Message from the Pastor W elcome to St. Ambrose ! We are so glad you are able to
join us today to celebrate the Epiphany of the Lord. LOOKING IN THE RIGHT PLACES: “Appearances can be deceiving,” as the saying goes. As we celebrate the epipha-nia, the “appearing” of the eternal Word of God on earth, this is still true. What rapturous foresight must have filled Isaiah as he wrote the words we hear today. How, for four hundred years, they must have filled the hearts of the people of Israel with hope for the day when God’s glory would shine on them. How deceived some must have felt when the glory of God came to them in the lowliest and humblest of human lives. We have many expectations about how the divine presence will appear among us. But we can also set ourselves up, through these expectations, to miss the divine glory when it truly appears. We get caught up in looking for the star, forgetting that the star is not the divine sign, the babe is. It may take a persistent journey for us to come upon the true appearance of God’s glory in our lives: Jesus Christ. Have a wonderful week—Remember—the most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling; and even more beautiful is knowing that you are the reason behind it!

ANNIVERSARY MASS — All Wedding Anniversaries for the month will be celebrated on the Last Sunday of the month at the 10:30 am Mass. Bible Study – Exodus: Called to Freedom
Do you want to experience true freedom? Have you ever wondered freedom means, and how to find it? Exodus is often seen as the defining moment in Israel’s history, when God called Israel out of slavery in Egypt to freedom. The story of Exodus isn’t only Israel’s story, however -- it’s also our story. Exodus: Called to Freedom looks through the lens of Christ and the Church to show how God ultimately desired to free us from the deadly grip of sin so that we could have authentic freedom. Exodus: Called to Freedom will be presented from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, January 5 through March 22, in the Parish Hall Upper Room. Register in the parish office. Marriage Preparation All registered couples who wish to be married in a Catholic ceremony in Saint Ambrose Church must first meet with
Father Dalton, Father Lynch or Father Dariusz in preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage. It is
advisable that couples not set a firm date for the wedding until they have attended this meeting. At this meeting, the Parish Marriage Ministry will explain the importance of the sacrament of marriage and the Archdiocesan Rules and Parish Guidelines. SAINT AMBROSE/SVDP SOCIETY Thank you to our Food Pantry Volunteers. Every Thursday morning from 8 am to 10 am, distributing food to the needy and homeless of our area.
Thanks to all who respond so generously to our requests. Although many answer our call, the need is still great. Please remember the food baskets and poor boxes as you leave Church. The poor and needy are always among us. Thank you for caring.
