    Now

Is the TimeIT IS TIME FOR ALL OF US- Citizens and Residents-- of Greensboroto really clean up our police department. Despite three different mayors, three different city managers and three different police chiefs since 2006, therecontinues to be a police culture in Greensboro that operates without transparency,

uses double standards, promotes inequality before the law based on race or

ethnicity, abuses investigatory power and covers up police misconduct.

AS A RESULT OF THIS CULTURE, there are now over 45 civil andcriminal lawsuits brought against the GPD by current and former police

officers as well as many uninvestigated or inadequately investigated civilian

complaints/cases. This must stop! Now is the time to act!

    Lamont Armstrong, released in

June of 2012, spent 17 year in

prison based on a flawed GPD

investigation. Yet, incredibly,Chief Miller refused to

    investigate the discredited and

    flawed investigation.

Should I convict myself or acqmyself? Sergeant Daren Davissaid he was authorized by theformer city manager to investig

himself. This sets up the ultimaconflict of interest.

A white officer, yet to be identified, said hehandcuffed and assisted then 85 year old EvaFoster to the floor. Her wrist was cracked; theCity has entered into a $15,000 settlement buthas not investigated the incident and claimsnothing improper was done.

The three cases above and eleven others are drawn out in detail in a newly developed and well

researched booklet produced by the Beloved Community Center. You can access this entire

booklet at www.belovedcommunitycenter.org. On page 39 of the booklet, you will find al

the ways you can help change the GPD and help make our city great. Also, the Beloved

Community Center has an open table every Wednesday from 1-3 PM at 417 Arlington Street.

Everyone is invited and welcome to attend. Feel free to call us a 336-230-0001
