Itisonly inwritingthissectionoftheNewsletter
that Iamabletoperceiveexactly howmuchtheteam
achievesevery month. Althoughalltheteammembers
communicatetheiractionsandIaminvolvedinmany
ofthe decisions thatare madeitis always very satisfying toseethatallthehardworkdoespayoff.Naturallythesupportwegetfromour
sponsors, members of the Engineering department and other
interestedpartiesallgoa longway tohelpingtheteammove forward
inourendeavours.
Thebignewsthismonthis thatseveralofthemaincomponents
ofthecar havearrivedwiththeEngine beingdeliveredinthesecond
weekofFebruary givingthe teama very good idea ofthe exactsizeof
the engine andtheworkthatremainedtobe done.Oureventonthe
8th of February gavethe team theopportunity to unveil thechassis
that wouldbeusedas thefoundations ofthecar, thisis downtoone
of our Silver Sponsors: Edwin-Snowdens & Co. With many more
componentsonorderandarrivingona regularbasisall thatremainsis
taking these ingredients and ensuringthat they all work together to
givetheteamacartoraceinJuly.
Togiveallthathavebeeninvolvedachancetoseethecarfirst
handthe teamplantounveil thecaron the 22ndofMarchatanevent
held at theUniversity. Details are to follow in thenext few days so
pleasecontacttheteamifyouwouldbeinterestedinattending.
Finally the team have secured the support of two more

supportis muchappreciatedandgoes toshowthe valueofthe teams
activitiesasperceivedfromoutsidetheUniversity.

The Development of the HU-ChallengerOver thelastmonthwe havemadea bigpushtobuyalltheremainingcomponents weneededfor
thecar.Hereisabreakdownofsomeofthenewcomponentsthathavearrived.
A big stepping stone has been

fully welded chassis. We can
now begin aaching
components as ournext goal is
to have a rolling chassis
completeby theendof March.

In addi]on to thenew parts that arearriving
for the car we are also constantly striving to
update and improve the designs for the
components we are manufacturing in house.
Usingthewheelit hasbeenpossible tomodeltheexact spaceavailablefor thebrakes, hubs
and uprights allowing for the suspension
geometries to be worked on. This has also
allowed for the exact placement of the
differen]al and finalisa]on of our backplate
designsothat it canbe manufacturedonthe
University’sCNCmachine.

As a team we are also growing more and
more confident with the addi]on of more
definedroles,meaningweknowwhoisdoing
what andwhen.This is allowingus to cover
morethings indepthandexploreallparts of
the car at every mee]ng. The weekly
mee]ngs (shown) allow the team members
tobringalltheirideasandinforma]ontothe
table.
Events…TheTeamhas beenbusyonce againinterms ofEvents.Onthe8thFebruarywe unveiledthe
chassisandour engineduringa presenta]onbythe TeamPrincipal as wellas a guestspeaker,John
Adams,whosharedhis experiencesfromwhenhetookpartinthecompe]]ona coupleofyearsago
andhowthishelpedhiminhisprofessionallifeaerUniversity.
It’snotall workandnoplaythismonthastheteamwentGo-Kar]ngonthe29thofFebruary.
Itwas chancefor theteam tobondas well aspickout any hiddentalent anyonehas behindthe
wheel.
Thenexteventthatthe teamwill beholdingwill beonthe 22ndofMarchwheretherolling
chassiswill beunveiled.This will beanideal opportunitytoseetheshapeofthecarandwhatitwill
looklike atthe compe]]on.This willalsobe anopportunitytomeettheteammembers andgainan
understandingofthedifferenttasksthathavebeenundertakenbytheindividualsthatmakeupthe
