Introducción. A. Las parábolas son ilustraciones (como ventanas que dejan entrar la luz). Son historias terrenales con lecciones celestiales.

Introduction. A. Parables are illustrations (like windows that let the light in). They are earthly stories with heavenly lessons.


B. Ilustran y conservan la verdad. Es fácil recor-dar parábolas: Hijo pródigo, buen samaritano. Cada parábola es una “obra maestra”.

B. Illustrate and conserve the truth. It is easy to remember parables: Prodigal son, good samari-tan. Each parable is a “masterpiece.”


C. No son fábulas (como árboles que andan, animales que hablan). Se basan en las actividades normales de la vida.

C. They are not fables (like trees walking or animals talking). They are based on normal activities of life.


D. Tampoco son alegorías en las que cada detalle representa algo o alguien, como la alegoría de Sara y Agar = dos pactos, Gál. 4:24.

D. Nor are they allegories in which each detail represents something or someone, like the allegory of Sarah and Hagar = two covenants, Gal. 4:24.


I. El sembrador, Mat. 13:1-9, 18-23. Cuatro clases de oyentes: corazón duro, corazón superficial, corazón dividido y corazón bueno.

I. The sower, Matt. 13:1-9, 18-23. Four kinds of hearers: hard heart, shallow heart, divided heart and good heart.


A. Multitudes le seguían, pero ¿con qué propósi-to? Por los milagros, curiosidad, panes y peces, fines políticos… pero otros eran sinceros.

A. Multitudes followed Him, but for what pur-pose? Because of miracles, curiosity, loaves and fish, political purposes… but others were sincere.


B. Jesús les presenta un retrato de ellos mismos. Pone delante de ellos el espejo para que vieran qué clase de oyentes eran.

B. Jesus presents to them a picture of themselves. He puts a mirror before them so that they could see what kind of hearers they were.


C. Camino – corazón duro, desatento, distraído; poca tierra sobre peña – superficial, pronto acep-tan, pronto caen; espinos – corazón dividido.

C. Wayside –hard heart, inattentive, distracted; small amount of dirt over rock – superficial, promptly accept, promptly fall; thorns – divided heart.


D. Buena tierra – como los 3000, samaritanos, eunuco, Cornelio, Lidia, carcelero… Corazón bueno y recto, obedecen, llevan fruto.

D. Good soil – like the 3000, samaritans, eunuch, Cornelius, Lydia, jailor… Good and honest heart, obey and bear fruit.


II. La cizaña, Mat. 13:24-30, 36-43. Sembradores: Cristo y Satanás. Campo = el mundo. Buena semilla = cristianos; cizaña = hijos del diablo.

II. The tares, Matt. 13:24-30, 36-43. Sowers: Christ and Satan. Field=world. Good seed = Christians; tares = sons of devil.


A. “Reino” aquí no es la iglesia. Igual al “mundo” del cual los malos son recogidos al fin del mundo. Se usa mal para negar textos sobre la disciplina.

A. “Kingdom” here not church. Same as “world” from which the wicked will be gathered at the end of the world. Misused to deny texts on discipline.


B. Lección: Separación de los buenos y los malos solamente cuando llegue el fin del mundo. Enseña lo mismo que parábola de la red, v. 47-50.

B. Lesson: Separation of good and bad only at the end of the world. Teaches the same thing as the parable of the dragnet, v. 47-50.


III. Grano de mostaza, levadura. Matt. 13:31-33. El crecimiento del reino. Principio humilde pero había de crecer y tener impacto mundial.

III. Mustard seed, leaven. Matt. 13:31-33. Growth of the kingdom. Humble beginning but was to grow and have worldwide impact.


A. Judíos esperaban cambios revolucionarios. ¿Cómo se establecen y se extienden reinos? ¡Conquista! Pero Jesús usó y usa enseñanza.

A. Jews expected revolutionary changes. How are kingdoms established and extended? Conquest! But Jesus used and uses teaching.


B. Principio “insignificante” (según los hombres). Carpintero… de Nazaret … sus embajadores, galileos sin letras… evangelio llamado “locura”.

B. “Insignificant” beginning (according to men). Carpenter… from Nazareth… His ambassadors, uneducated Galileans… gospel called “foolishness.”


C. Pero ha tenido un tremendo impacto sobre el mundo, sobre todo aspecto de la civilización. Hech. 17:6, “Estos que trastornan el mundo”.

C. But it has had a tremendous impact on the world, over every aspect of civilization. Acts 17:6, “These who turn the world upside down.”


D. No se puede apresurar el crecimiento del reino. Muchos usan tácticas carnales: comida, ropa, atención médica, actividades sociales, teatro, servicios sensacionales (carismáticos).

D. Cannot rush the growth of the kingdom. Many use carnal tactics: food, clothing, medical atten-tion, social activities, theatre, sensational services (charismatics).


IV. Tesoro y perla. Mat. 13:44-46. El valor del reino y el gozo de encontrarlo. Muchos sólo encuentran montón de mandamientos, problemas

IV. Treasure and pearl. Matt. 13:44-46. The value of the kingdom and the joy of finding it. Many only find a mountain of commandments, problems.


A. El evangelio es un genuino tesoro. Vale más que todo logro humano y toda posesión terrenal. Filipenses 3:7, 8.

A. The gospel is a genuine treasure. It’s worth more than all human attainment and every earthly possession. Phil. 3:7, 8.


B. “gozoso…vende todo lo que tiene”. Vale la pena cualquier costo, cualquier sacrificio para obtener este tesoro, esta perla de gran precio.

B. “for joy…he sells all that he has.” Worthwhile no matter what the cost or what one has to sacrifice to obtain this treasure, this pearl of great price.


V. El buen samaritano, Luc. 10:25-37. Contesta las preguntas: “¿haciendo qué cosa heredaré la vida eterna?” y “¿quién es mi prójimo?”

V. The good Samaritan, Lk. 10:25-37. Answers the questions: “What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” and “who is my neighbor?”


A. Contesta con parábola para MOSTRARLE quién era su prójimo. V. 36, dejó que él contes-tara “¿quién fue el prójimo” del herido?

A. Answers with a parable to DEMONSTRATE who his neighbor was. V. 36, he let him answer the question, “who was neighbor” to the wounded man?


B. V. 37, “Ve, y haz tú lo mismo”; es decir, mos-trar misericordia a cualquiera que la necesite. No imitar al sacerdote, levita, sino al samaritano.

B. V. 37, “Go and do likewise”; that is, show mercy to everyone that needs it. Do not imitate the priest, levite, but rather the samaritan.


VI. Amigo a medianoche, viuda persistente, Luc. 11:5-13; 18:1-8. Pedid y se os dará, pero pedir con sinceridad, persistencia.

VI. Friend at midnight, persistent widow, Lk. 11:5-13; 18:1-8. Ask and it will be given to you, but ask with sincerity, persistence.


A. Somos totalmente dependientes de Dios. Sant. 1:17. No seamos como el fariseo que no pidió nada (Luc. 18:9-14). “Pedid y se os dará”.

A. We are totally dependent on God. James 1:17. Let’s not be like the Pharisee who did not ask for anything (Lk. 18:9-14). “Ask and you will receive.”


B. Nuestra oración a Dios debe ser como el señor que pidió pan a medianoche o la viuda que pedía que el juez le hiciera justicia. Con SINCERIDAD

B. Our prayer to God should be like that of the man who asked for bread at midnight, or the widow who asked for justice from the judge. With SINCERITY.


C. Dios no se molesta cuando persistimos en oración. Ejemplo de Jesús, Mat. 26:36-44; de Pablo, 2 Cor. 12:8, 9. También Jacob, Gén. 32:26

C. God is not upset with us when we persist in prayer. Example of Jesus, Matt. 26:36-44; of Paul, 2 Cor. 12:8, 9. Also Jacob, Gen. 32:26.


VII. Rico necio, Luc. 12:13-21. Lección sobre la avaricia: sed de tener más (ropa, zapatos, botas, joyería, muebles, autos o motos, vacaciones).

VII. Rich fool, Lk. 12:13-21. Lesson about covetousness: thirst for more (clothing, shoes, boots, jewelry, furniture, autos or motorcycles, vacations).


A. No leyó la Biblia, sólo “pensaba dentro de sí”. ¿Con quién consultamos sobre compras? Si uno piensa “dentro de sí”, compra para sí mismo.

A. Didn’t read Bible, but only “thought within himself.” With whom do we consult about purchases? If one thinks “within himself” he will buy for himself.


B. “No tengo donde guardar mis bienes”. Sí, tiene: la ofrenda, ayudar a hermanos necesitados, ayudar a fieles evangelistas.

B. “I do not have a place to store my goods.” Yes, you do: contribution, help needy brethren, help faithful evangelists.


C. “Diré: Alma, muchos bienes tienes guardados para muchos años… repósate…” Creía que era dueño de su propia alma y también del futuro.

C. “I will say: Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years…take your ease.” He thought that he was owner of his own soul and also of the future.


VIII. La gran cena, Luc. 14:16-20. “Venid, que ya todo está preparado” por Moisés, profetas, Juan, Jesús, apóstoles. Gal. 4:4.

VIII. The great supper, Lk. 14:16-20. “Come for all things are ready.” Prepared by Moses, prophets, John, Jesus, apostles. Gal. 4:4.


A. “Y todos a una comenzaron a excusarse” con excusas muy necias… Pero las excusas de nosotros son igualmente necias.

A. “But they all with one accord began to make excuses…” with foolish excuses.. But the excuses we make are equally foolish.


B. Lo que significa es que Cristo no es primero, que no tenemos que buscar primeramente su reino y su justicia.

B. What it means is that Christ is not first, that we do not have to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.


IX. Las diez vírgenes, Mat. 25:1-13, la falta de preparación adecuada. Estar “preparados” a medias equivale a no estar nada preparados.

IX. The ten virgins, Matt. 25:1-13, the lack of adequate preparation. To be half-way “prepared” equals not being prepared at all.
