Student Parliament Report Welcome to the first parliament paragraph for Semester Two 2019. It’s the first week back from our school-free holiday which spanned for 2 full weeks, we’re all used to the holiday flow, but everyone has started to settle in very well considering that big events that are coming up. For example, Terrigal’s Got Talent auditions, ICAS assessments and the Family Fun Fair, as well as preparing for our Stage 3 camps which are: the Great Aussie Bush Camp for the Year Fives and Canberra for all the Year Sixes. On Wednesday, our AFL boys competed in the Tony Lockett gala day. The boys played extremely well but unfortunately lost their very last game to Copacabana Primary but won every single game other than that. Stage 3 Dodgeball Club is starting up again in Week Two, it’ll be held on Tuesdays rather that Mondays due to a clash with Stage 1 Fitness Club. Make sure you’re ready for all of these exhilarating events. By Keelan, James and Harkaran

ADMINISTRATION

Administering of Prescribed Medication The school prefers not to administer prescribed medication to students, as medical staff are not employed at the school. Where administration of prescribed medication in school hours is essential to the student’s health and educational welfare, the procedures set out by the Department of Education will be strictly enforced. If your child needs to take antibiotics 3 times a day, there is no need to send the medication to school. Medication can be taken before school, after school and before bedtime. Should your child need any kind of medication throughout the day, please remember the following regulations:

• Parents need to come to school and fill in an individual health care plan. A letter from the doctor detailing dosage and time of day medication needs to be taken must accompany the health care plan.

• The parent needs to provide written instructions about any special requirements for storage indicated by their medical practitioner or pharmacist.

• Students must not carry medications unless there is a written agreement between the school and the student’s parents.

• For some conditions, prescribed medication and equipment must be immediately accessible, e.g. asthma and anaphylaxis medications such as Ventolin asthma relievers and epipen adrenaline auto injectors. In such cases, arrangements for the carrying of medication and equipment will be devised and documented by the school.

New School Banking rewards now available!

Exciting new Term 3 Polar Savers rewards are now available, while stocks last!

Arctic Owl Fluffy Keyring Scratch Art Cards

For every deposit made at school students will receive a silver Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for exclusive School Banking reward items in recognition of their regular savings habits. There are two new items released each term so be sure to keep an eye out for them!

School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.

Thank you for supporting the School Banking program and remember, School Banking day is every Tuesday.
