Jumping Frog Origami

Origami paper

2 wiggle eyes

1) Fold paper diagonally both ways.

2) Unfold and fold in half and unfold

3) Press the corners marked with red dots toward the center and press the remaining folds into a

triangle shape like above. This can be a little tricky but you can do it.

4) Fold the corner marked green to the top point of the triangle. Repeat with the other corner.

5) Fold corner with the red dot to center line. Repeat with opposite corner.

6) Flip triangle over.

7) Fold edge with the purple dot to the center of the triangle. Repeat with opposite edge

8) Fold the edge with the purple dot to the edge with the blue dot. Repeat on opposite edge.

9) Turn frog over. Fold backwards on the blue line in picture. Fold forward on the red line

10) Peel backing off wiggle eyes and apply to frog face. Optional decorate frog with markers or

crayons.

11) Make frog hope by pressing on the fold on his back gently and then allowing your finger to slip

off. It may take a little practice. Once your frog is hopping you can race your frogs with a friend

in events like fastest to finish line, high jump or flips.

Here is an easier version of the jumping frog if you have trouble.

Green cardstock Scissors

Orange cardstock Glue stick

Red string

Butterfly bead

2 wiggle eyes

1. Find the green rectangle

2. Cut about two inches off one end and set aside

3. Apply glue along the short edge of the big rectangle.

4. Roll rectangle into a tube and hold till glue sticks

5. At one end of tube press sides together till they

touch and crease the sides up about the width of your finger.

6. Apply glue along one side inside the tube at the end

you pressed down.

7. Thread yarn through the tube so that just the very end

sticks out of the tube and then press together the sides

of the tube to glue closed. Hold till glue sticks.

8. Get small piece that you cut off earlier and cut 4 small

strips off it to be your frogs legs.

9. Apply glue to one end of the strip and stick to

your tube at one of the corners on the side of your

frog that we glues to make the tube.

Repeat for the other three legs.

10. Turn frog over.

11. Take orange square and cut into 4 triangles by

cutting from corner to corner in a diagonal and

repeating on other diagonal. These will be feet.

12. Make toes by cutting 2 small triangles from

the widest side of the triangles

13. Apply glue to point of triangle and attach one on each leg.

14. Peel backing from wiggle eyes and apply to top of frog.

15. Find butterfly bead and tie to loose end of red string.

16. Holding your frog swing the butterfly bead up and try to catch it in the frog’s mouth. How many

times in a row can your frog catch his butterfly?
