PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Mini Fair Last Friday 22nd November we had our school Mini Fair. The day was extremely successful and many smiling faces were seen around the school grounds. Thank you to Stage 3 for all of their hard work in organising this wonderful event. Gold Coins for the Koalas Yesterday we collected gold coin donations to assist koalas who were injured or have been left without a home in the recent bushfires. Thank you to all families who donated and our students who came up with this supportive idea. Sports Captain Speeches Today we had the nominees for Sports Captains 2020 give their speeches to be considered to lead next year. Congratulations to all nominees for their efforts today and good luck! Book Fair This week we have had the book fair in our school library. We have had a lot of excited students purchase from the wonderful range of materials provided. Many thanks to Ms Ryan and Mrs Byrne for organising and overseeing this opportunity for our students. Keeping your child safe when travelling to and from school Please review road safety with your children to ensure safe travel to and from school. Remind them about the importance of crossing the road safely and using pedestrian crossings. I have inserted some specific information below, further details and resources can be found by clicking the following link: https://www.safetytown.com.au/ Your primary aged child is still developing an understanding of danger and safety. While they are often keen to do things for themselves, an adult must always be responsible for your child in the traffic environment. Your child is a vulnerable road user. They are still developing the skills that help them to judge the direction of sound and the speed and distance of vehicles. Your child is physically small, making it harder for drivers to see them. They may be easily distracted and tend to only be able to focus on one thing at a time. This means that they find it difficult to deal with sudden changes in the traffic environment. Students in Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 : Hold a grown-up's hand when they cross the road, are on the footpath, or in a car park Students in Stage 2: Hold an adult's hand when they cross the road. Use a safe place to cross the road. Students in Stage 3: Stop! Look! Listen! Think! Every time you cross the road. Use a safe place to cross the road Melissa McKay Deputy Principal

ADMINISTRATION

Money Due - Parent Online Payment (POP) is the school’s preferred payment option Online Payments is the school’s preferred payment option. To access please go onto the school’s website and follow the ‘Make a Payment’ link. This link will direct you to the Westpac Banking site, where you can make payments directly to the school. Please feel free to contact the office, if you need some help or if you want some more information. Currently we are still taking payments for our voluntary school contributions. Please feel free to contact us if you are not sure if you have made a contribution yet. Schools are funded by the State and Federal Government to provide basic education to students. As a school community we strive to provide additional learning opportunities to students. To assist with the purchase of additional resources, which enhance learning programs, each family is asked to pay a Voluntary School Contribution. We still have a few families who haven’t paid for their children’s book packs. Book packs are handed out at the beginning of the year to all students. Each book pack contains items required for each particular grade including the school diary. Book packs are sold at a reduced price which, because of our bulk buying power (and because we don’t pay the GST), is approximately half the retail price. Another reminder invoice was sent home last week.
