This weekend the Church in Northern New York is blessed with another priest. Fr. Todd Thibault, ordained by Bishop LaValley at the Ogdensburg Cathedral on Saturday morning, served at St. Mary’s & St. Joseph’s in Massena during the

summer of 2015, before his final year at the seminary. I hope to soon have him back to Massena to offer Mass for us one fine Sunday morning. In the meantime, may God bless him with enthusiasm and zeal for serving Christ and those to whom he is sent in the years to come!

Columbus Day Weekend is a natural choice of date for our local Knights of Columbus (Council #1141) to honor their “Knight of the Year,” as well as “Auxiliary of the Year.” It begins with a Memorial Mass for their de-ceased council members on Saturday evening. I am very grateful for the long and loyal support that our Knights have given to the parishes and local community. May they continue to uphold and exemplify the Columbian principles of: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism in Massena and throughout the North Country.

“Blue Mass,” for law enforcement of the North Country

A Mass honoring the law enforcement personnel of the North Country will be celebrated on October 30, 2016 at 2:30 pm in St. Joseph’s Church, 306 West Main Street, Malone. Com-monly referred to as the “Blue Mass,” it was thought important that such an event be held in northern New York to offer thanks to God for the dedication and sacrifice made by the women and men in law enforcement and to pray for their safety, as well as, for their families and communities. On this occasion, we hope to draw representation from various local agencies of law enforce-ment and the Department of Corrections to join in this special moment of prayer. Bishop LaValley would like to invite parish-ioners from throughout the Diocese of Ogdensburg to join him for this inaugural event. For more information contact:

33 DAYS TO MERCIFUL LOVE SMALL-GROUP RETREAT

We would like to invite you to join us for a six-week Divine Mercy retreat. The retreat is based on the book 33 Days to Merciful Love, by Fr. Michael Gaitley from the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception.

The format of the retreat is simple: The participants will read from their book 33 Days to Merciful Love and answer several questions in their workbooks daily, on their own. Then we’ll all come together weekly to watch Fr. Michael on DVD, and break into small groups for discus-sion. The retreat will begin on Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 am in the Jessie Carrie Room at the Sacred Heart Convent.

At the conclusion of the six week retreat, we’ll make our consecration to Divine Mercy on November 20th, the Feast of Christ the King and the last day of the extraordi-nary Jubilee Year of Mercy. So if you haven’t yet done something for the Year of Mercy or want to delve deeper into Divine Mercy, please consider joining us. All are wel-come! For more information please call Kathy at 764-0865 or Sylvie at 250-0312. (A books need to be ordered.)

The Annual Public Square Rosary Rally will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 12 noon in the park at the corner of Route 11 and Maple St. (across from Kinney Drugs) in Potsdam. Please join us and more than 15,000 other groups all across the country in response to Our Lady of Fatima’s urgent request for prayers and penance, to obtain pardon and peace for our coun-try and the world.
