At the Library with Glenda MulderMay 15, 2019

Lots of fun-looking new books have come in recently. I may have to take a couple days of vacation to read! In nonfiction we received Nanaville; Adventures in Grandparenting by Anna Quinland and About My Mother: True stories of a horse-crazy daughter and her baseball-obsessed mother by Peggy Rowe (sister of Mike Rowe, famous for “Dirty Jobs” show) In fiction, we received: Never Game by Jeffery Deaver, Night Window by Dean Koontz, Cari Mora by Thomas Harris, Hope on the Inside by Marie Bostwick, Resistance Women by Jennifer Chiaverini, Red, White, and Royal Blue by Case McQuiston, Bend in the Stars by Rachel Barenbaum, Rules for Visiting by Jessica Kane, Someone Knows by Lisa Scottoline, Blessing in Disguise by Danielle Steel, and The Night Before by Wendy Walker. I have to confess to being a little sad when I read to our 5th grade Brown Bag kids. It was their last one! Next year they will be in middle school. What fun to look at those faces we have seen since they started school and think of all the books we have read to them over the years. We hope this instilled a love of reading and of the library, and that they will visit us often! Our May Book Club choice is Educated by Tara Westover. This nonfiction book, which reads like a novel, has been on the best seller lists since its release 62 weeks ago! When

Our Town Our Paper!

I was reading it, I kept having to remind myself that it was true! Tara was born and raised in Idaho by a survivalist family who did not send their children to school. The first time she set foot in a classroom, she was 17 years old and ready to take her SAT tests because she wanted to attend college. If you’ve read this book before, or read it this month, join us Monday, May 20 (a week early because of Memorial Day!) at 7 p.m. This is sure to be a lively discussion!
