English Partnership along with private com-paniesjoinedtogetherfinanciallytomakethisproject into a reality. The goal of all millenium communities is to “set standards for energy ef-ficiency,waterconsumption,builidngdefects,recyclying and health and safety on site.”(UDC)

All communities are also located on challenging sitesthatneedattentionpriortobreakingintothe ground. Greenwich was of course no excep-tiontothatruleandwasformerlyagasworkssite.

SiteLocatedonaGasWorksSitethathadbeeninoperation for about 100 years. Due to the nature ofthesite,cleanupwasneededinordertotakecare of the industrial waste from the century before.

Sustainability Goals: 80% reduction in primary energy consumption 65% as of March 2007 30% reduction in water use 25% as of March 2007 50% reduction in construction waste This goal was reached 25% reduction in car usage with 10 years of implementation 30% reduction in construction cost 20% as of March 2007

How: Primary energy consumption lowered through a combination of local electricity generation, improved insulation,andenergyefficient devices Constuction waste was decreased and also saved 150,000 pounds
