PASTOR’S CORNER

Gospel Reading:

Matthew 13:24-43

Jesus offers parables about the Kingdom of Heaven and ex-

plains them to his disciples.

Family Connection to Today’s Gospel

Taken together, the parables found in today’s Gospel offer

both a sobering reminder about the Kingdom of God and

words of encouragement. As the wheat and the weeds must

grow together until the harvest, so we may not know whether

our actions contribute to God’s Kingdom until God’s final

judgment. With this word of caution in mind, we act always

in prayer that our actions will be consistent with God’s plans.

In the parables of the mustard seed and the yeast, we hear

words of encouragement. God can bring the Kingdom of

Heaven from even the smallest of beginnings. Thus, we ask

God to work through us for the sake of the Kingdom of Heav-

en.

Set aside some time this week to make bread with your fami-

ly. Show the amount of yeast that is required to raise an entire

batch of bread. Observe that little things can go a long way.

After the bread has been baked, gather together as a family.

Read together today’s Gospel, Matthew 13:24-43. Reflect

together on what Jesus means when he teaches that the King-

dom of Heaven is like a mustard seed and like yeast. In these

parables, Jesus is teaching us that God can work wonders

from even the smallest beginnings of the Kingdom of God.

This means that even the little things that we do can make a

big difference in the lives of others. What are some of the lit-

tle things that we can do in our family that help to make

things better for others? Decide on one action to

take together. Pray that God will use your action to

make a difference in the world.

Conclude in praying together the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy

name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on

earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily

bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive

those who trespass against us, and lead us not into

temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Evangelio:

Mateo 13, 24-43

Jesús ofrece parábolas sobre el Reino Celestial y se los expli-

ca a sus discípulos.

Conexión Familiar del Evangelio de Hoy

Tomados en conjunto, las parábolas encontradas en el Evan-gelio de hoy ofrecen tanto un recordatorio aleccionador so-bre el Reino de Dios y palabras de aliento. Como el trigo y la cizaña deben crecer juntos hasta la cosecha, así que no sabe-mos si nuestras acciones contribuyen al Reino de Dios hasta el juicio final de Dios. Con esta palabra de advertencia en mente, actuamos siempre en la oración que nuestras acciones serán consistentes con los planes de Dios. En las parábolas de la semilla de mostaza y la levadura, escuchamos palabras de aliento. Dios puede traer el Reino de los cielos de incluso al más pequeño de principios. Decidan en una acción para hacer como familia. Oren

que Dios use su acción para hacer una diferencia en el mundo.

Concluyan en oración del Padre Nuestro:

Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo, santificado sea tu Nombre; venga a nosotros tu reino; hágase tu volun-tad en la tierra como en el cielo. Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día; perdona nuestras ofensas como tam-bién nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden; no nos dejes caer en la tentación, y líbranos del mal.

Change of Missalettes:

We have made the change to the missalettes used in the Main

Church during Sunday Liturgies. We now have Glory and

Praise books for English masses. Flor y Canto and Misal del

dia books for Spanish masses. This change will help the par-

ish to save money in the long run. Please DO NOT take the

books out of the church. To replace the books will cost the

parish more money.

The readings for the English Sunday Liturgies can be found

in the last half of the Glory and Parise (the blue books) Mis-

salettes. We are in Year A Cycle—Ordinary Time.

Cambio de Misales:

Hemos hecho el cambio con los misales en la Iglesia Princi-

pal durante las Liturgias en domingo. El cambio para las mi-

sas de Ingles usaremos el libro Glory and Praise. Para misas

en español usaremos el libro Canto y Flor y el libro Misal del

día. Este cambio ayudara en ahorrar dinero para la parroquia.

Favor de NO llevarse los libros fuera de la parroquia. Para

remplazar los libros costara mas dinero a la parroquia.

Las lecturas en ingles para las liturgias de domingo pueden

Our Jamaica is up and running for 2017. We are in need of

volunteers in the Raffle Area to help

in the selling of tickets on the week-

Faith Formation Registration Sunday, August 6th

In the School Building Beginning after the 7:30 AM Mass and

ending at 3:30 PM.

The registration fee is $70.00 for one child and $100.00 for 2 or more children of one family. Registration is to be done by the

parents only. If you are registered in another parish and

you would like to attend classes here at San Jose you will need a letter of permis-

sion from your parish. Any prior balances & current payment is

required at time of registration. • • •

Don’t Wait, Start Now!! If you will be registering your children for a 2nd Year Sacramental Class this upcom-

ing year NOW is the time to get those baptismals ready. If your child was bap-tized here at San Jose you may request a copy from our main church office for just $5.00. If your child was baptized at an-other parish or in another country you

need to contact the parish in which they were baptized for a copy. If this is your

child’s 2nd year and they are not baptized we will need a copy of their birth certifi-cate. We will not be registering anyone

for a 2nd Year Sacramental Class without a copy of his or her baptismal certificate.

Clerical Endowment Fund (C. E. F.) Prayer Cards: Cards are available

in the Parish Office for a donation of $2.00 or $5.00. Perpetual Certificates

are also available. These enrollments make excellent gifts for many occasions.

Proceeds from these donations are used to educate Seminarians for

the Diocese. The Fund is also used to make low interest loans to parishes

for their building programs. This has been a project of the Austin Diocesan

Council of Catholic Women since 1948.

Both Bride and Groom must be present and attend the ENTI-RE presentation. The NEXT English orientati-on is set for Thursday, July 27 at 7pm in School Room 1A. We will discuss the entire marriage processes, including the required documents needed. Please come with all your questions.

Infertility & Miscarriage Support: Sarah's Hope & Abraham's Promise is a spiritual support program for couples struggling with infertility and miscar-riage. Based on Catholic teaching, we combine the wisdom of modern medi-cine with the healing power of the Catholic Church. We offer a women's Bible study support group, couples healing retreats and prayer services throughout the year.

Adoption Support: Destined: Families Built by Love is a spiritual support program and monthly playgroup for adoptive families. Anyone who has built their family through the miracle of adoption is invited to meet with other families to share the joys and challenges of adoption and fostering. The play-group meets once a month in different areas of Austin.

Spirituality Couples Group Meeting - St. Paul Catholic Church St. Paul will host a couples group meeting at Casa San Pablo, 10,000 David Moore Dr., just to the right of the church, on Thursday, July

27, from 6:30-8:30pm. The group meets the 4th Thursday of the month and discusses ways to reconnect our faith to our daily lives. As couples and families, we often face the difficulties of the world with-
