Tool Grinding Line:Nikken Toolholders are precisionground to ensure good contact(more than 80% taper contact) anda totally reliable interface betweenthe machine tool spindle andworkpiece.
Ion Nitriding:Ion Nitriding improves the wear resistance andsliding performance of Nikken products andcomponents (i.e. Tough-cut reamers; worm wheelsused in Nikken CNC Rotary tables etc.) by reducingthe surface friction coefficient.
Carbonising and Sub-zero treatment:All Nikken tooling products undergo sub-zerotreatment. After carbonising and quenchingprocesses - Nikken tooling products are treated inminus 90 degree temperatures to eliminate residualaustenite and create 100% martensitecompositions.

Multi-Lock Milling Chucks provide users with highly-accurate and
flexible milling capability.
Multi-Lock Milling Chucks are available as Standard Technology and
Advanced Technology products.
The design and manufacture of Nikken Multi-Lock Milling Chucks
ensure higher performance and improved machining process
reliability.
1. All Multi-Lock chucks contain a multi-roller system that
includes 140% more needle rollers compared to competitor
products. These needle rollers are arranged to provide extra
rigidity and give customers increased chucking torque and
reduced wear and damage on bearing surfaces (less than
1 - 2 microns wear even after constant use).
2. All Multi-Lock chucks have a solid and thickened chuck body
wall which reduces distortion even during heavy-duty
milling operations and interrupted cutting.
3. Internal slots in the chuck body reduce the effects
oil/lubricant on the shank of the cutting tool and therefore
prevent a reduction in chucking torque and/or slippage of
the tool shank.
4. Advanced Multi-Lock Milling Chucks incorporate a more rigid
and reliable clamping mechanism in the nose of the chuck
which delivers improved milling performance - high metal
removal or fine finishing - and reduced tool wear.
5. Standard and Advanced Multi-Lock Milling Chucks’ run-out
accuracy is guaranteed within 5 microns.
Multi-Lock Standard Technology products are taper contact
only and are available in BT30/40/50; IT40/50 shank sizes.

Multi-Lock Advanced Technology products are available in
NBT30/40/50; HSK 40A/50A/63A/100A; MBT40/50; IT40X/50X
shank sizes. The NBT products feature the 2-Lock system -
taper & flange contact. IT ‘X’ & ‘N’ type holders offer users the
benefit of higher spindle speeds over standard technology equivalents
(balanced up to 30,000 rpm). See page 17.
The MBT products feature the 3-Lock system - taper & flange
contact with dampening built-in. See page 18.

Nikken’s Major Dream Holders provide customers with the optimum
toolholder solution. The toolholders’ 2-lock (BT Double face contact)
design with internal dampening mechanism deliver excellent cutting
performance (heavy-duty roughing through to super-fine finishing)
and reduced tool wear.
1. Major Dream Holders feature TiN Bearing Nut technology.
TiN Bearing Nuts are more efficient and deliver better
all-round performance than holders using conventional ball
bearing nuts.
- good sliding effect and reduced friction due to the TiN
Bearing Nuts’ surface hardness (HV2,200)
- reduced internal corrosion for long life and improved
cutting performance
- better balance improves surface finish and run-out accuracy
- improved flange contact results in less vibration and
therefore improved accuracy.
2. Major Dream Holders provide the optimum solution on
linear guideway and box guideway machining centres.
Major Dream Holders are Advanced Technology products and are
available in NBT30/40/50; HSK63A; IT40N. The NBT products feature
the 2-Lock system - taper & flange contact. See page 20.

VC Holders: Milling and High-Speed Milling
Nikken’s VC Holders are equipped with TiN Bearing Nut technology
and provide users with extra gripping torque, improved rigidity and
excellent and reliable run-out accuracy. They provide superior
machining performance even during high-speed applications - up to
40,000rpm.
1. VC Holders have a TiN coated bearing plate which reduces
friction and allows greater thrust.
2. The Holders have a 8 degree taper for improved gripping
torque and high-precision.
3. The thick wall design of the holder improves rigidity during
cutting operations.
4. Run-out accuracy is less than 3 microns at 4 x D.
5. Collet flange contact reduces vibration and improves surface
finish and tool life.
VC Holders are Advanced Technology products and are available
in NBT30/40/50; HSK40A/63A; IT40X/50X shank sizes. The NBT
products feature the 2-Lock system - taper & flange contact.

Nikken’s Zero Fit Holders can help rectify the accuracy of machining
centres and their spindles. When a machine is 2-3 years old the
run-out accuracy of the spindle will decline. Zero Fit Holders can
correct run-out errors and can help achieve accuracies back to
0.001mm - 0.002mm (100mm from gauge line).
As a consequence customers can get a new lease of life from their
machine tool by changing their toolholders to Zero Fit.
Zero Fit Holders are available as Advanced Technology products.
1. All Zero Fit Holders can dramatically improve surface finish.

Slim Chucks: Drilling
Nikken’s Slim Chucks provide customers with high-gripping torque and
excellent run-out accuracy for high-precision milling and drilling.
Slim Chucks are available as Standard and Advanced Technology
products.
1. Slim Chucks incorporate TiN Bearing Nut technology. TiN
Bearing Nuts are more efficient and deliver better all-round
performance than holders using conventional ball bearing
nuts.

Bearing Nuts’ surface hardness (HV2,200)
- reduced internal corrosion for long life and improved
cutting performance
- better balance improves surface finish and run-out accuracy
- improved flange contact results in less vibration and
therefore improved accuracy.
2. Slim Chucks have a more rigid structure and a high-gripping
torque than competitor products and are not subject to the
effects of unwanted taper pushing. A feature of Slim Chucks
is the 8 degree taper. The smaller the taper angle, the better
concentricity is obtained.
3. Slim Chucks provide customers with run-out accuracy within
3 microns (with P type collet).

Spindle speeders increase a machine tool’s speed enabling improved

Nikken spindle speeders can maintain high speeds up to 40,000rpm.
Nikken spindle speeders have a compact design and feature ground
gears that ensure smooth transmission of power. They also are
equipped with pre-loaded pretension bearing sets that increase

Angular head toolingNikken angular head tooling helps increase productivity.
Machining features on parts where there is limited or reduced access
or clearance can often lead to stop-start machining owing to multiple
job setups and clamping/re-clamping operations.
Nikken angular head tooling solutions reduce the time and resources
spent on fixturing and workholding by enabling more high-precision

Worm screwNikken rotary tables have an ion nitride worm gear. The worm screw is
manufactured from V grade carbide which is high anti-wearing and is
very tough. The worm screw guarantees high-precision and high
accuracy on a semi-permanent basis and reduces backlash.
Worm wheelThe material used for the worm wheel is a special Nikken order-made
steel which is hardened and ion-nitro treated, thus eliminating sliding
friction.
In comparison with other worm systems (phosphor bronze, aluminium
bronze worm wheel and steel worm screw) the Nikken worm system
