Reject corporate donations (monetary orin-kind)  from real estate firms, developers,big landlords, construction companies, andany other affiliated entities.

Reject corporate donations (monetary orin-kind) from LLCs associated withlandlords and/or properties.

Reject donations from law firms that deal inreal estate law and/or represent landlordsor real estate developers. For donationsreceived from individual lawyers, we askyou to review and return these donationsat your discretion. If this individual isdirectly involved in representing realestate interests, we recommend that youreject or return the money.

Reject individual donations from real estatedevelopers, executives, and big landlords.

Reject donations from PACs and otherpolitical committees funded by the realestate industry to promote their interests.

In this context, we define landlordcontributions to come from individuals whoown multiple units and/or properties andhave taken steps to formally incorporatetheir business. For individuals renting outrooms or houses, we ask you to reviewand reject or return at your discretion.

The Homes Guarantee is a policy platform developed bygrassroots leaders and organizers from across the country whohave been directly impacted by the housing crisis. It putsforward a bold vision to push for structural change and shiftpower from landlords and real estate -- to tenants.

The Homes Guarantee calls for 12 million social housing units,massive reinvestment in public housing, a tenant bill of rights,and reparations for centuries of racist housing policy. It's is aclimate and racial justice intervention. It’s what we need to meetthe scale, breadth, depth of the housing crisis.

The private housing market is failing. It’s designed to make therich, richer, and more and more of us can't afford rent. Whensystems are designed to boost private profits, they always failto meet the needs of the people. That’s why we need a HomesGuarantee.

The private market has failed to meet theneeds of the people. We call forlegislation to build 12 million new units ofsocial housing to provide for 12 millionrenter households that are costburdened and for the millions who areexperiencing homelessness.

Public housing in the U.S. serves over 2million people and existing units requireat least $70 billion in repairs. Thegovernment must reinvest in publichousing, committing at least $30 billionannually for five years, totaling $150billion.

REINVEST IN EXISTINGPUBLIC HOUSING

Renters and bank tenants – another termfor homeowners – are subject tounpredictability of unregulated andpredatory industries that cause evictions,displacement, and foreclosure. We needa National Tenant Bill of Rights thatincludes Universal Rent Control, goodcause eviction, right to counsel, andmore to build the power of tenants.

PROTECT RENTERS +BANK TENANTS

The United States has never addressedthe brutality of indigenous genocide andslavery, as well as other racist housingpolicies like redlining. The HomesGuarantee embraces a reparativeframework that would compensatecommunities directly impacted byhousing discrimination, and push forracial impact analyses of housing policy.

PAY REPARATIONS FORRACIST HOUSING POLICIES

Speculation is the process of buyingproperty as a wealth building tool. Formany, housing is a necessity and notabout wealth.  We must end land andreal estate speculation and call for taxmeasures and legislation that willdecommodify housing and create asystem that is focused on meetingneeds, not profit.

END REAL ESTATE SPECULATIONAND DE-COMMODIFY HOUSING

The housing and climate change crisesconverge in the American household.We must upgrade existing housing stockand make it carbon neutral by fullyelectrifying buildings and retrofitting toreduce energy use. This will reducelong-term operating costs and energyconsumption, and create millions of jobsacross the country.
