PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Education Week - Open Day Next week is Education Week and we will be holding our annual session for families on Wednesday, 7th August. At 9.15am parents and carers are welcome to come along to see a showcase of our talented dancers, singers and band at the COLA. Following this (at approximately 9.45am) there will be a chance to visit classrooms to participate in an activity. The morning will conclude at 10.30am. Arrival at School School times are 8.55am to 2.55pm. To reduce traffic congestion in the mornings the school provides supervision in the playground from 8.30am. Students should not arrive at school prior to 8.30am. Parents and carers should make other arrangements for their child if they need to be dropped off before this time. If students do happen to arrive prior to 8.30am they are to proceed to the blue seats outside the school office and sit and wait until the teacher is on duty at 8.30am. Terrigal School Care provides before and after school care. TFFF – How You Can Contribute

1. Volunteer your time on your child’s class stall – an hour would be great to spread the load across all families.

2. Donate items – now you’ve seen the stall list (below) what can you donate? Quality books/toys to be dropped off the week before the TFFF, a cake for the cake stall, prizes for the game stalls, plants for the plant stall.

Chess Success Congratulations to our chess team on coming 4th at the recent Central Coast competition. Thanks to Mrs Nugent for coaching the team. Tennis Success Congratulations to our tennis teams on their recent performance at the Todd Woodbridge Cup competition. In a rain interrupted day we were able to have two of our teams advance to the state finals of the Todd Woodbridge Cup. Thanks to Mrs Murphy for coaching the teams. Football (Soccer) Our boys’ football team played in the 5th round of the NSWPSSA Knockout on Tuesday against Woongarrah PS. Our team played well and won, 3-1. They then played Berkeley Vale in the 6th round. Unfortunately our team found the ‘woodwork’ more than the net and lost this game, 4-0. A great effort from the boys to reach round 6 of the State Knockout! Thanks to Miss Cooper for coaching the team and parents for your support. State Cross Country Championships Congratulations to our four cross country runners on their performance at the State PSSA Cross Country Championship last week. Our students were great representatives for Sydney North Zone and our school. They competed against the best cross country runners from across NSW. Layla came 19th in state in the 10yr girls’ race. Sienna came 20th in the state for the 12/13 girls’ race. Harry was 26th in the state for the 11yr boys race and Layla was 78th in the 10yrs girls’ race. Terrigal Family Fun Fair – Saturday 14th September

Not long now till the Terrigal Family Fun Fair. Pre-purchased ride tickets will be available in the next week or two. This is the best value option for families. So look out for the notice about purchasing a pre-paid wristband.

2019 NSW Snow Sports

This year, Terrigal PS entered a school team in the Northern section of the NSW Snow Sports TPS students and their events: Brianca Peterson - Skier Cross & Alpine Ally Cremer - Skier Cross & Alpine Kobe Cremer - Snowboard Cross & Snowboard GS Charlie Edge - Skier Cross & Alpine Jet Avis - Skier Cross, Alpine & Moguls Remy Avis - Skier Cross, Alpine, Moguls, Snowboard Cross & Snowboard GS TPS students and their events:

TPS had great results overall! 3 students qualified to progress through to State. Remy is through to State for Snowboard Cross (5th), Snowboard Giant Slalom (7th) and Moguls (6th), Jet got through for Moguls (7th) & Kobe for Snowboard GS (7th). Everyone did really well and had a lot of fun in some testing conditions. Some of the events were held in very testing conditions with rain, snow and very strong winds. Also, our region (Northern NSW & QLD) has the largest number of participants with over 3200 entries All of the TPS students skied &/or boarded really well and represented TPS proudly and displayed excellent sportsmanship. ICAS 2019 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) will be conducted online this year (with the exception of writing for Years 3 and 4). All tests will be conducted in September, in the library computer room before school – with a starting time of 8am. Notes outlining costs and further details will be sent home to Year 2-6 students. Kindergarten 2020 Enrolments are now being taken for students starting Kindergarten in 2020. Enrolment forms can be collected from our school front office. To ensure that all relevant information can be sent to enrolling families, we are hoping that all enrolment forms can be returned to the office by the end of August.

The dates for our ‘Terrigal Treasures’ orientation program are in Term 4. The sessions run for 4 consecutive Wednesday mornings, 9:15am – 10:45am, from Wednesday 23rd October until Wednesday 13th November 2019.
