ELI R. OSTERLOH, Interim Associate Director of Bands at the University of Maryland, is a native of Ellicott City, MD. His involvement with the University of Maryland Bands spans nearly a quarter-century. This relationship began with his undergraduate career, then Graduate Assistantship, a tenure as Assistant Director, and now Interim Director. In addition to assisting in the overall administration of the Maryland Band Program, Osterloh oversees the Direction of The Mighty Sound of Maryland Marching Band and Basketball Pep Band. He holds the Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education and the Master of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Maryland. From 1999-2003, he was Director of Bands and Orchestras at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Beltsville, MD. Under his direction, the MLK instrumental music program grew to include 250 students involved in three wind bands, an orchestra, a jazz ensemble, and numerous chamber groups. These ensembles achieved superior ratings at both local and national music festivals, and received wide acclaim from the public. Additionally, Osterloh is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, The National Association for Music Education, the Maryland Music Educators Association, the College Band Directors National Association, the Conductors Guild, and is an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma. He has been the principal clarinetist with the Prince George’s Philharmonic and the Capital Wind Symphony. Osterloh has also done Doctoral work in Wind Instrument Conducting at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, MD where he served as the Assistant Conductor of the world-renowned Peabody Wind Ensemble. Osterloh is an active adjudicator, clinician, and conductor in the Baltimore-Washington area, and resides in Odenton, MD with his wife Stefanie and two sons, Connor and Chase.
CRAIG G. POTTER, Interim Assistant Director of Bands, joined the University of Maryland faculty in the Fall of 2015. At the University of Maryland, Craig assists with the operations of the Mighty Sound of Maryland marching band and pep bands. He is also the music director for the University Band and has served as an assistant conductor for the University of Maryland Wind Ensemble. Prior to coming to the University of Maryland, Craig served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Louisville. His primary duties included assisting with the Cardinal Marching Band and concert ensembles, as well as teaching conducting and marching band techniques courses. As an educator, he taught middle and high school band in the Catholic Diocese of Lexington (Kentucky). During his time at Lexington Catholic High School, the band earned distinguished ratings at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Concert Band Festival. Craig also taught general music at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary School, also in Lexington.

Craig remains an active performer on the tuba, with special attention to music with alternative accompaniments and electronics. He has soloed twice with the University of Maryland Wind Orchestra, most recently on David Lang’s Are You Experienced? for solo electric tuba. Craig has appeared as a soloist and clinician across the United States. He has performed in music conventions and festivals around the world including the United States Army Tuba-Euphonium Workshop and the Jungfrau Music Festival.
He is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, the International Tuba-Euphonium Association, an alumnus of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Kappa Kappa Psi, an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma, and a Sigma Alpha Iota Friend of the Arts. Craig holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Kentucky, a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from the University of Louisville, and is currently a doctoral candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland in Tuba Performance. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Craig lives in Laurel with his wife Mallory and daughter Felicity.
NATHAN REYNOLDS is a freelance trombonist and music educator from Northwest Arkansas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Central Arkansas and a Master’s degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Maryland. A rising young artist, Nathan has served as Second Trombone of the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, as well as principal trombone for the Conway Symphony Orchestra (Arkansas). As a soloist and chamber musician, he has participated and competed in music festivals and competitions around the United States such as the International Trombone Association Solo Competition, the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute, the Michael Becker Low Brass Institute, and the Eastern Trombone Workshop.
A long-time performer and teacher in the marching arts, Nathan currently serves as Brass Instructor for the Thunder Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as a graduate assistant for the athletic bands at the University of Maryland. As a graduate assistant with the Maryland Athletic Bands, Nathan assists in all aspects of the program including writing drill, rehearsing the band, and directing the Basketball Pep Band and Olympic Sports Pep Bands.
Nathan is currently working on a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Maryland. He lives in Laurel with his wife Alicia and their puppy Turbo.

TS ALLISON SATTERWHITE is a clarinetist and educator from Central Virginia. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Throughout her undergraduate career, she traveled across the United States and Europe, performing most notably at the Collegiate Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Conference, the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Conference, and the Interharmony International Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy. While at JMU, Allison also performed for four years with the Marching Royal Dukes, where she served as a baritone section leader and a featured baritone soloist with the ensemble. Currently, Allison is a member of the band staff at Middlesex High School in Saluda, Virginia where she works as their primary visual instructor and as a woodwind specialist. Allison is pursuing her Master’s degree in Clarinet Performance at UMD, studying under Robert DiLutis.
JOSEPH P. SCOTT is currently in his second year of the Master of Music in Wind Conducting, studying under Dr. Michael Votta. Before coming to the University of Maryland, Joseph was the Director of Instrumental Music at Clayton Valley Charter High School in Concord, California, where he was responsible for conducting the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Marching Band, as well as instructing Advanced Placement Music Theory.
Joseph earned his B.M. in Music Education from the University of Oregon where he studied with Dr. Wayne Bennett and Robert Ponto. While at the University of Oregon, Joseph was a founding member of the university’s chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. After graduating, he returned to San Francisco where he received his teaching credential from San Francisco State University. While at SFSU, Joseph was on staff at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts where he conducted the Concert Band and taught Music Theory and Survey classes. Joseph is a member of the College Band Directors National Association as well as the National Association for Music Education and served for three years as a board member of the California Music Educators Association-Bay Section. Joseph was selected as a tier one conductor for the 2017 Frederick Fennell Memorial Conducting Masterclass at the Eastman School of Music where he worked with Mark Scatterday, Donald Hunsberger, and Craig Kirchhoff. Other conducting teachers include James Ross, Michael Haithcock, Courtney Snyder, and Harvey Benstein.
While in the Bay Area, Joseph kept an active schedule playing the clarinet, performing with the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, Chabot Wind Symphony, Golden Gate Park Band, and the San Francisco Wind Ensemble, which performed at the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles in 2015 and recorded its inaugural CD at Skywalker Ranch in 2014.
