our parents/carers, teachers, and administration staff have worked tirelessly to provide a wide range of opportunities for our students to excel. As a school we are very fortunate to receive such wonderful commitment and support. Wishing you all the best for a restful break. Please do not hesitate to contact the Police (000) or School Security (1300 880 021) should you see anyone on school grounds acting in a suspicious way. Term 4 commences on Monday 15 October for both staff and students. 2018 NAPLAN Results Leonay has once again performed well with our school average for almost all aspects sitting at or above the national average. Congratulations to our students on their achievements with our first attempt at NAPLAN online and thank you to the staff. Individual student NAPLAN reports were distributed on Friday 14 September to parents/carers of Year 3 and Year 5 students. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about the report. Regional Athletics Update Three students from Leonay PS were part of the Penrith District team at regional athletics last Wednesday. Congratulations to Lindsy S who was successful in reaching State Athletics in high jump. University Competitions Congratulations to all the students who participated in the International Competitions and Assessment for Schools. The following students have received excellent results in English. Year 3- Adam H (Credit), Harvey T (Credit), Luke G (Credit), Amelia S (Merit), William M (Participation), Kian W (Participation), Tim H (Participation), Parker B (Participation) Year 4- Harrison W (Credit), Matthew M (Credit), Koby S (Participation), Evangelina N (Participation), Ainsley C (Participation) Year 5- Atilla H (Credit), Kosta T (Participation), Nimi N (Participation), Imogen C (Participation), Zachery C (Participation), Maiara C (Participation) Year 6- Seth H (Credit), Lindsy S (Merit), Lucas W (Participation), George T (Participation), Kye R (Participation), Bailey M (Participation). All participants received their certificates at Week 9 assembly. 2019 Kindergarten Orientation Program At present we have 33 enrolments for kindergarten next year. Our Kindergarten orientation program will commence on Friday 9 November with a one hour parent/carer information and student visitation session from 9.30am -10.30am. Three more student visits will be held on 16, 23 and 30 November. We look forward to meeting our new students and their families. National Disability Insurance Scheme
The NDIS supports people with a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to take part in everyday activities. It also focuses on early intervention where getting early support can reduce the impact of disability on you or your child. Trivia Night Thank you to the P and C for organising a fantastic trivia night. Special mention to Stephanie C, Rachel T and Debbie G for their tremendous efforts in making the night a huge success. Playground During the school holidays the school oval will be sprayed for bindii. Cyber Safety Included in this newsletter is some information provided by CyberOwls following on from our Cyber Safety sessions on 12 September. Next Assembly Next assembly – Friday 2 November. KD students will be presenting their item. Parent/Carers are welcome to attend. P & C Meeting Next meeting - Tuesday 16 October, commencing at 7pm.

Mini Fete Day for 2018
Our Mini Fete day was a great success. Congratulations to the students in Stage 3 for running a fantastic, fun-filled day for our school community. It was wonderful to see all the smiles on the students’ faces as they participated in the range of activities. These included scooping up ping-pong balls with a spoon, changing their hair colour, traversing a maze, using their strength in a game of ‘tug a war’, guessing how many skittles were in a shoe (with a conveniently placed plastic bag inside it for sanitary purposes according to Ally) and many more. Our day revealed the many hidden talents of our students. A big thank you also to all the parents for supporting our Year 6 fundraiser. Mrs Longhurst
