Alvin Minkoff was the salutatorian and E5dith Greenbaum the valedic- torian, As the graduating class entered they sang "Praise Ye the Father," th» pupils joining In the singing. Joan Callahan read from the Scrip- tures, and a chorus of graduates and pupils .sang "In a Monastery Garden," with Mildred Hogan at the piano, Alvin Minkoff then gave the salutatory, and an exhibition of graduation drosses followed. Mary O'Connor and Barbara Savides recited "I am an American," and a chorus of graduates and pupils sang "Italian Street Song" and "Who Is Sylvia?" A recitation, "Questions for Americans," by Joseph Wiese, was followed by the presentation of diplomas, Guard certificates and awards by Principal Hitter; the valedictory by Edith Greenbaum, a flag salute and the singing of "Star Spangled Banner" by the Color Guard and assembly, concluded the program as the graduates receded from the audi- torium. Twenty of the graduates have chosen to attend Far Rockaway High School, three will enter John Adams High School, five will go to the Woodrow Wilson Vocational High School, six to the Brooklyn High School for Specialty Trades, four will enter Chelsea Vocational High School, and one each to the Brooklyn High School of Women's Garment Trade-*, the Jamaica Vo- cational High School, the Brooklyn ligh School of Homemaking, to t. Augustine's Academy, Our Lady Vf Wisdom Academy and St. Jos- eph's Business School. Presentation of prizes were made to the following: Scholarship, medal donated by Dr. A. W. The large auditorium of Far Rockaway High School was filled to capacity last Friday evening with the parents, relatives and friends of the graduates on the occasion of the ninety-flrst com- mencement of the school. Two hun- dred and thirty graduates received their diplomas from Miss Monica D. Ryan, principal of the school, and a large number of these receiv- ed commencement honors and de- partmental awards from Arthur Franzen, administrative assistant. Of the 230 graduates, 155 com- pleted the academic course, 38 the general course and 37 the commer- cial course. Three Youths Die In Crashes (Continued from Page 1) received his gold wings and his commission in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve at Pensacola, Fla., on June 8, and on the following clay he was married at the base in Pensacola to Miss Elizabeth M. Gunn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Gunn of Richmond Hill. After receiving his commission as a lieutenant at the Pensaocla air base, Lieut. Doric was transferred to the Jacksonville base. Lieutenant, second grade, David William Gottlieb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gottlieb, of 1127 Harris street, Far Rockaway, lost his life last Thursday when a Navy plane in which he was on a routine flight from the Quonset Naval Air Sta- tion, Rhode Island, plunged into Long Island StSund off New Lon- don, Conn. Four others in the plane also lost their lives. Lieutenant Gottlieb, who was 23 years old, enlisted in the Naval Air the Daniel M. Graduat ion exercises af Public School No. 44, H a r r y Rlt ter , prin­c i p a l , were held in the school audi­tor ium last Fr iday afternoon, when a c k a s of G4 graduates received di­plomas and prizes were awarded. Alvin Minkoff was the salutator ian and E5dith Greenbaum the valedic­torian,

As the graduat ing class entered they sang "Praise Ye the Fa ther , " th» pupils joining In the singing. Joan Callahan read from the Scrip­tures, and a chorus of g radua tes and pupils .sang "In a Monastery Garden," with Mildred Hogan a t the piano, Alvin Minkoff then gave the salutatory, and an exhibition of graduat ion drosses followed.

Mary O'Connor and Barbara Savides recited "I am an American," and a chorus of graduates and pupils sang "Ital ian Street Song" and "Who Is Sylvia?" A recitation, "Questions for Americans," by Joseph Wiese, was followed by the presentat ion of diplomas, Guard certificates and awards by Principal Hi t te r ; the valedictory by Edith Greenbaum, a flag salute and the singing of "Star Spangled Banner" by the Color Guard and assembly, concluded the program as the graduates receded from the audi­torium.

Class of 230 Received Diplomas At 91st Commencement of Far Rockaway H. S.

The large auditorium of F a r Rockaway High School was filled to capacity last Fr iday evening with the parents, relatives and friends of the graduates on the occasion of the ninety-flrst com­mencement of the school. Two hun­dred and thir ty graduates received their diplomas from Miss Monica D. Ryan, principal of the school, and a large number of these receiv­ed commencement honors and de­partmental awards from Arthur Franzen, administrat ive assistant.

The presentation of diplomas and awarding of medals and premiums followed. The Rev. Fa ther Leonard then delivered the address to the graduates, who sang "The Bells of St. Mary," and then marched out of the auditorium as the program came to an end.

Three Youths Die In Crashes

Marine Corps Reserve at Pensacola, Fla., on June 8, and on the following clay he was married at the base in Pensacola to Miss Elizabeth M. Gunn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Gunn of Richmond Hill. After receiving his commission as a lieutenant at the Pensaocla air base, Lieut. Doric was transferred to the Jacksonville base.

Lieutenant, second grade, David William Gottlieb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gottlieb, of 1127 Harr is street, Fa r Rockaway, lost his life last Thursday when a Navy plane in which he was on a routine flight from the Quonset Naval Air Sta­tion, Rhode Island, plunged into Long Island StSund off New Lon­don, Conn. Four others in the plane also lost their lives.

by Howard Benson of 20-15 Corn-aga avenue, F a r Rockaway, that his son, Howard David Benson, was killed on June 24. No details of his death were given, but it is be­lieved that he might have lost his life while participating in one of the raids over Germany or France.
