They set out to bring their dreams to reality by taking action. You have the potential to accomplish anything. Avoid putting limitations on yourselves. Most importantly, don't wait for the perfect time to start dreaming big and making your dreams come true! Define your dream Have self-belief Take action Never give up Our dream for 2019 is that CityKidz must be- come a school that con- tinues to ensure quality of teaching at all times. Our main goal is to continue to work towards ensur- ing that CityKidz is the best inner city school in Jo- hannesburg. We are Umalusi accredited and we will continue to focus toward raising standards still fur- ther in our continuing pursuit of excellence. I have no doubt that an exciting school year awaits us. I am happy to report that we begin this academic year with many new children all of whom seem very eager to join our school family. We are delighted to welcome those children and their families to our school and look forward to working with everyone in the coming year. As the year unfolds, we are here to ensure they all feel a sense of belonging. We hope all our childrens time at school during 2019 will be filled with academic achievement, crea- tivity, many exciting challenges, and good friend- ships. In anticipation of a very exciting school year, our teachers have been busy planning and organizing for a jam packed Term 1. Feel free to approach your child’s homeroom teacher with questions, ideas or con-cerns throughout the school year. Homeroom teachers are always willing to support, guide and assist our children with organisation, time management, homework expectations and daily classroom re-sponsibilities. Our children can seek guidance from their homeroom teacher about all aspects of school life.

The Finance Department wishes to thank parents who have paid school fees.

The Finance Department wishes to reiterate that school fees need to be paid in advance.

Please make every effort to pay school fees.

Sadly, if accounts are not settled we will have no choice but to deregister your child/children until such time as the account has been settled. Any queries should be addressed to Irene.

Please ensure that your child’s name is clearly marked in permanent ink in every article of clothing and on their text books, pencil cases, exercise books, lunch boxes,

You’d be amazed at the number of clothing and other items that remain unclaimed!

A letter was sent out this week regarding school times. Coming to school and arriving at school on time are the first steps in succeeding. Being in class on time is a courtesy. It is a way of showing respect to teachers and classmates. It also shows organisation and commitment to learning.

Please ensure your son or daughter gets to school on time.

All learners are expected to be at school by 7.35 am ready to attend period one class at 7 40am. Be sure to call the school before 7:30am or notify us by email if your child is go-ing to be late or absent.

Recent studies show that when families are involved in their chil-dren's education in positive ways, the children achieve higher grades , have better attendance at school, complete more homework, and demonstrate more positive attitudes and behaviour. One way to foster children's learning is through joint efforts involving both families and schools, where parents and teachers share re-sponsibility for creating a working relationship that will help children succeed academically.

Messages for teachers and staff can be left with our office secre-taries, who will speedily convey your messages. Please remember, however, that our teachers are busy with classes, planning, mark-ing, etc. - and it is sometimes im-possible for them to return calls immediately.

If your call is of an urgent nature, please let the person who answers the phone know, and your message may be referred to someone else who can deal with your question or concern more promptly.

It’s important that you continue to communicate with your child’s teacher throughout the school year. Ongoing communication be-tween teachers and parents is ab-solutely necessary to insure a child’s success in school. The day-today reality of many families is different today than a generation ago. Family members spend far less time together and adults of-ten face an on-going struggle to balance the demands of their fam-ilies and their jobs. While these pressures can cause parents to participate less in their children's lives, there remains a great need for them to be involved in their children's education.

Please be sure to let us know via the main office if you have a change of address, phone/cell/business number or email. We want to be sure that we have the correct contact information so that you don’t miss any important news and that if any urgent matters arise you are easily contactable. If you or your emergency contacts cannot be reached we spend unneces-sary time trying to contact you.

This is extremely important.
