MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT-July 2016 1. Sankalp Team organized its annual creativity week at all Centres in the month of May 2. Under the creativity week the following events were organized a. Speech Competition b. Essay Competition c. Clay Model Making Competition d. Drawing Competition 3. Children were engaged in varied creative events to promote and encourage their creative thinking power. 4. Only when we move from book based learning to activity based learning, we can hope to improve the creative instincts of the students 5. Sankalp completed the fund transfer for students who will be sponsored in Majalgaon district of Maharashtra, a district known frequent farmer suicides. The oversight of the entire progress report of the students will be seen by Naam Foundation. 6. Sankalp President will be travelling to meet Naam Foundation members and the sponsored students and their parents in the month of September 7. Sankalp Team had the honour to meet SNL Bearings’ Managing Director, President and Operations Head at its Ratu plant in Ranchi. The meeting was immensely successful and SNL Bearings committed to support Sankalp’s initiatives in the coming year as well. a. Minutes of meeting with SNL BEARINGS 1. A board or flier mentioning SNL BEARINGS contribution to Sankalp centres to be put at every centre 7.SNL BEARINGS association to be highlighted over website 8. Funds mgmt and utilisation to be audited by CA and report submitted quarterly 8. Desk and benches were bought for NIT Centre. Improving Centre’s infra will add to the look and feel of the centres and provide comfort to children . 9. Sankalp got enrolled under ProEngage, Tata Group’s flagship programme for providing a common platform to its employees to work as change agents for communities in their vicinity. Under the ProEngage programme, 4 employees of Tata Group will be doing their project with Sankalp. a. Shantanu Patnaik b. Rachana Tripathy c. Renu Pandey d. Ashwini Mishra 10. MONTHLY ACTIVITY REPORT-July 2016

1. Sankalp Team organized its annual creativity week at all Centres in the month of May 2. Under the creativity week the following events were organized

income like selling of brooms, any hand made products (full supply chain model) e. Most backward blocks of Bihar and Jharkhand where immediate intervention is required

11. NIT Centre has been renovated and classes will run from the month of August 12. Sankalp Team came forward to lend a helping hand to Yogesh, a boy from giridih district.

Yogesh hails from an underprivileged family and needed Sankalp’s support to pursue his coaching for ITI entrances. Regular funds are now provide to Yogesh to help him continue hos studies. Vivek, Sankalp’s Secretary gifted Yogesh a mobile phone on his birthday.

13. Ms. Preeti from 2k11 batch gifted a pair of shoes to Tapan on his birthday. 14. A new teacher has joined our Telco Centre as a regular teacher for catering to junior

children. 15. XLRI Students visited Sankalp Centre and took note of the tvarious apranters affecting the

quality of education. A team of 12 XL Grads are working on the project Named- Assessment Metrics for Sankalp Centres. The report would be submitted by Oct end.

16. Our Alumnus Mr Shashi from 1973 batch and MD of Energo India Pvt Ltd. Approached Sankalp for sponsoring their projects and supporting Sankalp in its expansion particularly in Bihar and Jharkhand. A preliminary draft proposal has been submitted by Sankalp Team to M/s Energo Ltd.

17. Two more sponsors agreed to sponsor Sankalp Children. a. Manpreet will sponsor Deepak from NIT Centre b. 12 students from 2k12 batch will completely sponsor students of Naam Foundation.

18. Sankalp’s Giridih Centre has got stabilized and classes are successfully running with the support and coordination of Abhivyakti Foundation. Drawing Competition was organized a the centre with active coordination rom Mr Somnath from Abhivyakti Foundation.

19. Stationery distribution event was organized at Jamui Centre in Bihar. 20. Nivedita Jha Memorial Trust , a social welfare trust formed in memory of late Ms. Nivedita

Jha held a stationery donation event at our NIT Centre. 21. MIG Centre has been shifted to a new location. The classes are now running at Adardh

Bhawan, Adityapur. 22. New teams from previous year volunteers have been formed to take stock of activities at

different centers. 23. Sankalp celebrated anniversary of its Telco Centre and 1 years of operation of Aashiyana

Center. 24. Sankalp Team gifted tennis ball cricket set to Aashiyana Center boys. 25. Sankalp is also planning to commence Computer Education at Mohan Nagar Centre. 26. Pahal- EK Nayi Soch , our partner in Bihar, and its team is working extremely hard and driving

literacy plans with zeal and passion 27. Monitoring of the classes, the attendance and quality have been made more strict

a. Frequent visit by President and other volunteers to stabilize the centre b. Regular report of the syllabus completed and lessons taught at the centre is

monitored thru WhatsApp group c. Pics of the classes are shared online

28. Report from Dhanbad Centre 1) Brought one more chair & one more white board with the help of my friend

Manu Rajan as no of children have increased & one more teacher has been appointed. 2) Solar system covered by Manu Rajan 3 ) Room rent paid for the month till aug 4) Smriti admitted 7 children in govt school as they were not enrolled in any school & talked to their parents. 5) Basics of computer education was covered.

6) Clay model making competition with the help of Manu Rajan, Shanu, Rahul (local volunteers)

29. Monthly interaction led by President took place with the Team and special mention was made to the tireless efforts which the volunteers are making for making the different activities successful

30. Both Sankalp-A pledge to change and Sankalp Volunteers group FB page noted huge hike in likes and membership over the month

31. Sankalp saw a huge rise in daily requests for addition to its FB Page of Sankalp Volunteers group Thanks to all the Volunteers and well-wishers for your continuous support and wishes.
