Olympic Peninsula - Chapter 74 - Sequim, Washington
November 2018
President’s Message
Seems to me that I have had this job for a full year
now. It gives me a much greater appreciation for those
I've followed. As an organization we have been very for-
tunate to have willing, able and capable people to fill the
board and leadership positions. Once again, I have to
acknowledge that many people make this club function
well and my job as well. For a small group we are in many
ways a generous one. We also are involved in our com-
munity. Our road cleanup crew is probably done for the
year baring seasonally unusual great weather and we
have fulfilled our obligation for the year. The crew may
start again in March.
Our next dinner meeting is November 12. Expect tur-
key dinner and all the trimmings. We may have someone
from Sequim PD accept a check for our K-9 fundraising
which amounted to about $640.00 the last time I checked.
Please remember to bring canned food to the dinner to
support the food bank which is our fund raiser for the
month.
At last month’s dinner we had Becca Yucha from
Emergency Management speak, she had some paper-
work with her but not enough to hand out. I made some
copies for our next dinner.
By the time you get this newsletter, Halloween and
electioneering will be over or close to it. The second big-
gest holiday shopping is now for Halloween. It might be
an indicator of where we're going as a society. We skip
over Thanksgiving and move right on to Christmas Door

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES TO:
LIFE’S AXIOMS
Ageing is when I’m starting to think I’ll never be
old enough to know better.
Success isn’t permanent, and failure isn’t fatal.
Mike Ditka, Football Coach
Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.
Minds are like parachutes - they only function
when open.
Thomas Dewar
A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad
memory.
If you want the rainbow, you got to put up with
the rain.
When everything is coming your way, you’re in
the wrong lane.
A conscience is what hurts when all your other
parts feel so good.
Welcome home Michael Lawrence. It is good
to see you doing well.
Our condolences to David White and his family
on the passing of his father.
Tony Storm has good days and bad days but is
making the best of his cancer treatments. We
pray for Eileen Lawrence and Christine White as
they begin their treatments. Let’s keep everyone
in your thoughts and prayers.

Buster Sales. It is all about more stuff. Gone
is personal charity and we're all in for Govern-
ment charity. Used to be people didn't give to
the deadbeat down the street because some
people don't want to change, and it is a waste
of money. With Government charity no one is
excluded, all are enabled, good and worth-
less. In my mind if someone forcibly takes
your money and gives it to someone else it’s
not charity, its theft. The mesh on the safety
net is so small there is little fear of ever hitting
rock bottom. Without bottoming out some peo-
ple will never change and get better. I know I come over heartless to some peo-
ple, mostly the ones that tell me how they
need to spend my money. I worked for it and I
should decide what charity is worthwhile to
me. Personally, I primarily give to groups that
believe in God and foster a strong moral com-
pass in children. Second, veteran’s groups
and real veterans aid because of what veter-
ans have given to preserve this nation. Third,
to youth groups that cultivate a good work eth-
ic and honest competition. I also give to Toys
for Tots and things like the food bank because
children shouldn't suffer because their parents
take care of themselves first. Sometimes I
give to other causes, but I am rarely disap-
pointed when I stay within my core beliefs. I
try to keep it local, so I can see it work. I don't
care who you give to but use your heart, your
brain and your bounty.
