It is reported that less than 5.8% of the world’s population can solve a Rubik’s cube. Year 7 student Chase McFarlane is in that group. He can not only solve a normal Rubik’s cube but took on the challenge to solve our Mona Lisa Rubik’s cube - and succeeded! The Mona Lisa Rubik’s cube has been in our office for 18 months and no one has been able to solve it. Not only do you have to match the colours, but you also have to complete the picture of the famous painting meaning that there are plenty of ways to mess it up, but only one way to put it back together. Well done Chase! Can we make it ten years in a row? Our Year 9/10 Science and Engineering team are gearing up to compete in the South West Slopes regional event of the University of Newcastle’s Science and Engineering competition. Our team have been building their teamwork and communication skills ahead of the challenge and the nerves are starting to set in. Our school has a proud history of supporting the regional event, with 2019 being our tenth year. Please wish our students good luck for Tuesday!

Lawn bowlsOur young and enthusiastic lawn bowls team travelled to Forbes on Friday to compete in the first round of the Western Region lawn Bowls competition. Despite some excellent ends, we did not come away with the win. Congratulations Charli, Teleitha and Rhys on their conduct and sportsmanship - it didn’t go unnoticed. We would like to share part of an email received by Mr Flagg. I would like to congratulate you on your student’s sportsmanship and behaviour on the day. I have always been impressed by the conduct of students from your school. What a great school to be the Principal of! - Justin Hoy PDHPE Head Teacher Forbes High School.
