  • Saturday night saw our enthusiastic team compete in the Business House Relays. Thank you to the Grenfell Amateur Swimming Club for a great evening on Saturday, and congratulations to our Henry Lawson High School team on their inaugural win. The school and town are extremely lucky to have such amazing pool facilities. My only complaint is that the pool is far too long. It seemed to take a long time to get to the other end! (Photo)

Congratulations to Lehane House for winning our 2019 Swimming Carnival. Well done to all participants and a special mention to our age champions and record breakers. See the following report. Thank you to staff and community members who ensured our day was a very successful. Our school will be supporting the National Anti-Bullying Day on Friday 15 March. This national day is a positive day of action, bringing school communities together to help find workable solutions that address bullying and violence. Stay tuned in for further details.

    Have a great week!Aaron FlaggPrincipal

Principal’s reportA big thank you to Mawhood’s IGA for their donation of $400 to The Henry Lawson High School as part of the IGA Community Chest fund raising efforts. It was a very welcome surprise. Our captains Connor Day and Bridget Baker very proudly accepted the cheque and will be tasked with considering how to best utilise the funding to benefit our school.

This week we very proudly donated 12 lawn mowers in various conditions to the Grenfell Men’s Shed. They will no doubt extend the life of these machines, and raise valuable funds for this community organisation. (Photo)

Year 12 held their first fundraising day for their chosen charity, Crohn’s and Colitis Ausralia, with a yellow and blue mufti day and cake stall. Did you know that over 80,000 Australians live with Crohn’s and Colitis? This number is expected to rise to over 100,000 by 2022. Year 12 will continue to fundraise throughout the year and make a donation to their charity once their fundraising is complete.

There is a saying that “records are made to be broken” which rang true at the pool last Friday. Tom Robinson was dominant in the Opens male age group and broke all eight records, recording some very fast times.

George Mitton swam a very good 50m breaststroke race to claim a new 16 years male record beating the old record set by Tom only last year.

    Congratulations Tom and George!
