Harold Lloyd

“The Employee’s First 30 Days”Wed., October 3, 10:00 a.m.Ever wonder how your newest associates are really treated during their first 30 days on the job? Sure, you have an idea. But would you believe that somewhere in your company a brand new associate was just:l Scheduled to start on a Saturday with only four

hours of training or…l Issued a used and unwashed smock previously

worn by a chronic smoker or…l Scheduled to work three straight evenings with-

out a trained supervisor or…l Told to mop the restrooms without any training

on her first night or…l Told to wear a name badge with someone else’s

name because the P-Touch machine was broken or…

l Introduced to the store manager…three weeks after being hired

The results of the first ever, new employee attitude survey will showcase the good, the bad, and the very ugly ways we introduce new associates to our world. You’ll see that we are more the culprit than the victim when it comes to new associate turnover.

This session will show you the importance of evaluating your new associate orientation program and how to make the early phase of their relationship with your company infinitely more positive. It is ideal for senior managers as well as middle managers responsible for recruiting and developing new associates.

“How Strong is Your “Magnetic Field?”

Wed., October 3, 1:00 p.m.You have heard people say, “I just love going to Trader Joe’s.” Or, “I have to have my Costco fix at least once a month.” Or, “I just can’t resist a walk through Whole Foods.” You have to ask yourself, are my customers as passionate about my store?

The restaurant industry calls this magnetism “craveability.” Do your customers crave any part of your operations and/or your products? This session will showcase examples of “craveable” and offer effective and affordable ways you can develop such “customer magnetism” and grow your business in a more meaningful way.

”What To Do To Improve Follow-Through”

Wed., October 3, 3:30 p.m.Are you frequently frustrated by great plans that never seem to materialize, or a pet project that “died on the vine?” Ever wonder why some people continue to the conclusion, while others seem to ‘sink’ in midstream. Then this session is the one you’ve been waiting for. This session is about making things happen.

“What to Do When They Don’t Follow Through,” offers management techniques designed to ensure follow through. These best practices are proven. They are effective. And best of all, they can be adapted to suit your personality and organization’s culture.

By attending this session and embracing at least seven of the 10 techniques, mid-managers, supervisors, and owners will begin to see enthusiastic starts to their projects and programs that lead to fulfilling finishes with rewarding results.

It’s About Time:A time management tool chest for retailers

Thurs., October 4, 10:30 a.m.This session is about TIME. How it’s wasted. And how it can be used more effectively in a retail environment.

Retailing is a notoriously time-intensive occupation. The incredible number of hours of operation probably contributes to this condition. The age-old mindset that the more hours a manager works, the more dedicated he/she must be certainly doesn’t help.

This session will analyze some of our bad habits that waste time. It will also showcase over 20 practical, effective and time-tested time management techniques all embraceable with a modicum of effort.

So, if you frequently find yourself wishing a day was 26 hours long, or that there were eight days a week, this session may be time well spent.

“The 25 Best in 25 Years!”

Thurs., October 4, 9:00 a.m.In the music recording industry, a common practice to boost sales is to create a “Best of…” album in which all of the top hits of an artist’s lifetime are put on one recording.

This seminar has a similar goal…to boost your sales — and help you improve your employee morale, while reducing costs.

WOW! All that in 60+ minutes? Yes! With Harold Lloyd’s 25 best ideas in his 25-year career as an idea hunter, it is possible. Time-tested. Reality checked. These ideas are all keepers. See for yourself.

Quotes from some of last year’s attendees:

“Harold Lloyd is an engaging, entertaining, inspirational speaker with an abundance of ideas. After attending his seminar at the IFRA convention we went on to participate in his share groups and full seminars. We have taken many of the great ideas and are using them in our stores today. I highly recommend that IFRA members take advantage of this excellent program for their store managers.”—Luke Kotara, Berkot’s Super Foods

** *

“Harold Lloyd’s program is very motivational and inspirational. His ideas are simple enough to utilize every day, but large enough to make a huge impact.”—Tessa Wiegman, Schuette Stores

** *

“No one understands the retail food business like Harold Lloyd; there were so many great ideas to take back for our store. Some of his concepts are a real wake-up call.”—Rob Prisco, Prisco's Fine Foods
