When was the last
time you stopped
to appreciate
yourself? Are you
willing to let
yourself know that
you appreciate
yourself today?
Self appreciation
is like a balm of
healing for the
heart– no matter
what ails you!”

Mental Health Week May 1-12th, 2013 Being aware of your Mental Health is important because it affects every single aspect of your daily life and ability to function. Without awareness, it’s difficult to pinpoint why you are so stressed or having problems coping.
Maintaining your mental health is a lot like staying physically fit; it re-quires a little effort every day but the rewards are great! Mostly it’s about finding balance in you life. Everyone has to face stress and demands, but we all need and de-serve a break sometime.
MENTAL HEALTH TIPS What you can do for your mental health: Practice positive “SELF TALK” Look for the positive, learn to
cope with negative thoughts before they take over your mind
Confront your fears Be in the present Collect positive emotional mo-
ments Get a good nights rest Ask for help when you need it Build your support system for
positive mental health Build good relationship at work Build good neighborly relations Join community events
Having positive mental health means you are able to: Enjoy life. You live in the mo-
ment, learn from the past and plan for the future.
Be resilient. You are optimis-
tic and bounce back from chal-lenges. You keep your per-spective when dealing with se-rious events in your life.
Strive for balance in your
life. You know when your bal-ance is off and make changes to restore it.
Work to achieve your poten-
tial. You recognize and de-velop your strengths and inter-ests.
Be flexible. You’re able to feel
and express a range of emo-tions, and to change your ex-pectations and approaches to solve problems.
Feel free to contact your Health and Social Services department for continued support.
