EXCITING TIMES! La Fuente (“The Fountain”) Church of Christ is almost one year old already, & we are excited about all the growing that God is allowing it to do! We speak not only of the Mexican nationals that have come to obey and serve the Lord, but we, the foreign missionaries continue to learn so much as we work hard in God’s field, to plant seeds of His hope. We also see the Lord’s good timing in all things! With one of our team-families, the Reyeses gone on furlough to the States for two months, there has been lots of opportunity (and need!) for service and leadership from our Mexican team-mates/brothers and sisters in Christ! Patrick and Jeff continue to preach on Sundays in a preacher-training rotation. Then, during the week Patrick works with 2 maturing Christian men, Miguel Angel and Chucho, in preparing sermons, as they help serve & lead the church in proclaiming God’s word. He also is working with a more timid, but huge servant, Gerardo to prepare leading the Adult Bible Discussion class. Patrick also is excited to have taught four of the teenage boys to prepare the order of worship via power-point slides. While this takes time to do, the boys are not only good at it (from our American standard) but it gives them another important way to serve and be leaders. Two special ladies have also began teaching our two youngest children’s classes. Brandon’a finalized a schedule of curriculum and organized (with some wonderful helpers!) all the teaching materials according to the specific curriculum schedule. It is inspiring to see how excited (& nervous) the women were starting out, but how they, and the kids, are loving this special time! We have also recently added two more teams to the weekly building-cleaning rotation (exciting!), and more and more ladies are wanting to be regularly signed up to bring something towards the fellowship meal we share after services every Sunday!

Lots of Learning!Discipleship Class

Small Group Study

Women’s Study

Personal Bible Studies

Youth Bible Study

While we spend time preparing for the various ministerial opportunities God provides, we thought prayer warriors back home might like to pray specifically for the times, subjects, teachers, leaders, and hearts of those pursuing God’s kingdom, thus...below is a general overview of some of our schedule... On Sundays, we are at the church building from about 10:30 a.m. to 3:30(ish) p.m.. At 11 am we offer the following Bible classes: * An Adult Group Discussion: The Life and teachings of Jesus (rotation of men leading)* 0-3 yr olds (cradle-roll): Basic Principles of God and His Church,

through the Old Testament (teacher, Veronica)* 4-7 yr olds: Old Testament (teacher, Lily)* 8-12 yr olds = 66 Club (great curriculum written by Monty Pettyjohn for the Waterview Church) Lots of Memorization! (teacher, Kristina)

At 12 noon (not lunch-time in Mexico), we offer a Biblical New Testament Worship service, and:*Children’s Church (during sermon only): New Testament Applications (teacher, Brandon’a)*Everything is a completely Spanish-led time of study and worship!!

This is a sleep-over at our house.Men’s Study

Family-Fellowship!

Studies show that community is important to all cultures. However, it is well-known that the Latino cultures especially love their community-driven social networks. This is a wonderful avenue for the Lord’s church to not only attract people, but to connect people with each other & with the omnipresent Lord of all. As our roots are being planted in the firm foundation of the Word of God, we have the growing desire (& ability) to seek nourishment from other like-minded believers who quench our thirst for fellowship like no other. The body of Christ in Cuernavaca is demonstrating this! From meals in each other’s homes, to birthday parties, to kids’ play-dates, to any and every special celebratory occasion, to simply organizing or cleaning up an event together, a bond is being made and replicated. While these fun-filled times are enjoyable, they are also necessary. They help to cultivate a sense of belonging & love. God wired in our human nature the need for community. (He Himself is triune in nature). So why is this concept harder for some of us? Even though it is not alway easy living and socializing in a culture that is foreign to our instinctual way of life, it is good to grow in a culture not as prohibited by availability, “stuff,” or even pain. It is in His salvation & fellowship with His people that the burdens of our souls are lifted and that joy is made complete! (Phil. 2:2)

Evangelistic Efforts

Precious Promises We had just got home from worship, one rainy Sunday late afternoon, when we received a barrage of phone calls from the brethren at the Acapantzingo congregation, that they needed to use our pool to baptize someone! We put on our rain boots and jackets and greeted them happily at the door. Ray (an American) baptized into Christ a man named Ricardo and we rejoiced to witness this new birth with gladness ... and umbrellas!

A few weeks ago, an older woman and her grandson started coming more regularly to La Fuente’s services. Soon, her adult son began coming regularly too. His name is Rene and after studying with Patrick (& hearing the Word many times before) he submitted his life to Christ in baptism one evening before a men’s Bible study! He has had to do a lot of confronting and changing out of a sinful life, but seems to be willing and

hopeful at every turn. His girlfriend, Lupita has agreed to study with Patrick also and came to one of the women’s studies at our house. They have much to work through, but with God’s grace and perfect will for their lives, they will continue to transform into a new creation. PLEASE keep them in prayer!

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be

like God in true righteousness and holiness.”-Eph 4:22-24

You might remember our friend, Gerardo (a law grad) who was baptized almost a year ago and seemed to be growing diligently for many months. A few months ago, he started being less and less involved with no real reason. Finally, after some time and space, he came back and asked for help. Apparently, he had been having many problems, one of which was suffering from the fear of a juvenile “gang” of boys in his neighborhood who had been bullying him. After hearing his overwhelming trouble & Gerardo’s amazing desire to show the love of Jesus to those whose lives were filled with anger, he and Patrick made a plan. Together, they along with some other brothers from the church put up a tent and a church sign in front of Gerardo’s house. They cooked and gave out free hotdogs and Bibles. This turned out to be a great day with contacts, prayer, a street bible study, Gerardo’s fear greatly lessening, and his courage renewed by the strength of his brothers “showing up” for him. Since then, Gerardo has been on fire & studying and serving in ways he never has before! Also, you might recognize Veronica (energetic!) in many of our pictures. She recently invited a friend of her’s from her gym. Fernando is now eagerly studying with Patrick!

Our Family & Team Updates:

Reyes Family on HomeAssignment (June20-Aug.19)

We are VERY ready for the Reyeses to

return, but are proud of all

they are doing in the U.S.!

Lubbock, TX & then serve as a missionary in some other part of the world. She has been such a tremendous blessing in our life and it will change without her in its daily presence! But, God is good and faithful and we gratefully rejoice in how He has used and will continue to use such a beautiful, talented

& courageous young woman!

OUR FAMILY enjoyed celebrating Sophia’s 4th Birthday the first week of June! It was a blessing that Patrick's parents & brother could come & celebrate with us! Then we had a little lunch-party with Sophia’s class at school. She was so excited & really enjoys life, picking out her own “outfits,” & seriously wants to do her hair by herself (she has a lot of hair)! Sebastian (2.5 yrs) is a happy, social little-big guy who is at that super sweet & funny stage. (There is always toddler-drama, but its all good.) Brandon’a’s health is doing well; she along with Patrick truly enjoy serving in full-time ministry! Such blessings of grace & joy!OUR TEAM is embarking on new territory, as we celebrated the oldest of “our” children, Dominique’ Reyes’ graduation ... which means she is leaving us! As we deal with our own loss we are SO proud and SO excited for her as she begins her own new chapter as a woman of God. She will begin the Adventures In Missions program in

Ex-AIMer to Mexico, Alyssa Daugherty came to stay with us for a couple of weeks in July, to help out! We are so

thankful for her servant heart!

Dominique w/ team-mates, the Sims.

Monica (mom/teacher)did a great job.

Our team & church family helped give Dominique a nice ceremony.

Proud parents!

Proud sisters!

(Returning without Dominique!)

Words of gratitude & encouragement!

Recardo preaches the Word.

¡Vaya con Dios Dominique!
