How did you attract/address your audience?
Questionnaire's
• We made questionnaire’s and gave them out to people of different genders and ages. From this we found out what people want to see in a gangster film.
• Here is an example of one of the surveys we gave our:
Ideas
• We looked at gangster films that have been successful and took our ideas from them. For example our voice over came from The Departed.
Voiceover
• Our voiceover attracted the audience because it addresses them. We wanted it to sound personal so people can get into the story. Our plan with it was that it would the audience through the opening scene.
Mystery • In the opening scene we left a lot of it open for the audience to make their
own decision about. For example when our main character is doing the jobs you don’t actually see what he’s doing you just see him making money and that he has a gun. The same is with the end of the scene, it ends with the narrator saying “but then I realized the only way to get to the top is to take out the man above you”. This attracts the audience because it makes them want to find out what actually happens and whether he does in fact ‘take our the man above him’.
Familiarity
• We used places like London as it is an English film. This attracts the audience because it allows them to familiarise with the setting. Also the genre convention of a gangster doing mysterious jobs and the money and gun allows the audience to relate as they is very common.
Use of montage
• The use of montage attracts the audience because it allows them to get into the character more quickly because it condenses a certain amount of time.
