Dear 1neotericians, ope all of you unleashed your ‘2.0 avatar’ and started off the new Financial Year in good spirits. Change, we must, and change for the better and that is what neoteric has exemplified, time and again. As all of you are aware, neoteric has undergone a paradigm shift from selling hardware to solutions and services, and evolved into a group brand from being just a distributor brand, following the birth of F1 and Plus Plus as its ‘associate companies’. It has been a heroic journey of change and that has strengthened our expertise along various focus areas ranging from solutions to after-sales services. Also, we have widened our horizons of growth by making inroads into additional spaces like software training, app development, digital marketing and other skills-based services. We will be competent and future-ready in these specialized areas, and looking at matching global standards. Moving forward, 1neoteric - neoteric, F1, Plus Plus & One Leap - will collectively aim to bring the newest technology of the world to India. We have made a foray into software services about which we had aspired. The software services business is globally around $2 trillion business. In India, it’s almost an $80 billion business and now we are in this space, with the launch of One Leap. We have merged the ‘AV’ channel vertical (which JFM Page - 1 was earlier a part of NTS) into the larger Commercial BU for better consolidation and channel management of the Commercial partners. Also, we have merged the Components Group into the larger Consumer BU to develop better synergies between both the Teams so that they can leverage on each other’s’ strengths and enhance efficiency, minimize conflicts and enable smoother engagement with our partners. Dear 1neotericians,

ope all of you unleashed your ‘2.0 avatar’ and started off the new Financial Year in good spirits. This is the time to hone your skills, Hadapt well to changes, take on newer challenges, innovate and

emerge out a true winner! As we move ahead, what better than addressing and understanding that Change is the only constant? Let’s once again recall the golden words, ‘Adapt, adapt, adapt or perish’!

F1- neoteric’s associate company is today growing rapidly at 75% yearly in terms of services and expected to have 400 employees and possibly 500, by the end of this year. Moving forward, we are looking at building a franchise model at F1. We have made headway with Apple, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle and other software trainings as part of ‘Evolve’s offerings which is now hosted in One Leap.

Plus Plus Consulting & Services Pvt. Ltd. (PPCS)- neoteric’s associate company is poised to take our end-customer engagement to the next level as the End-customer sales Team for IT Solutions which was a part of neoteric, is now a part of PPCS, alongside the Marketing Team, the HR Team, the IT Team and select end-customer facing members from F1. We plan to get into technology-logistics when the right moment comes.

In keeping with the changing economy and market situation, we announced a new organization design which is in the best interest of our business-growth - we now have only two larger BUs in neoteric-Consumer and Commercial. This overall consolidation will definitely help us collectively march towards our goals in a smarter and faster way, and drive better organizational discipline. We have merged the ‘AV’ channel vertical (which

was earlier a part of NTS) into the larger Commercial BU for better consolidation and channel management of the Commercial partners. Also, we have merged the Components Group into the larger Consumer BU to develop better synergies between both the Teams so that they can leverage on each other’s’ strengths and enhance efficiency, minimize conflicts and enable smoother engagement with our partners. This new, evolved and streamlined organizational structure will enable us to adopt a systematic approach to our business and enhance our efficiency.

Success is imperative. All of us are equal party to neoteric’s history and we need to collectively bring about the change towards success by being, by becoming and also by demanding the better and the best in all that we do! We need to implement best practices in all our businesses. With our SLAs and TAT falling in place, we will see higher service levels and accountability which in turn will drive our proficiency. Our journey of change has largely been a win for us; whatever we may have lost – be it in terms of people, processes and businesses -- we want to regain more than that. This is the organization of opportunities which encourages and nurtures new ideas, new thoughts. We believe that there is always a scope of adding value to the vendor strategy and enhance it further. We need to go the extra mile to identify and build

that, alongside creating orders and business. We want to propagate our services through our partners; the power of neoteric and neoteric’s channel will help bring best practices to the table. Collectively, we can definitely achieve

our mission of becoming the most preferred Distributor for both our Vendors and Partners. As part of our core fundamentals, we will continue going all out to create customer demand and

customers. As A GROUP, we want to become the one-stop technology services provider either through our partners, to end-customers or otherwise.

Let’s do it!

ith my head still buzzing the Doctor’s words, “Don't move your arm - the more you move, longer it Wwill take to heal, movement will

lead to pain, let’s see what your scans say - then we shall see…’, I got into my car. The ‘me’ started figuring out ways in which 'me' will be able to drive the car with one hand -

one ‘me’ is starting the car, heyyyy, the car is an ‘automatic’… a sigh of relief - not

bad, thank God for small mercies... the other ‘me’ is fading out my

conversation with the Doctor and automatically, a 'me' is navigating through appropriate intersection and taking me to my office. The phone rang… I reached out for it. Suddenly, i noticed another 'me' cautiously looking out for a traffic cop, and yet another ‘me’ who sneakily added a task on my mental notes… and all this while, there is this ‘me’ who is talking into the phone and a ‘me’ reading in between the lines of the implication of the conversation… Bingo!!! -

i was on a ‘multi-tasking’ auto-mode. All of us are on auto-mode during routine activities at

home; cooking, cleaning, getting ready and even driving are usually on auto-mode but today, i

have an injured arm so my driving is a bit alert and a bit painful - but

the other ‘me's are on auto-

Deep Dive with DPS

mode… and therefore, a deep dive into the number of me’s and their auto-mode avataars. How many many many ‘me's and each ‘me’ having its own egos and dreams?!!! How does one assimilate all the ‘me's to even look at THE one goal as the common goal - don't all of us have that many ‘me's to deal with and those many times don’t we find that one 'me' is as difficult to please as the other 'me'?! And we do find ourselves saying that there is a part of ‘me’ that is refusing to listen to the rational ‘me’ - not able to buy what the other me is selling - a ‘me’ that says - want to be with my parents when they grow old, an auto-mode ‘me’ scolding ‘me’ for forgetting something critical - a ‘me’ that says, want to be a hands-on Dad - can any of the ‘me’s get anywhere just by being on auto-mode ??? Also, there is this ‘me’ that says, want to find time to chill out with friends - an auto-mode ‘me’ pressing the like button and sending emoticons on social media -a ‘me’ that says want to move out of micromanagement - a ‘me’ that sees a loop hole in the process flow and feels helpless, a ‘me’ that is struggling to delegate, a ‘me’ that ignores the need to take action to apologize, a ‘me’ that sidetracks an opportunity to be assertive… So many ‘me's and each ‘me’ driving the other ‘me’ - there are ‘me's that i don't like so much and there are ‘me's that i find so stupid and there are some ‘me's which don't listen to ‘me’ - i told my ‘me’ to keep calm but - off the handle the auto-mode ‘me’ flew - i looked into the mirror, fixed the ‘me’ with a touch of office war-paint - and paused… erased the frown, replaced it with the smile- paused and frowned again -which ‘me’ do i like ? …Who is the real ‘me’ - how do i search the real ‘me’ …?! - reached office . . . an auto- mode ‘me’ flashing the smile, the morning greetings - and going through the motions of office . . . And

now, umm… where is THE ‘me’!!!? Sorry? What!!! Ya, on auto-mode!!!

The values I cherish in lifeValues are the stepping stones that help us in the journey of life and become important life’s lessons too. Coming from a close-knit family, I got to learn the most important yet basic values and principles of life that I still adhere by; the most important one being truthfulness and honesty that is still the best policy in life. It’s honesty that keeps my thoughts clear and mind focussed and helps me live life peacefully. The second most important value is simplicity that helps me stay grounded at all times. Besides these, a couple of others values that I believe in are – social & professional ethics, integrity, respect for elders and tolerance. The most memorable event of my lifeIt might sound clichéd but at this juncture the only memorable event that comes to my mind is the day I joined this organization. The memories of that day have remained with me till date.A book / movie that has influenced me the mostThere are so many movies that have left a deep impression on my mind. But in the recent times, it was ‘3 Idiots’ that influenced me a lot. No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I never get bored. It is young, fresh and socially relevant too. The message it tried to put across to the audience was – follow your passion – and that got deeply etched on my mind. I’ve tried to imbibe that in my life too.The secret of my professional successAs a child I had read the story of the ant which tries to climb the wall and keeps falling every time it tries; but doesn’t lose hope. It tries and tries until it finally succeeds. I’ve tried to implement that mantra in my professional life too, and I must say, it has really helped me. I believe it was my patience and perseverance that made me stand the test of time – and kept me going.Few words about my experience @ 1neotericMy experience @ 1neoteric has been truly enriching and rewarding. The day I first walked into the premises, I still remember I had felt some deep connection with the organization. And as presumed, I did manage to spend the longest and most precious time of my life here. It has helped me grow – both professionally and personally – and brought out the best in me.

My vision for the company To have F1 recognized as one of the most value added Services organization in the country, with the best-in-class customer experience - an organization upon which customers can vouch. My feedback of the earlier issues of @ 1neotericThe earlier issues have all been great fun and an eye opener too. It is a really good social platform for every single member of the organization to network, express, improvise, bond and strengthen. Keep it up!Present challenges in the business that I drive. The need for speedy execution and ownership at every levelWhat makes 1neoteric so special and unique as an organization? Our core beliefs and ethical business practices which flow in the veins of every individual of the organization make 1neoteric special & uniqueThe competencies that take a person up in the corporate ladderLeadership, social integrity, professionalism, responsibility, commitment towards one’s work and smart time management -- these are the key competencies that take a professional many notches higher on the corporate ladder.Message to all 1neotericians at this junctureLife is challenges…… take it up and make the most of it!

Rapid Fire RoundPassion in life: Exploring exotic destinations

Favourite holiday spot: Istanbul… I’m yet to go there and live my dream.

Gadgets I can’t live without: I cannot imagine a single day without my phone, laptop and my iPad.

Celebrity I’d like to spend a day with and why: If given a chance, I’d like to spend a day with Barack Obama – to learn how he strikes a smart balance between the role of a President and a family man.

My goal in life: To follow in the footsteps of Ratan Tata and Narayan Murthy, and learn from their visions.

Quote I believe in: “Leaders are like tea bags. Only when you put them in hot water do you know how strong they really are.”

The VIP in my life: It’s none other than my wife who has stood by me in the toughest of times… and been the best that a companion can ever be.

The true “Leap” was taken in JFM 2014, where we saw couple of prestigious orders for software development being closed by our team. We won these orders in the face of stiff competition from international and established domestic companies. Overall, through the

combined revenues of training and software services, OneLeap achieved a top line of INR 8.5 million for the FY 13-14. The projected revenue for FY 14-15 is INR 40 million (combined, i.e. software and training)

Strong business cases encompassing established organizations like Accenture, Citrus Payment Solutions, Films Division of India, and Adobe India were the hallmark of seamless, on time, and quality driven execution of our services.

Our flagship offerings in this quarter were the CRM solution, ERP for Legal Practice Management, Apple Training programs, and Digital Marketing Services. We also undertook a mandate on further strengthening our capabilities for mobile applications, and to acquire competencies for business analytics.

We want to be recognized as a company with the approach of “Cloud First, Mobile First”, and focus on providing solutions for specific business verticals. Our service approach that of a consultative nature, where we interact through various interventions with the concerned stake holders to align on expectations, thereby ensuring a measureable RoI based engagement.

In the FY 2014-15, we will be adding more muscle to business analytics, and cloud services to strengthen our portfolio, and scale our manpower from a team of 15 to almost 35, ensuring we become an end to end solutions company.

We attribute our timely execution and customer satisfaction to our operations framework which is built around the

“Agile” practices of execution. The “Agile” approach has been acknowledged

internationally, as the most effective and transparent way for

TECHINASIA recently came

out with a few interesting statistics about the startup scene in India:

• An average of about 970 technology-product entities gets started every year in India, and only about 380 incorporate the entity as a corporation.

• The mortality rate of these entities is quite high, with over 60% pivoting or going dormant within 12 to 18 months.

• 61 percent of startups are focused on business oriented offerings – and about 39% are geared towards consumer applications such as mobile apps, social networks and e-commerce, among others.

• There are three main challenges that the Indian startup ecosystem faces: the paucity of exits, the lack of a sophisticated angel investor and mentor network, and the inherent risk-averse nature of the Indian middle class.

The JFM quarter saw us signing off new accounts which are now operational in the AMJ quarter. One of the highlights was the successful roll-out of our

systems management software – ‘F1Smart’ for all major projects. We managed to seamlessly integrate ‘F1Smart’ with our customer’s accounts through EDI (Electronic Data Interchange - an electronic communication system that provides standards for exchanging data via any electronic means); one of the major accounts being Apple. Another highlight for us was the achievement of budgeted numbers.

In February, we set up and kick-started a TRC (Technical Repair Centre) with skilled manpower at Okhla, New Delhi to increase the overall repair capacity. We had initiated this process in low-scale last year.

During the JFM quarter, we had a flurry of appreciations coming our way. Toshiba appreciated us for our NPS scores and for achieving C-SAT while Ingenico & Adata applauded us for achieving TAT. BenQ congratulated us for achieving all parameters of the SLA in the Education sector.

In keeping with our organization’s learning and development-oriented environment, we conducted continuous Technical Web-Based & Classroom trainings across the country. To acknowledge and thank employees with superlative performance and motivate the others, we rolled out a Rewards & Recognition Scheme in the JFM quarter which is based on measurable criteria. We saw a significant rise in the number of appreciations received for projects in all regions.

F1’s area of business- i.e., the ‘Services’ Industry- is currently thriving on managed services and annual maintenance contract (AMCs). There is a huge potential for services business in the IT &

Mobile sector. The monsoons are the peak season for the ‘Service’ industry, so we foresee the next 3-4 months to be crucial for

us. We seek to establish F1 in the market as an AMC/FMS Service Provider.

As part of F1’s focus areas for the AMJ quarter, we have opened new Service centres in Karnal,

Faridabad & North Delhi.

Our current focus is on optimum productivity. We have conducted frequent Soft Skill Trainings around

Customer Delight for our front-ending staff, alongside regular reviews on MIS & Target achievement. We

would be conducting Regional Reviews every quarter; we are already through with our 1st review for West BMs which would be followed by North, East & then West, starting June. Also, we are gearing up for the RM & PM Meets – “Ek Team, Ek Lakshya, 2014-15” to be held in Delhi from the 2nd to 4th of June.

The single-most message for all F1-ites at this juncture is “Ek Team, Ek Lakshya” and the “Lakshya” is encapsulated by the following 5 points– (1) SLA achievement (2) CSAT (3) Productivity at all levels (4) Revenue achievement as per Targets (5) Gross Margin.

F1 has come a long way since its kick-off as an autonomous organisation in 2012, thanks to its strong roots which lie in neoteric. May the AMJ quarter usher in more achievements for F1 as well as 1neoteric, at large.

Best Regards, General Manager - Services,F1 Info Solutions & Services Pvt. Ltd.

achieving goals by delivering incremental value to customers.

We believe that our constant strive to work with the best, to work on cutting-edge technologies, and to acquire the best of available intellectuals is, and will continue to be the differentiator when compared with other peer companies.

India has a fast-growing, young ecosystem, with still a limited number of start-ups, and OneLeap happens to be one of them. We strongly believe that India is, and will dominate the world as far as software is concerned. The challenge is to produce world-class software products in India.

1neoteric has launched a leadership campaign called, ‘Advantage WIN’. It is a self-enrichment program that enables its participants to lead their professional and personal journey by design and not default. A year-long program, ‘Advantage WIN’ will equip us with tools that will enable each one of us to control our journey by design and not by default.

This year being a woman in 1neoteric has its advantages, since currently this program is being conducted for all women in 1neoteric. It seeks to help them inch closer towards their dreams and identify the extraordinary in themselves through ‘DIY’( Do-It-Yourself) -‘smart’ tools and tactics. The complete success of Advantage WIN rests in the hands of the active participants. As part of this programme, every woman 1neoterician will volunteer as a “buddy” to make a difference in a clearly identified and declared ‘woman’ who matters to them in their life within or outside of Mumbai. In that role, she would monitor progress, be a Coach, Mentor and Emotional Anchor, and see the nominated woman move towards her goals.

Moving forward, 1neoteric endeavours to extend this program to men@1neoteric as well so that they may also reap its multi-dimensional benefits and enrich their lives at multiple levels.

In today’s fast-paced world, we acknowledge each other with a smile, eye contact and maybe just a greeting; most of the times, we don't know the person beyond the persona (perception about him or her created by us). Keeping this in view, Soma Chakraborty*, as part of HR initiative kick-started a programme ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’ (BBM)- with an objective to provide all 1neotericians (neoteric, F1, Plus Plus & OneLeap members) an opportunity to discover each other beyond who they are in there day to day work avatars - through candid conversations. The power of the campaign lies in the fact that it is conducted across neoteric and all its associate companies, interlinking diverse teams, groups and departments on common light –hearted, close-to-heart topics such as hobbies, pets, siblings, All-time favourite book / movie and so on. BBM is a pan-India 1neoteric activity that will help 1neotericians bond with one another and change the way they know each other.

PREM SINGH, who is currently an Assistant Manager for handling F1 Apple services, completed 20 years with 1neoteric on the 25th of March, 2014. He was one of the first service employees to join neoteric (way back in 1994) even before the organization got into IT ‘distribution’ business. He started his journey at the erstwhile neoteric-

Opera House office, handling services of scanners, monitor repair and providing telephonic support to customers. He also handled Iomega, Plustek, Asus & BenQ. At that time, he was the sole Engineer at neoteric who handled services. From 2008 onwards, he started handling Apple services.

During his tenure at 1neoteric, he completed MCSC, CCNA and few other courses. Prem married 16 years back ago and has a 14 year old son and 9 year old daughter. Currently, he stays with his family at Andheri (W).

Prem has expressed that he has enjoyed every moment of his journey at 1neoteric.

SAVITA PAYMODE, who is currently handling Ingenico and A-Data products at F1, completed 15 years with 1neoteric on the 15th of March, 2014. She joined us as an Engineer in Vashi, involved in the repair-work for motherboards and eventually, moved on to handling inventory management. Later, she seized the opportunity to handle Moser

Baer backend-support and vendor management. In due course, she took on the mantle of managing almost 15 products at a time.

Savita started working with us when her elder daughter was 9 months old. Her daughter is writing her 10th exams now. Her immediate family comprises her three children – two daughters and a son, her helpful mother-in-law and a supportive husband who recently joined the neoteric warehouse Team.

Savita is happy and thankful working at 1neoteric. As per her own words, her growth at 1neoteric has been very dynamic. She was encouraged by all her seniors throughout her journey. She fondly recalls how PHS had encouraged her to move ahead from repair activities and see the growth beyond. This further motivated her to DREAM BIG and reach a point in her career at 1neoteric which gives her satisfaction.
