On 13th July, 2017 GVK Power and Infrastructure Ltd announced the successful completion of the sale of its residual stake of 10 per cent in Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), held through its subsidiary, Bangalore Airport Infrastructure Developers Private Limited, (BAIDPL) to Fairfax India Holdings Corporation (Fairfax India) for a consideration of Rs 1,290 Crore (approximately $200 million). In March 2017, GVK had closed an agreement which was signed during March 2016 with Fairfax India to sell a 33% stake in BIAL. It had retained a 10% stake and the management of BIAL. Subsequently, in June 2017, GVK announced its decision to conclude the sale of this 10 per cent residual stake to Fairfax India, subject to necessary consents and approvals. Dr GVK Reddy, Founder Chairman & Managing Director of GVK while speaking on the development said, “Since deleveraging is currently our top priority, we decided to part ways with BIAL. However, we would like to reiterate that the Airports sector will continue to be a core focus area for GVK.”“We will now focus on Mumbai as well as the Navi Mumbai airport for which we have won the bid and also on selectively evaluating privatization opportunities. Capacity optimization and real estate development will now be the priority areas for the existing Mumbai airport,” added Dr Reddy.

Air Canada launches direct flights from GVK CSIAAir Canada launched its maiden nonstop operations between Mumbai and Toronto on 2nd July, 2017. The service will operate 4 times weekly, with a B787-900 aircraft. This is CSIA’s 3rd nonstop flight connection to North America and the maiden one to Canada, with a flying time of approximately 15 hours one way.A welcome ceremony was arranged at arrivals and departures by MIAL to welcome the airline and the passengers. It was attended by senior officials of Air Canada and the Consulate of Canada. The officials included Mr Nadir Patel (High Commissioner for Canada to India), Mr Jordan Reeves (Consul General of Canada), Mr Louis Lacasse (Vice Consul, Canada), Mr Duncan Bureau (VP-Global Sales, Air Canada), Ms Margaret Skinner (Director Sales-EMEAI, Air Canada), Mr Arun Pandeya (Country & GM-Indian Sub-continent, Air Canada) and Mr Raveen Pinto, VP-Aero Marketing, MIAL.

GVK MIAL launches Josh Committee

We all know that a healthy workforce helps improve both individual and organizational performance, and enhance overall physical and mental wellbeing of the employees. In line with this, GVK MIAL launched a Josh Committee that would be responsible for organizing and managing sports related engagement events and activities. The initiative received an overwhelming response and members from various departments came forward to be a part of it.

Training at Deoli-Kota Expressway Project

A Health Talk on ‘Heart Disease Prevention and its Importance’ was organized for all the employees at Jegurupadu CCPP. The session was presided over by Dr Meeraji Rao, an eminent cardiologist from Continental Hospitals, Hyderabad and was quite informative and interactive.

A Behaviour Training program was conducted for all toll collectors at GVK Deoli-Kota Project, Kishorepura toll plaza. The training covered various aspects like personality development, communication, stress management and motivation, communication and time management.

The GVK Alaknanda Hydro Power Company Ltd has generated and transmitted over 3078 million units of electricity since it commenced operations in April 2015. This is a 330 MW hydro electric power project that is located on the river Alaknanda in Tehri/Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand.

GVK BIO at BIO International Convention

GVK BIO and its subsidiary Aragen Biosciences participated in the BIO International Convention at San Diego from June19-June 21, 2017. This is the annual event hosted by Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) representing over 1100 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, state biotechnology centres and related organizations across the US and thirty other nations. GVK BIO was among the few companies that made use of Virtual Reality (VR) to showcase its infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities. This helped the prospective customers to have a better understanding of the company’s abilities in the areas of discovery and analytical solutions. Key speakers at the event included David Cameron, the Ex-Prime Minister of Great Britain and Ann Romney, the former First Lady of Massachusetts. With over 16,000 participants from 74 countries, BIO Contention is the biggest biotechnology-related event in North America.

Health Camp at Taj KrishnaTeam Taj Krishna conducted a Health Camp for all the associates in association with Apollo Hospitals. A team around seven specialists conducted Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar ECG tests and provided free consultation to around 160 associates. Team Taj firmly believes in improving the quality of life of its associates, and therefore, regularly organizes such health camps with the objective to provide good health care facilities and sound medical advice to the associates.

Movie screening at Taj BanjaraAs part of its regular recreational activities, team Taj Banjara organized the screening of the Bollywood movie - Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. All the associates enjoyed the movie in a theatre-like ambience that was created in one of the banquets along with tea and some snacks.

Fire training sessionTo enhance preparedness of the staff in case of any mishap, a session on fire-fighting was conducted at GVK ONE mall. It was an informative session and the skills imparted would come handy in case of a fire incident at the mall.

GVK EMRI - Coimbatore crew trained to handle medical evacuation in aviation casualties

Around 20 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and three Pilots from GVK EMRI service in Coimbatore underwent a special training in the first-aid management of aviation casualties at the Air Force Station, Sulur. The training equipped

the crew to be the first respondent to attend medical evacuation in case of mid-air mishaps. They were taught about the dynamics of injuries in an aircraft crash, types of possible injuries and safe evacuation of the victims from the aircraft.

Dhanvantari Arogya Rath ambulances launched in Gujarat Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Dilipkumar Tkakore, Labour and Employment, Disaster Management, Government of Gujarat launched 7 Dhanvantari Arogya Rath ambulances in Surendranagar in the presence of other dignitaries. These ambulances would provide services across 15 districts and work towards the upliftment of the construction labour workers.

Van Mahotsav celebrations

Planting trees and conserving the environment is the first step towards addressing the issue of climate change, preserving nature and maintaining an ecological balance. GVK celebrated Van Mahotsav, a

week-long annual tree plantation initiative by conducting a tree plantation drive across locations.

GVK MIAL partnered with a local NGO to convert barren forest land into green cover at Rabale in Navi Mumbai. Team MIAL sowed a wide variety of native species of plants across an area of one acre beyond the airport premises. These plants will be maintained by the company for the next seven years in collaboration with the NGO ‘HARIYALI’.

All the employees at Gautami CCPP came together and planted a variety of trees on the occasion of Karthika Vana Mahotsavam. As per Hinduism, plants are considered divine and are worshipped as Gods. Tulsi, Amla and Durva are among those plants that are widely used in traditional pujas. During this time, people also

indulge in some singing and dancing and chant mantras for spiritual consciousness.

All the employees, their family members and the contract workers enthusiastically participated in a tree plantation drive that was conducted as part of the Environment Awareness Campaign. There were a total of 157 participants and

over 3000 trees of different varieties were planted at the project site.

considered as the greatest field hockey player of all times. He had started playing hockey after joining the Army at the age of 16. He was famously

known as ‘The Wizard’ for his superb ball control and had scored more than 1000 goals during his international career.
