MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT-Mar 2018

1. Sankalp is now opening library at its Kalahandi Centre at Talnuagaon. A desktop has

also been donated for imparting Digital Literacy Classes at the same centre.

2. Sankalp would now start building the school developing sund infra for its school in

Kalahandi, Sankalp Vidyashram.

3. Moral Values sessions were organized at Telco Centre by Christina Mam, our teacher

for junior batch at the centre.

4. Evening classes have been started for coaching students and develop sound command

over basic academics at Talnuagaon Centre.

5. Somnath Ji, our Giridih Centre coordinator has collected funds from crown funding

and is now laying the foundation of Sankalp’s 3rd centre in Giridih at Ravias Tola,

Sitalpur. More than 100 children from class 1 to class 5 have enrolled for free tuition

classes which will commence the class in April

6. Parent- Volunteers Meeting was held at Mohan Nagar Centre and below are the key

points of the meeting:

1. Results of students were checked and the fields of improvement were discussed. 2. For sponsored students the parents were warned to improve and maintain a decent result. 3. The parents were informed that the readmission fee & book fee for sponsored students will be transferred directly to their bank account in 2 to 3 working days.

7. Drawing Competition was held across the centres and winners from all the centres

were awarded by the volunteers.

8. Sankalp President is taking preparatory classes at Navodaya Centre on weekends.

9. Sankalp offered financial help of Rs 10,000 for medical treatment of a child through

India Rehab Centre.

10. Our esteemed Alumnus, Manish Madhukar has taken sponsorship of one more kid

and has also roped in 2 of his batchmates to sponsor needy children from Sankalp

11. Vishwajeet, our 2k14 batch alumnus celebrated his birthday by distributing swees and

chocolates for Navodaya Centre students.

12. Mock Tests are regularly held across all the centres for Navodaya Entrance

preparation

13. Philanthropy marked its zenith in Giridh when Ms Chanchal Bhadani, President of

Inner Wheels Club celebrated her daughter’s birthday at a restaurant by inviting our

students from Sitalpur and Sihodih Centres

14. Arti, a new teacher at Dhanbad Centre has recently joined and is taking classes

regularly.

15. Creative Writing Competition was held at Centre and the winners were awarded by

Rahul, our Dhanbad Centre Volunteer

16. A novel teaching concept was introduced where children were asked to take classes

by selecting any subject and topic at Sankalp Vidyashram, Kalahandi.

17. A documentary featuring our NIT Centre student, Rohit was made by students of NIT

Jamshedpur for their Annual Tech Fest.

18. A full house meeting was held with Girls Volunteers to motivate them. It was a

session where many new and creative ideas to improve the ambience of classroom

like pasting educational posters, showing video clips to children, pasting motivational

posters were discussed. The plans would be implemented in the next academic year.

19. Various improvement initiatives have been planned for our centres in the new

academic session. The prominent among them are :

a. India and World Maps across the centres

b. KP Thakur books for English Translation

c. Regular Weekly sessions for interaction in English and improving English

communication skills

d. 10 new students would be added to Sankalp’s sponsorship list in FY 19

20. Sankalp has planned to open a centre exclusively for transgenders in Jamshedpur in

FY 19.

21. Sankalp received request from Tree Hope Foundation based in Uganda, Africa for

funds to start new libraries and strengthen the reading and writing skills of children

enrolled at the NGOs centres.

22. Manasa and Adrija, second year volunteers have been given responsibility of handling

Social Media updates for Sankalp Facebook and Twitter page.

23. Drawing Competition as held at Aashiyana Centre and winners were awarded by the

volunteers.

24. Stationery Distribution for Telco Centre children was organized by Tata Motors

Finance Department.

25. Our Aashiyana Centre teacher, Ms Padma who is also a firebrand social activist was

awarded by City Superintendent of Police, Seraikila Kharsawan District on the eve of

Women’s Day on 8th March 2018.

26. Giridih Centre Visit Report

a. CT and other activities are organized on regular basis

b. Brief discussion with students was also held to get ground report

c. The idea of Sankalp was communicated to teachers at the centre.

27. Final instalment of the sponsorship amount was donated to Telco Centre students in

the presence of Meena Mukherjee, Head of UFHE NGO

28. Monthly interaction led by President took place with the Team and special mention

was made to the tireless efforts which the volunteers are making for making the

different activities successful

1. Both Sankalp-A pledge to change and Sankalp Volunteers group FB

page noted huge hike in likes and membership over the month

2. Sankalp saw a huge rise in daily requests for addition to its FB Page of

Sankalp Volunteers Group.
