WHY USE A PICTURE SCHEDULE? To increase understanding of new vocabulary.

To aid in learning how to do a particular task.

To help teach the concept of sequencing and ordinal terms. eg first, next, last.

To promote INDEPENDENCE (the ultimate goal)

To complete task/tasks on his/her own without requiring additional cues.

THE BRAIN IS CONSTANTLY USING ELECTRICAL IMPULSES TO COMMUNICATE.

When the left part of the brain and the right part of the brain do not mature at the same speed, these electrical impulses can can get out of sync and interfere when sharing and intregrating information.

WHY DO WE WANT A CHILD TO BE ABLE TO CROSS MIDLINE?

It is an idicator of how well they will read.

It helps the child to have better self control.
