Assalamu Alaikum

Welcome back to college everybody for the Third Term. I hope that you are all organised and prepared for this important period for the second half of the 2010 academic year. The year 12 VCE students are more than halfway through the year with 15 weeks left until the exams start. I expect year 12 students to maximise their hearts to do their best at everything. I advise the parents of year 12 to have a discussion with their children about their VCE programs. This term is the last chance for VCE students, please study more and play less and then you will achieve much better enter scores. I would like to inform you all staff will be very busy this term because we will have primary entrance exams, Open Day activities, ICAS Competitions and other educational activities. All students have received their Semester 1 Reports. I would encourage each student to think about the teacher comments and use them as a guide to organising an effective study program and you can get some further guidance to maximise your effectiveness this term.

The Holy month of Ramadan will start on the 11th of August 2010 and all Muslims will be fasting until 9th of September 2010. During Ramadan we will have a special timetable. Students will start at 9.00am in the morning and will be dismissed at 3.00 pm starting Wednesday 11th of August in term 3.

I am happy to inform you that the constructions of Science and Language Centre, Multi-purpose Assembly Hall and 3 new classrooms will be completed by the end of this year.

Ilim College is accepting applications for the Ilim College 2011 scholarship program for current year 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 students at the college.

I wish a successful and productive term to all students and staff.

On Wednesday, 9th June, 2010, Member of Federal Parliament for Calwell, Ms. Maria Vamvakinou visited Ilim College.

Ms. Vamvakinou went on a brief tour around the school and was very impressed with our facilities, educational programs offered and the positive attitude and excellent behaviour and manners of our students.

Ms. Vamvakinou conducted a meeting with all the Grade 5 and 6 students who attended the “Active Citizenship” Canberra Camp early in Term 2 this year and awarded our students with special certificates. She also spoke to our students about her role as a Member of Federal Parliament for Calwell.

Our Grade 5 and 6 students thoroughly enjoyed the session with Ms. Vamvakinou and were very excited to receive certificates for attending a very fun and educational camp in Canberra.

We thank Member of Federal Parliament for Calwell Ms. Maria Vamvakinou for visiting Ilim College and inspiring our students.

Education Maintenance Allowance - Instalment Two

The second instalment of the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) payment is due to be paid from mid August onwards for those parents/guardians who chose the EFT payment option on their application form at the start of the year.

Parents and guardians who lodged an EMA application at the beginning of the year do not need to lodge another EMA application to receive the second instalment EMA payment.

Parents/guardians whose children have transferred to this school since 26 February 2010 will need to submit a new EMA application form. Applications close on 6 August 2010.

Parents/guardians who have chosen the cheque payment option will receive their payment from late August / early September.

TURKISH DEPARTMENTDOĞUM GÜNÜMDE OLMASINI

İSTEDİĞİM ŞEY

Ben dogum gunumde birsuru seyin olmasini isterdim. Bunlardan en cok istedigim ise tum sevdigim insanlarin bizim evimize gelmesidir. Mesela her sevdigim kisi hergun gelemez. Yine de en azindan onlarin, dogum gunumde gelmelerini isterdim. O zaman cok guzel olurdu. Eskiden beni okutan tum ogretmenlerim, arkadaslarim, anneannem, amcalarim ve daha birsurusu.

Ikinci istegim ise her gelenin bir hediye getirmesidir. Hediyeler, insanlarin o kisiyi sevdiginin gostergesidir. Benim icin, o hediyenin kucuk veya buyuk olmasi onemli degildir. Yeter ki o hediyeyi iclerinden gelen bir sevgiyle versinler. Ben o hediyeleri saklayip baska kisilere ne kadar sevildigimi bu hediyelerle gosteriyorum. Hediye cok guzel bir sey.

BÜYÜYÜNCE NE OLMAK İSTİYORUM

Ben büyüdüğümde genel cerrah olmak istiyorum. Çünkü, ben insanların önemli sağlık işleriyle ilgilenmeyi çok seviyorum. Ayrıca doktorlar olmasaydı, çoğu insan hastalıktan ölürdü. Ben de bu yüzden genel cerrah olmak istiyorum. Cerrahlar ise insanları ameliyat ediyorlar.

Cerrahlık da diğer meslekler gibi değişik dallara ayrılıyor. Mesela beyin cerrahları, genel cerrahlar ve daha birçok değişik cerrahlık dalları vardır. Ben ise vucudumuzun birçok yerini seviyorum. İnsanların da tek hastalık olan yeri beyin veya sabit bir yer değildir. Bu yüzden de ben genel cerrah olmak istiyorum.

Belki 10-15 dakika gecince Nasrettin Hoca’nin kafasina bir ceviz dusmus, hoplayarak uyanmis. “Ya bu neydi boyle kafama dusen?” diye kendisine sormus bir de yere bakmis ki ceviz tam ayaginin ortasinda oyle duruyormus “Ya, Allah buradaki koca agacin ustunde kabak olsaydi bayilip giderdim.” Diye kafasini kasiyarak dusunmus.

A special congratulations to students in grade five for the outstanding projects submitted on the topic of “Visiting those that are ill”.

The projects showed considerable thought and effort in presentation and content, utilizing elements from Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) Hadith and Do ‘a.

Hepiniz 3. Döneme hoşgeldiniz. Ümid ediyorum ki, hepiniz 2010 akademik yılının ikinci yarısı olan bu döneme çok iyi hazırlandınız. 12. Sınıf VCE öğrencilerimiz yılın yarısını çoktan tamamlarken sınavlarının başlamasına sadece 15 hafta kalmıştır. 12. Sınıf öğrencilerimizden ellerinden gelenin en iyisini yapmalarını bekliyorum. 12. Sınıf öğrencilerimizin velilerine çocuklarıyla VCE programlarıyla ilgili olarak görüşmelerini tavsiye ediyorum. Bu dönem VCE öğrencilerimizin son sansıdır bu nedenle, yüksek giriş puanı alabilmeleri için daha az oyun oynayıp daha fazla çalışmalıdırlar.

Bütün çalışanlarımızın bu dönem içinde yapılacak olan İlkokul Giriş Sınavları, Tanıtım Günü aktiviteleri, ICAS yarışması ve diğer eğitimsel aktivitelerden dolayı çok meşgul olacaklarını sizlere bildirmek isterim. Tüm öğrencilerimiz 1. Sömestr karnelerini almışlardır. Bütün öğrencilerimize bu term içinde daha aktif olmalarında yardımcı olacak olan karnelerindeki öğretmen yorumlarını düşünüp bir klavuz gibi kullanarak kendilerine aktif bir çalışma programı organize etmelerini tavsiye ederim.

Mübarek Ramazan ayı 11 Ağustos 2010’da başlayacaktır ve tüm müslümanlar 9 Eylül 2010 tarihine kadar oruç tutacaktır. Ramazan süresince okulda programlar uygulanacaktır. 3. Dönemde öğrencilerimiz 11 Ağustos Çarşamba günü sabah saat 9.00 da başlayıp saat öğleden sonra saat 3:00pm de dağılacaktır.

Fen ve Dil bilimleri merkezi, Çok amaçlı kullanım binası ve 3 yeni derslik yapımının bu sene sonunda tamamlanacağını sizlere bildirmekten mutluluk duyarım.

Ilim koleji 2011 yılı 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, ve 11. Sınıf öğrencilerinin katılabileceği İlim Koleji Burs programına katılımları kabul etmeye başlamıştır.

Bütün öğrenci ve çalışanlarımıza başarılı ve üretken bir dönem diliyorum.
