JPO PROGRAMME OFFICER (NUTRITION) The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian agency, invites applications for the post of Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Programme Officer (Nutrition) This position will be based in Tanzania. Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Country Director and the direct supervision of the Head of Programme Unit, the incumbent is expected to perform the following duties in cooperation with the National Programme Officer responsible for nutrition: Provide assistance to the implementation of the CO’s nutrition related initiatives, the targeted supplementary feeding (TSF) activity in particular, including preparation and organization of training and workshops; In cooperation with the WFP Logistic Unit, WFP Pipeline Assistant and cooperating partners (district hospitals), plan and organize food distribution in advance to ensure proper, timely and orderly implementation; Contribute to activity planning and elaboration; Conduct regular monitoring visits to the project implementation sites, gather information and consolidate data within the framework of the result based management and produce monitoring reports; Prepare, in cooperation of other CO staff members and consultants, various other reports and briefs such as assessment reports, project progress reports, evaluation reports and operations briefs as required; Ensure the quality and timeliness of monitoring activities, interim assessments and evaluations; Provide the CO management with quality analysis and recommendations on operational matters and monitoring; Update information on food distribution, ODOC resources utilization, beneficiary numbers and any other relevant data for report preparation; In cooperation with the Report and Information Officer, provide assistance to the preparation of the Standardized Project Report for CP at the end of each calendar year; Participate in sector meetings with Government, UN agencies, NGOs and donors for planning and coordination purposes; and Perform any other related duties as requested by the Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Who can apply: Irish citizens who are 35 years old or under at time of application Education : Advanced university degree preferably in one or more of the following disciplines: Nutrition, Public Health, International Development, Development Economics, Public Administration or other relevant Social Science disciplines. Experience :

Minimum of one year relevant professional experience at national/international level (excluding training). Previous work experience in the humanitarian and/or development sector in developing countries is considered as an asset. Language.Working knowledge of English (proficiency/Level C ); limited knowledge of another official WFP language, i.e., Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian (intermediate/Level B). Specifics:Ability to write clearly and concisely for different audiences. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Ability to effectively work in a team and to establish good working relationships with persons of different nationality and cultural backgrounds. Willingness and flexibility to take up new work assignment and travel under harsh conditions. Ability to take intitiative. Good negotiation skills. Good standard computer software skills (Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes or equivalent, internet explorer or equivalent). Other skills: Knowledge of relevant WFP specified software; proficiency in a second official WFP language.
